Dancing With Fireflies

GIVEAWAY

HUNTER, DENISE
DANCING WITH FIREFLIES

Jade returns home to Chapel Springs after years of protecting her fragile heart. Then along comes Daniel, making her long to dance again.

Growing up in the midwestern river town of Chapel Springs, Indiana, Jade McKinley felt like a weed in a rose garden. When she left, she thought she’d never look back. Now, pregnant, alone, and broke, she has no other choice but to return.

The mayor of Chapel Springs, Daniel Dawson, has been an honorary member of the McKinley family for years. While his own home life was almost nonexistent, Daniel fit right in with the boisterous McKinley family. He’s loved Jade for years, but she always thought of him as a big brother. Now that she’s back, his feelings are stronger than ever.

As Jade attempts to settle in, nothing feels right. God seems far away, she’s hiding secrets from her family, and she’s strangely attracted to the man who’s always called her “squirt.” Returning home may prove more difficult—and more wonderful—than she ever imagined.

My Review:

Oh mercy, my heart has been pulverized. Seriously, I can still feel the deep ache on my left side every time I breathe :-) I lived every second with Jade and felt every single emotion. Talk about riveting, captivating and compulsive!

Hunter knows how to weave an angsty romance in a divine way. It hurt to watch Daniel so smitten while Jade is oblivious.  But then Jade can be forgiven because she has a lot on her plate and things get worse before they get better. I was in a love/hate relationship with her spunky stubbornness. Gotta admire a woman with grit...until you know she could really use some TLC from a besotted hero only she fights that kind of coddling tooth and nail. Then I just wanted to shake some sense into her. The author really put me through some serious emotional trauma and I wouldn't have it any other way!

  2. Sometimes it is very hard for a woman who has had to take care of herself for a long time to accept the kind of love and caring a man wants to give! I look forward to Jade and Daniel's story.

    1. You know, rubynreba, a trick of the author trade is to do the worst to your hero or heroine and then see how they get themselves out of the situation. Denise Hunter packs a triple whammy on poor Jade. I just couldn't catch my breath sometimes. Good luck!
