Curio

GIVEAWAY

DENMARK, EVANGELINE
CURIO

Grey Howard always tired to stay unnoticed...at least, as unnoticed as a tall, strong girl can be in a town of diminutive, underdeveloped citizens.

She detests the Chemists, the magicians-come-scientists who rule her small western town. But she obediently takes the potion the Chemists ration out -- a concoction that is supposed to help her and the rest of the townspeople survive each day.

Then her best friend, Whit, is caught by Chemist enforcers, and Grey feels everything shift inside her. Especially after Whit is severely punished for reasons that go beyond his minor infraction.

Little does Grey know, her growing defiance has a greater meaning. And when her rebellion leads her to the family shop on night, a treaty is accidentally broken. Grey then finds herself transported to a world within an ancient curio cabinet, where the porcelain figures are real, and a strange man knowns as the Mad Tock beckons to her. To escape, she must find a key -- one that could end the Chemists' dark rule forever.

My Review:

Published in 2015 by Blink (a division of Zondervan) which is an imprint dedicated to providing quality, clean Young Adult Fiction.

Steampunk meets Gothic in this imaginative fantasy that held me captive right to the very last page. Be prepared to be astounded and amazed by the author's vivid imagination. This is Colorado like you've never seen it before! Taut with friction, rife with danger and steeped in mystery, Grey's coming of age story is a real page turner. Lots of action, toe-curling romance and even some grisly scenes that I had to read with one eye closed. I don't want to say too much because I'd end up posting spoilers. Best that you just grab up a copy of this book and let the story unfold in all it's thrilling glory. A truly stupendous read.
