Accidentally Amish

GIVEAWAY

NEWPORT, OLIVIA
ACCIDENTALLY AMISH

Escape the helter-skelter of the modern culture and join software creator Annie Friesen, hiding at the home of an Amishman. With her high-tech career in jeopardy, Annie runs from fast-paced Colorado Springs—and straight into the hospitality of San Luis Valley’s Amish community. There she meets cabinetmaker Rufus Beiler, and the more time she spends with him, the more attracted she becomes. When Annie finds she shares a common ancestor with Rufus, she feels both cultures colliding within her. But is her love for Rufus strong enough for her to give up the only life she’s ever known?

My Review:

An intriguing, different take on the Amish genre. This is a book about choices and values and a pointed look at God's will concerning both. Sometimes disconcerting for this reader as I soooo wanted to go the ungodly way in a few places. So this book stretched my understanding of myself and where I stand on trust and my faith.

Annie and Rufus are on totally opposite ends of the spectrum when they meet.  Their battle of wills and ensuing attraction make for a taut romantic read. Loved the impossibility and the inevitability of their romance.

There are suspense threads in this story as well, but they don't consume it so I wouldn't classify it as romantic suspense. But they make for an interesting read -- especially as the reader gets to contrast the different approaches Annie and Rufus take in facing the conflict.

While there is resolution at the end of this story, there are enough open-ended threads I believe will be continued in the rest of the Valley of Choice series.

A great read for Amish lovers everywhere!
