Shattered Haven

GIVEAWAY
POST, CAROL J.
SHATTERED HAVEN

No Safe Harbor

Allison Winchester's old Victorian house contains a valuable secret code, one that someone is dead set on uncovering. After her house is ransacked and her life is threatened, she has no choice but to accept the protection of injured ex-cop Blake Townsend. Allison never thought she'd trust a man with secrets again—and Blake is as much a mystery as the man who is stalking her. The lawman vows to shield her from the dangerous criminal. But can Blake and Allison decipher the mysterious code before their island safe haven becomes their ultimate resting place?

My Review:

A riveting suspense chalk full of intrigue and romance. This is the kind of armchair sleuth read I love. And trying to crack the secret code brought me back to my Trixie Belden days (Trixie Belden and the Mysterious Code). LOL. In fact I was feeling oh so smugly superior because I thought I'd cracked the code way before Allison and Blake. Uh...wrong!!!!! Left with egg on my face when Allison finally figures it out. Heart-stopping danger raised the gooseflesh on my arms more than a time or two as the villain grows more desperate...and reckless. Phew! Another Love Inspired Suspense novel you'll want to read in one sitting.

  1. I won't be entering the giveaway, I don't do well with suspense and mystery. But I just wanted to say that seeing your review of this book, seeing how much you liked it, makes me want to read it, even though it is a genre I don't usually read :D
    Glad you liked it! :)

    2. Lol, that made me laugh :D
It's not really dark, I guess, but I get creeped out very easily, so for me it's best to stay away from anything that might scare me! :D

    3. I'm the same way to some extent. I can't do psychological thrillers at all. I stick to Christian suspense writers -- but even some of them were too edgy so I've stopped reading those authors.

    1. LOL -- I'm still not over my Trixie Belden phase. So, what do you think? Did Trixie marry Jim and have a happily ever after? LOL Did she become a private investigator or a detective? I think Jim becomes a social worker -- maybe opens a center for under privileged kids....Sigh...Yes, I need to get a life. LOL. Ahem, good luck on the book draw.

  5. One of the best parts of a good suspense filled mystery is getting to play Miss Marple and try to solve it first!

  6. How about a Nancy Drew ... I think I read every single one of her books. Lobed every minute that's why I love these books today. LOL. Did read a few Trixie Belden books but our school library didn't carry hers like they did Nancy's. Not sure why.

    1. I read Nancy Drew as well. My favourite -- The Ghost of Blackwood Hall. Loved the vintage cover -- Nancy with long, flowing hair and the white skirt. Sigh. Such happy reading memories. Oh -- and good luck, Becky!

  7. Happy memories is right. I loved that one too ... once I had Nancy Drew on the go, I had to add a few Hardy Boys to my reading collection. Always wished the authors would add the 2 together and create a new set of books. Awwww those were the days. Lol
