My Daughter's Legacy

GIVEAWAY
CLARK, MINDY STARNS
GOULD, LESLIE
MY DAUGHTER'S LEGACY

Women of unfailing conviction

Virginia, 1864
Therese Jennings cannot abide the thought of owning slaves. When her widowed mother inherits a plantation, Therese flees to Civil War Richmond, where she works as a governess by day and tends to wounded soldiers at night. But when trouble befalls her family, can she reconcile her obligations with her beliefs? And will love - whether with an old beau or a handsome new suitor - ever fit in her broken world?

Virginia, present day
Nicole Talbot's life is back on track after years of substance abuse. Home from college for the summer, she's finally ready to share a shocking secret, one that raises new questions about a traumatic childhood experience. But when facts she uncovers cast doubt on her family's legacy, she must risk all that she's gained - her fresh start, her family's trust, and her growing relationship with a new man - to unlock the secrets of the past.

From the Christy Award-winning team of Mindy Starns Clark and Leslie Gould comes a thrilling tale of two women longing to follow God's leading, make the most of second chances, and find true love at last.

My Review:

Eeeep!!!! Dual Timeline alert and I'm in a tizzy of reader euphoria. This conclusion to the Cousins of the Dove series is that exceptional!

First off, if you haven't read My Brother's Crown and My Sister's Prayer, you won't have a problem reading this one as a standalone BUT it will spoil some of the mystery in the present day timeline so reader beware if you plan to play catch up with the first two books.

Love how the two timelines are presented and how they mesh together by the end. I'm not sure which heroine I connected with more -- usually timid Therese finding untold depths of courage through her convictions during the last years of the Civil War or Nicole who is bravely battling her way back from substance abuse. Let's just say I was consumed by both stories and leave it at that.

And the heroes both past and present made things all the more interesting. :-) There's intrigue and romance and a centuries old mystery that needs to be solved. What's not to love, right? A perfect blend that makes My Daughter's Legacy an absorbing read.

    1. It's such a great concept for a series -- the cousins in present day finding out about their ancestors and the way it all merges together. Brilliantly done. Good luck, Cheryl.
