Written in Love

GIVEAWAY
FULLER, KATHLEEN
WRITTEN IN LOVE

"Dear Mr. Chupp" - with those three words a pen-pal relationship is ignited and two lives are changed forever.

Jalon Chupp has a past he isn't proud to claim. He's worked hard to overcome his youthful mistakes, and he has recommitted himself to his Amish faith. When he receives a sweet note included in a piece of misdirected mail, he can't help but write back. Soon, the letters he receives from Phoebe are the highlights of his days, and with a hopeful heart, he suggests they meet in person.

Phoebe, too, looks forward to every one of Jalon's letters. Living with her overbearing aunt, Phoebe doesn't have much to look forward to. Then Jalon suggests they meet, and she panics -- although she has shared some of the deepest longings of her heart with him, she hasn't been enitrely truthful about her past. But when Jalon shows up at her aunt's doorstep, everything is revealed. And she can only pray he'll forgive her for holding back the truth.

My Review:

I am quite captivated by novels that include letter writing so this series really appeals to me. Written in Love is the first book in An Amish Letters Novel series and I love the way the author has set the stage for future novels. (At least I hope I'm right in making that assumption.) Because this story is filled with engaging characters and now that I have a feel for this close knit Amish community I can't wait to learn more.

Jalon and Phoebe's love story is sandwiched between a series of fast and furious letter writing. Loved the way the letters morphed into something so much more and yet for all that is said, even more is left unsaid and that leads to no end of complications.

Fuller has crafted an emotional tale of  love and longing and the desperate need to be accepted. Both hero and heroine have made mistakes in their past that not only shadow their present but threaten to destroy their future. Finding their happily ever after involves digging deeper into their faith. Actually allowing the peace that comes from fully accepting God's mercy to work a change in their lives so that a relationship based on faith and love can flourish.

A compulsive kind of read that inspires and delights with promise of more to come in future novels.

  1. In the age of technology and instant communication, this would be a refreshing read! My husband and I had a long-distance relationship before we ever got together in person (we did know each other though). A lot of letter writing and expensive long distance calls went on between us. I still have boxes of our letters though, a treasure trove of our romance story. :-) I pull them out every once in a while and sigh with contentment!

Anyway, Kathleen has a new one coming out August 15th according to Amazon entitled "The Promise of a Letter". It says it's book two of three, so you'll have plenty to look forward to :-)

    1. First -- how exciting that you have kept those letters, Trixi! There is something so much more romantic about an actual letter than a text message, isn't there? LOL

And thanks for the tip on the next book in the series coming out this month. I just checked...interesting because it's not the story I was expecting would be next. But it is about Jalon's sister -- woot! Thanks for the tip, Trixi. And good luck.

    1. In Ontario they are even removing cursive writing from the curriculum! I think it's fun for a kid to get mail...for anyone really (unless it's bills!) Good luck, Susan.

  7. My husband and I wrote many letters (over 60 yeas ago now) while he was attending one college and I another. We couldn't afford long distance calls, so we had to rely on "snail mail." Sad to say, letter writing seems to be a lost art today. This sounds like a delightful story, and I would love to win a copy of the book. Thanks for the chance.

    1. Hmmm...that makes me wonder -- do y'all keep your emails the way you would letters? Or is that correspondence lost forever?

I don't see your email address anywhere unless you add it to your comment. If you don't want to add your email, that's fine -- you'll still be included in the draw -- it will just be up to you to check the posted wins on Sunday and contact me to claim your book. Good luck, BJM
