Detecting Danger

GIVEAWAY

HANSEN, VALERIE
DETECTING DANGER

When a bomb explodes at the Washington Monument, the Capitol K-9 Unit goes on high alert. Though injured in the blast, K-9 cop Isaac Black is determined to get to the bottom of the situation. He'll follow every lead, including investigating his ER nurse's suspicious behavior. He soon learns Daniella Dunne has long been in a witness protection program. And it's apparent that her identity has been compromised. The killer she once sent to prison—her own father—has been released and vows revenge. As Isaac and his stalwart beagle safeguard Daniella at his family's farm, a murderer with a personal score to settle lurks in the shadows…

My Review:

The second last Capitol K-9 Unit book and things are really heating up. This has been a fascinating continuity series and I'm really looking forward to seeing how it all plays out. That being said, Detecting Danger reads perfectly fine as a standalone. No need to have read the previous four (though you should because they are great suspense reads). There is one over-arcing suspense thread throughout the series, but Hansen does a great job of getting new readers up to speed with those details.

Daniella's story is definitely front and centre in this one. Her fear and wariness are palpable from the first second we meet her. Definitely put me on edge. Isaac picked up on it too and it isn't long before he's immersed in protecting Daniella from a dangerous vendetta. Explosive doesn't begin to describe this page-turning read. And once again it's a K-9 member, Abby, the bomb sniffing beagle, who stole a piece of my heart. Love this series to bits.

  5. I haven't read any of the other books in this series so I'm glad that this can be a stand-alone (although I LOVE series)! As always, LI Suspense is my favorite among the line of books. I think I have some of the K-9 stories, but not sure which ones :-) Sounds like another great LI, thank you for your review, Kav! I love when a story keeps me on the edge till the very end!!

  12. I think the K-9 Love Inspired suspense are my favorites. That's kind of an unfair statement, though, since I haven't read many others in this line. ;)

    1. I am really loving this continuity series too -- but I love dogs so that 's part of it. Plus the over arcing suspense plot is really intriguing and there's been so many twists and turns to it throughout the series. Love that too. Good luck, trosado.
