Dangerous Illusions

GIVEAWAY
HANNON, IRENE
DANGEROUS ILLUSIONS

Trish Bailey is an overload trying to deal with a demanding job, an ailing mother, and a healing heart. When a series of unsettling memory lapses leads to a tragic death -- and puts Trish under police scrutiny -- her world is once again thrown into turmoil.

Detective Colin Flynn isn't certain what to think of the facts he uncovers during his investigation. Did Trish simply make a terrible mistake, or is there more to the case than meets the eye? As he searches for answers, disturbing information begins to emerge -- and if the forces at work are as evil as he suspects, the situation isn't just dangerous...it's deadly.

Bestselling and award-winning author Irene Hannon will capture your imagination with a mind-bending story that will have you doubling back to retrace your steps -- and figure out what you mised!

My Review:

Whoa! I don't even know where to begin. Stop-you-in-your-tracks-from-the-sheer-brilliance-of-the-plot good. I'm still reeling. Gobsmacked. Astounded. Almost speechless. Luckily my fingers can still type. :-)

Extremely clever and cunning suspense. And it's the slow build kind, where you're checking over your shoulder but not quite sure for what. We have insights from the villain's point of view that gives the reader a bit of an edge over Trish and Colin...but just a bit because it's so complicated and twisty and complusively riveting.

And the romance. Oh-la-la!!!! I was on tenterhooks of yearning all the way through. A slow burn kind of kindling with lots of lovely conversation and heart-tugging sideways glances but with a case to solve a professional distance is required...and achieved...mostly. Exquisite.

Honestly, I think this might be Irene Hannon's best.

  2. I'm a huge Hannon fan ever since I read "Thin Ice" when it came out. Which, at the time, I didn't know it was part of a series...so I traced them down and devoured each one in turn. I also read each of her contemporary Hope Harbor books and look forward to Pelican Point coming out in April.
I have this on on my review schedule for November. Two. Books. Away. Seems so long as it taunts me from my bookshelf, lol! You're review makes me even more anxious. I thought the Men of Valor series was stellar...but this is even better...I know I'm in for a ride of my life!!

And now that I know someone who has finished it I'm going to have to sqqquuuuuueeeallll with you privately. Curious to know...well what you knew or didn't know.

    3. Oh she definitely got me. You can check out my review on amazon (no spoilers). It's the first one listed I think (Tracey~book corner fan)

I've read a lot of her earlier LI's, so that's probably why I have read so many. Anytime I find an author I like, I backtrack and read everything they've written :)

  11. I’m in the Irene Hannon fan club, too. What I like about her books is she wrote about my haunts in St. Louis , where I lived for 20 years. I emailed her one time and she told me I recognized more places she wrote about than any other person that contacted her. I’ll read anything she writes. I don’t even know how many I have read. I know I need to catch up on her two latest series. I did read her early LI books and they were cute and like I said she wrote about where I lived and shopped, etc. such fun!
Would love to win this. Thanks again Kav. We are on the same page again! paulams49ATsbcglobalDOTnet
