Reader's Choice - Historical Romance/Historical Fiction

GIVEAWAY

The best part of summer is the hot new releases publishers are sending our way! SQUEEEP!!! I'm so excited! And I know you are too so here's a chance for you to win a book from your summer wishlist.

Here's how it works: You recommend Christian Fiction with release dates in July, Auguat or September 2018 (up to three a day) and you have a chance to win one of your recommendations! BUT it's a little more complicated than that so be sure to read ALL the details before entering.

PLEASE NOTE: email entries are not eligible this week. :-(

IT'S HISTORICAL ROMANCE/FICTION GIVEAWAY DAY!

To be entered in the draw just leave a comment (or 3) below, including the title(s) of the book(s) in the Historical Romance/Fiction genre you would like to read.

Historical Romance/Fiction

A full-length story or novella collection set in any time period before the end of the 1970s. May cross genres such as YA, Amish, Suspense etc and may include dual timelines.

How does it work?

Easy peasy! Make recommendations in the comment section each day and if you win, you win the book you suggested.

BUT YOU GOTTA FOLLOW THE RULES!

Publication dates must be
July, August or September 2018
Each day is genre specific so
only submit books from that genre
Christian Fiction books only please!
You can offer up to 3 suggestions a day
BUT
they need to be made in
three separate comments
(makes it easier for me to tally)
No email entries this week
(to hard to keep track of
due to # of responses)
IMPORTANT: entrants must submit their own selections
(not piggback on somebody else's login) IMPORTANT
Open to International Readers
I'm all about spreading the good news
about Christian Fiction
all over the globe!

It's helpful if you include your email (using AT and DOT instead of @ and . to protect yourself from spammers) but you only need to add it to one of your comments (per day.) If you choose not to include your email then it's up to you to contact me if you are a winner.

Draw will be held and winner announced on
Sunday June 17 2018

  1. This is not a genre I am as familiar with, but I think Reckoning at Gossamer Pond by Jaime Jo Wright works right?

All of my faves seem to release in July. I think I'll save Gossamer Pond for contemporary day (as I couldn't find many of those I'm interested in YET), but I'm not sure if that will work. It's a dual timeline.

    1. Yep, Gossamer Pond will work in Contemporary since that's one of the timelines. And I thought there were a ton of Contemps coming out this summer. We seemed to be finding them last time round and lamenting that we couldn't include them in that Reader's Choice giveaway.

I didn't know about any of these, Diane so I've duly noted the them on my July page. Woot!!! Good luck!

    2. There might be a heap of contemps, Kav, but I'm not seeing them. Maybe bc they're unknown authors to me, IDK. I'm sure the others will come up with plenty. ;-)

And so, before I click publish, I am now reading the other submissions thus far and see all of these have already been submitted. Popular books/authors and honestly, as I went to other publisher websites and to ChristianBooks, I think I maybe(?)didn't see quite as many non-Amish historicals as usual. But, it is always an ebb and flow with publishing.

    1. Hi, CC. Seems like mid-summer especially is slow for new releases. Maybe it's just me, but I didn't find much contemporary fiction either, unless it was suspense. Found some good sounding suspense novels!

      Delete
    2. Appreciate the comment/analysis! I was trying to remember from this time period last year... and it also would make financial sense that perhaps more books would just be released early in the 4th quarter to grab attention for Christmas gifts.

      Delete
    3. Yes -- I wondered how much would be coming out in the summer but I think September starts with the push for Christmas shoppers with so hopefully you'll find enough titles to fill each day. I think the biggest publishing time is the fall.

I'm soooooo loving that Shadows Over London series. I hope it doesn't stop at three. Good luck, CC.

The Sound of Distant Thunder by an Drexler -- historical Amish coming out in September

Thief of Corinth by Tess Afshar - Biblical Fiction - July

The Kitchen Marriage by Gina Welborn and Becca Whitham -- looks like two novellas coming out in September.

  104. I'm a little confused. Is it three comments a day across all posts, or three comments per post. For example, can I leave comments on this post and another days post in one day (up to six books), or only three total no matter which posts I leave comments on? I've never participated in the reader's choice before. Thanks.

    1. Three title suggestions per day, but each needs to be in its own comment. The next day you can repeat the process. Only three per day though. You can choose three new titles or repeat the ones you've already chosen.

    2. Also, you can choose three titles each day in all the categories. That could be twenty-some each day by the time the last blog post has been posted.

    3. It's three comments total for each category. By the end of the week you should have a total of three comments in historical, three in contemporary, three in Amish, etc.

    5. Thanks for pitching in and explaining Sylvia and Elly! Yes, three different suggestions a day that fit the genre.

  105. Three separate comments only on each day . Only according to that day’s genre. So— only three on each post.

Thanks Kav! It's been a very long time since I've visited your blog. I've been dealing with a couple of brain injuries which have caused me not to be able to read or write well, but I'm trying to get back into reading a little bit of fiction. Thought I'd stop by your blog to see what new books are out. I love seeing everyone's suggestions! I now have some new books for my "want to read" list!

    1. Alisha, you should listen to audio books if you have access to them. See if your library has RB Digital. Our library is connected to that and it has lots of Christian fiction audio books.

    2. Sorry to hear that, Alisha. I can see how popping into the blog in the middle of Reader's Choice Week could be very confusing! Good luck!
