Medical Judgment

GIVEAWAY

MARBRY, RICHARD L.
MEDICAL JUDGMENT

Someone is after Dr. Sarah Gordon. They've stalked her and set a fire at her home. Trying to recover from the traumatic deaths of her husband and infant daughter is tough enough, but she has no idea what will come next. Her late husband's best friend and a recovering alcoholic detective are trying to solve the mystery before it's too late, but both appear to be vying for her affection as well. Sarah finds herself in constant fear as the process plays out.

As the threats on her life continue to escalate, so do the questions: Who is doing this? Why are they after her? And with her only help being unreliable suitors in competition with each other, whom can she really trust?

My Review:

I do so love a creepy stalker story even if it leaves me feeling like I need to resurrect my childhood nightlight habit. Mabry has woven a clever suspense with plenty of potential suspects and a criminal with an imaginatively evil mind. There's an equal dose of sinister danger and police procedural along with the occasional menacing point of view courtesy of Sarah's stalker. Shudder. I had a great time trying fit the pieces of the puzzle together and eventually succeeded....sort of. :-)

Then there's Sarah's 'ordinary' life. Her ER doctor persona is self-assured and decisive but that doesn't carry over into her off-duty hours. Not since she was widowed nearly a year ago. I loved the way she comes into her own as the story progresses. That old saying, "What doesn't kill you will make you stronger" seems to take on a whole new meaning when it comes to Sarah. And there's some great faith exploration as well, involving several characters. A captivating suspense that will keep you turning pages right to the end.

  1. I have several of Mr Mabry's novels (all yet to be read) but my mom read each one of them while she was visiting in June. More like devoured!!! She's a retired LPN and for her to enjoy a medical thriller like this is saying a lot...I know I'm in for a treat with this since I too, love medical suspense/thrillers!
Now to whittle down my massive TBR pile!!

    1. I'm envious of your massive TBR pile -- mine has dwindled to zilch. :-( I was going to venture out to the bookstore today but there's a lovely blizzard swirling around my little house. Very Christmasy but not conducive to venturing far afield. Good luck, Trixi.

    2. Yes, I saw the sad sight on FB the other day and I sure wished I could ship you some of my books...seriously! I have too many with too little time to read :-/ I think I've gone a bit overboard for my enthusiasm to review for authors....gah!! That sounds like an oxymoron, but it's true. I may have to cut a few out and I hate the thought of it.

I'm not entering for this book as I own it.

    3. Ah...is it one of the books in your massive TBR pile? Luckily I've read ahead for review purposes but I might have to get creative by the end of next week. :-)

    4. Yes....I think I have a total of four of his books, not for review but that I've won. It seems my review books take up my time and I can't get to the ones I've won or bought for myself. That sounds bad doesn't it? Some days I just want to read for fun :-) (that especially sounds bad) because I love to read and never want it to feel like a "chore"!

  2. Dr. Mabry is one of the best Christian authors I have read. He tends to put the right balance into his books. Mystery, suspense,Christianity and just a bit of romance. His books are clean reads. Thanks for the review. I am sure it is an excellent read.

I really enjoy Dr. Mabry's stories. They're so suspenseful, and I like the clean romance he artfully incorporates into the story.
