Sabotaged Mission

GIVEAWAY

RADCLIFFE, TINA
SABOTAGED MISSION

Framed and on the run... with nowhere left to hide.

When a failed mission leaves CIA operative MacKenzie "Mac" Sharp injured and her partner presumed dead, going off-grid is the only way to survive. But her old flame, CIA officer Gabe Denton, has tracked her down and lead a well-connected enemy right to her door. Now with someone trying to frame and kill her, working with Gabe is the only way to clear her name...and stay alive.

My Review:

I was sooooo excited when I found out fave author Tina Radcliffe was writing a suspense book! I've love her contemporary romances and I knew she'd bring that same artistic flare to this new-to-her genre. Plus, I LOVE romantic suspense so this book made me all kinds of happy!

First, it stars a bulldog named Winston! And I think he's my first fictional bulldog crush -- the slobbering, drooling, grinning doofus with a heart to protect. So many happy sighs.

The intrigue in this Love Inspired Romance debut is phenomenal. Plenty of puzzling pieces to fit together with way more questions than answers as Mac and Gabe dodge the relentless pursuit of an unknown villain. Treachery and betrayal play a role in this mystery and that adds some gut wrenching sucker punches as the this hero and heroine search out the truth.

And when they take a breather from life-and-death situations, Gabe and Mac practice verbal sparring with great aplomb. They had me in stitches -- even during the tense times. Radcliffe's dry wit shines in some snazzy one liners. :-)

So, Reunion Romance with tons of action and enough hair-raising plot twists to keep a voracious reader frantically turning pages.

And...eeeeppp...though there isn't any indication that this is the first in a series, the author has laid the foundation for what I believe will be a new series which has me uber excited! Crossing my fingers that I'm right!

The Cowgirl's Sacrifice

GIVEAWAY

RADCLIFFE, TINA
THE COWGIRL'S SACRIFICE

This cowgirl has wandered back home...will she choose her past or her future?

Needing time to heal after a rodeo injury, Kate Rainbolt heads to her family ranch to accept the foreman job her brothers offered her months ago. But the position's already been filled by her ex-boyfriend, Jess McNally, and the only open job reports to him. With Jess as her temporary boss -- and turning into something more -- might he finally convince Kate to put down roots?

A Hearts of Oklahoma Story

My Review:

Sigh. I want to be adopted into the Rainbolt clan. I am so sad this series has come to an end so I'm kinda in a bibliophile funk now that everything seems to be sorted on the ranch. It seems to me there aren't enough Rainbolt siblings to satisfy my insatiable desire for more fun and mayhem. And toe curls. :-) My only consolation is that the author is sure to conjure up more heroes and heroines that I'm bound to love in future books...even if they won't be Rainbolts. :-(

So, though this is a fond farewell, it's an easy enough one for new to the Hearts of Oklahoma series readers to slip into. Once you've had an introduction to Kate and her brothers (fan girling squeal) however, you'll definitely want to read the first three books as well.

Love that Kate is the adventuring rodeo cowgirl -- nice twist as that's usually the hero's claim to fame. And that she's restless and antsy and unsettled about whether she's capable of staying put in one place. Again, that's usually the brooding hero's role. And while, Kate isn't quite brooding, she's definitely sassy and opinionated and often grumpy. Especially where Jess is considered. :-)

He's a hero who captured my heart from that emotionally fraught reunion 'cause Kate was the girl who got away and he's not over that ten years later. Awkward doesn't begin to describe this homecoming. Especially since Jess is ensconced in the foreman job Kate thought would be hers at the family ranch! Cue the romantic tension and don a pair of oven mitts to avoid scorching your finger tips as you turn pages cause things heat up between this wrangling duo.

Radcliffe adds in layers of depth and interest through a bevy of secondary characters who share the page with Kate and Jess. Especially loved the sibling interactions as Kate makes her stand amidst three over protective big brothers. And, of course, what would a visit to the ranch be without some sage advice, delivered in cowboy twang from old timer Willard? And newbie rescue cat Bella who comes with a "horse trailer full of attitude." They all conspire to make this grand finale the grandest of all!

GIVEAWAY OPPORTUNITY:

His Holiday Prayer

GIVEAWAY

RADCLIFF, TINA
HIS HOLIDAY PRAYER

What he wants for Christmas...may not be what he needs.

After receiving an unexpected job offer in Texas, widower Tucker Rainbolt decides he and his twins need a fresh start. But moving on means leaving his best friend, Jenna Harper, and their vet clinic behind. For the first time, Tucker sees Jena as more than a buddy. What if leaving isn't the answer? Maybe what he's been missing has been right beside him the whole time...

A Hearts of Oklahoma Tale

My Review:

Gah, men! Rainbolt men in particular. You gotta love their stubborn, clueless hunky selves. Tucker proves to be just as romantically challenged as brothers Mitch and Reece (Find the Road Home and Ready to Trust.) Once again I've lost my heart and once again it's been broken into a billion pieces 'cause he didn't choose me by the end and now there are no brothers left. :-( Typical Radcliffe Romance Reader dilemma! She writes 'em so we fall hard and then she takes them away!

Luckily there's lots to adore about Jena so my capitulation is just a teeny bit grudging. I mean, she's been Tucker's best friend for seven years and I just met him so I could read the writing on the wall...well, in the book, actually and I knew I didn't stand a chance. A reader can dream, though, can't she? Especially when authors create such swoonworthy cowboy heroes. A veterinarian who rescues abandoned animals. And has two sweet daughters, twins, with the cutest names ever -- Ginger and Hazel. He only has one flaw. He doesn't realize he's in love with Jena.

But that's okay, because she's ignoring the fact that she's fallen for Tucker. Sometimes I wanted to slap one or both upside the head but mostly I spent the whole read actively yearning for them to realize what they have in each other. I might have shouted at them a time or two. And I definitely cried. Twice. Because...Jena's back story!!!!!!!! And the way Tucker handles it. Sniffle.

A rescue sheltie mix named Ernie (for Jena's Aunt Ernestine) adds to the festive holiday spirit as she becomes the poster pup for the Jingle Paws fundraiser! (Such a cool idea. I bet rescue groups everywhere borrow it!) Love this animal-centric story!

And then there's the way the Rainbolt brothers interact -- lots of grousing and teasing but none of them are afraid of some pointed plain speaking when the circumstance calls for it. Tucker is lucky to be on the receiving end of Mitch's and Reece's vast experience with romance. (eye roll -- though they are both married now so....)

Happy sigh -- this is pretty much holiday romance perfection in my book! (ha, get the pun?)

Ready to Trust

GIVEAWAY
RADCLIFFE, TINA
READY TO TRUST

The woman he once loved is back...with the daughter he never knew he had.

Rancher Reece Rainbolt's shocked to learn he's inherited half of Claire Ballard's family farm -- and that he's a father. Now Claire's determined to break ties with the man who once left her behind. But Reece will buy her half only on one condition: she must stay int town to help with the harvest...and let him get to know his little girl.

A Hearts of Oklahoma Romance

My Review:

I might be a whole lot heartbroken because Reece (that's him on the cover) chose Claire and Zoe over me. I shouldn't be so disappointed...I mean I knew I didn't stand a chance going in but a girl can dream, can't she? About a Christian man with a heart for family who has learned from his tarnished past. The kind of guy who keeps his promises and cares about his community and is putty in a little girl's hands. I fell head-over-heels for Reece on page one...okay, maybe the cover had something to do with that too. In any case I was ready to dislike Claire on principle especially since....

Secret baby trope alert. I keep saying I don't like 'em and authors keep writing really good ones so here I sit, eating humble pie all over again. At first I was wary of Claire. I didn't understand why she'd keep their daughter a secret from Reece. That tarnished past I mentioned? Well, she met up with him then but even so, she didn't even give him a chance to turn his life around. To have a say in his daughter life. To even know her. And that got my back up. But the more I read, the more I began to see the bigger picture. It wasn't really about Reece at all. It was about Claire and her own brokenness. And then, I just wanted to give her a hug and tell her everything was going to be okay and I'd give up Reece for her and Zoe. (Snort -- as if that was ever going to be an issue!)  Luckily she has motherly Nan to help her out and set her straight.

"You simply need to call on the Lord when you feel that way. His compassion. His mercy. His love. They are new every morning...You can't whine that you're parched when the living water is right there for you to take." (p 100)

Gotta love plain-speaking, salt-of-the-earth secondary characters who speak truth into the lives of the hero and heroine. Radcliffe excels at creating communities filled with interesting folks always ready to share some sage advice or provide a good laugh. And this book is filled with both. Wisdom and humour anchored in faith and hope.

I seem to have a tendency for falling for the Rainbolt men. I was sure my life wouldn't be complete without Mitch (Book 1 - Finding the Road Home) but I bravely let Daisy have him in the end. Now I've sacrificed Reece for Claire and Zoe's sake and where does that leave me? Anxiously anticipating the release of Book Three -- His Holiday Prayer -- which is brother Tucker's story who happens to be a vet who rescues animals!!!! I might finally meet the right brother and get my own happily ever after -- if I can do away with the pesky heroine the author has written into his story. I guess we'll find out in December. Stay tuned.

My thanks to the author for gifting me with a copy of this book.

Finding the Road Home

GIVEAWAY
RADCLIFFE, TINA
FINDING THE ROAD HOME

Can they find their fresh start with roadblocks around every corner?

To care for her orphaned nieces and nephews, Daisy Anderson moved to a small town for a new deputy position -- but now her job could be eliminated. With potential budget cuts looming, her only hope is to work with police chief Mitch Rainbolt to save their department's funds. But can their fight for her job lead to something neither dared wish for: a future together?

Hearts of Oklahoma

My Review:

"Maybe, just maybe, living in Oklahoma would help them remember the good times, ease their pain and remind them all that God had his hand on their tomorrows." (p 17)

Well, my heart definitely belongs in Oklahoma as long as Mitch is there. :-)  I fell head over heals on page 21 and there's no looking back. Move over, Daisy, I'm after your fella! He's a fixer and a planner with a sideline in trying to micro-mange God though that's not working very well -- especially after Daisy enters his life (and his heart, though there's no way he's going to admit that!) But, oh that stubborn man has to work on his obstinate streak. Especially when it comes to living in the past. As one coworker puts it: "...once he figures out that the future ain't the past, he'll be ready to handle today." (p 124) Which is a pretty profound concept I'm still mulling over.

So now that we've established I'm one of Mitch's groupies (he has many fictional and otherwise!) I guess I should mention the heroine (and my arch rival for Mitch's affections) Daisy. A city girl gone wide-eyed with wonder over country life. Suddenly becoming guardian to five (yes, five!) orphaned nieces and nephews as put her personal dreams on hold as she struggles to rebuild their lives. Small town Rebel is their new start and hunky police chief Mitch Rainbolt is there to roll out the welcome wagon and guide her through the intricacies of small town living. :-)

This is the first book in Radcliffe's Hearts of Oklahoma series and she has done an amazing job of introducing the town and a host of secondary characters but also has given readers a peek into the Rainbolt siblings' lives -- hellooo -- Mitch has two brothers and a sister and they are all going to get their very own stories! And one of them -- Tucker (book three) is a vet who rescues animals! Eeeeep -- yes, this is me fangirling over Mitch's brother after just declaring he's the man for me, but then I'm fickle like that when it comes to book boyfriends.

Finding the Road Home is the perfect mix of funny and teary and exasperating and utterly satisfying. I'm super excited about this series!!!!

My thanks to the author for gifting me with a copy of this book.

Her Last Chance Cowboy

GIVEAWAY
RADCLIFFE, TINA
HER LAST CHANCE COWBOY

She came seeking family...will she find love at Big Heart Ranch?

When pregnant single mother Hannah Vincent shows up professing to be the half sister of the Maxwells of Big Heart Ranch, horse trainer Tripp Walker is wary. Wounded before, he doesn't trust easily. If only Hannah and her feisty five-year-old daughter weren't so impossible to resist. Now, despite his doubts, joining this little family is quickly becoming the cautious cowboy's greatest wish.

My Review:

I'm seriously tripping over Tripp even though he "tends to be as confused as a cow in a parking lot." (p 204) when it comes to relationships and romance and basically all things Hannah! But I can handle that inconvenience if Hannah can.

I mean, it's not often a girl runs into a vegetarian hero in the pages of a romance novel -- especially a cowboy one. Be still my tofu-lovin' heart! (side note: what's with Tripp not sharing his prize-winning vegetarian chili recipe with his avid readers?!) That man sure knows how to keep a secret. Come's from being more than a tad distrustful and a whole lot closed mouth. Except when it comes to Hannah -- then he's all about spewing out all kind of rants which put Hannah on the defensive and then...kapow! Fireworks. As wise old wrangler Dutch says, "Whoo-ee. You two are as much fun as being caught in a thunderstorm in your long johns." (p 84) Which, is actually, a whole of fun! Nothing like sparks and sizzles crackling the pages in an edge-of-your-seat romance!

And did I mention Tripp is a horse whisperer? Gotta love a man who cares about animals, right? Even if he's not that great at human interactions. Unless they are kids. Then he goes all soft and mushy and so did my heart every single time little Clementine was around big ol' taciturn Tripp. Some of the meltiest scenes ever!

And, yes, you may have noticed that this review is very Tripp-centric, but I've been waiting for his story the whole series so indulge me, please. I knew he'd make a great lead in his own story and I'm thrilled that he got to be the hero in the grand finale of Radcliffe's Big Heart Ranch series. (Mind you, that doesn't mean I'm thrilled that the series is over! Sob!) But the author did an amazing job of giving fans closure when it comes to all the other heroes and heroines. Yes, we knew they achieved their happily-ever-afters at the end of each book but it was exciting to get an actual glimpse of what that really looks like. So now I'm a mess of happy/sad and waxing/waning bookish bliss because this stupendous series is over and that sounds so final. Sniffle. But the author promises to head west again with her new series so I guess I just have to patiently anticipate until the first book comes out.

My thanks to the author for providing me with a copy of this book.

Christmas with the Cowboy

GIVEAWAY
RADCLIFFE, TINA
CHRISTMAS WITH THE COWBOY

Home for the holidays
A second chance at love on Big Heart Ranch

Former navy SEAL Zach Norman has been avoiding his ranching roots -- and the woman he couldn't have. Back to visit his brother's widow, Emma Maxwell Norman, and her adorable toddler twins, the bah-humbug cowboy is roped into helping prepare the ranch for the holidays. Working side by side, can Emma and Zach overcome their troubled past...and receive the greatest Christmas gift of all -- love?

My Review:

Sqqquuuueeeeaaallll! I love a good Christmas romance and this one is that...and more. Sometimes a book labeled Christmas can be, well, very' unseasony' except for a scene or two. Definitely not the case here. Christmas is front and center and the perfect incentive to jump-start a second chance romance.

She's an over-analyzing overachiever with a complicated cowboy in her sightline. Emma might as well be Mrs. Claus's personal shopper and baker while Zach's holdiay mentor is Scrooge. Be prepared for a Christmas clash of epic proportions! A festive frenzy of  snappy banter and holiday hijinks as Emma lures Zach over to the light side. Christmas lights that is. Gazillions of them that need to be strung all over Big Heart Ranch. And that's just the beginning of her cowboy-do-list. I almost felt sorry for Zach, trying so hard to maintain his bah humbug facade while Emma's in full Christmas cheer mode.

And can we talk disgruntled cowboys? Blissful sigh. Not that Zach's mean or stingy or anything like that. More nobly stoic because his history with Christmas is anything but cheery. Watching Zach slowly thaw under Emma's boundless enthusiasm for all things festive is pure reading delight. It doesn't take long for him to have a holiday ephiphany of his own. Cue the toe-curls and fainting couch!

This third book in Tina Radcliffe's Big Heart Ranch series can be read as a standalone but you should read them all because they are scrumptiously good. And, if you are a fan, you'll be thrilled to reconnect with a bevy of favourite characters. Including Dutch and his isms -- prolific snippets of sage advice cowboy style. "Gossip spreads like a sneeze through a screen door around here." (p 149)

A great blend of love, laughter and faith -- exactly what I look for in a holiday romance.

My thanks to the author for providing me with a copy of this book.

Falling for the Cowgirl

GIVEAWAY
RADCLIFFE, TINA
FALLING FOR THE COWGIRL

She won the job...can he win her heart?

Hiring Amanda 'AJ' McAlester as his assistant at the Big Heart Ranch isn't foreman Travis Maxwell's first choice -- but his sisters insist she's perfect for the job. And AJ's determined to prove she's just as qualified as any man. But with money on the line, AJ and her innovative ideas could put him at risk of losing everything...including his heart.

My Review:

What can you do with a hero and heroine who are "...each riding a stubborn mule going in the wrong direction?" (p 208) Settle in for a an awesome reading adventure, that's what!

Travis is a wee bit annoying in a macho man kind of way. He doesn't mean to be, really...at least he catches himself after he's stuck a cowboy boot in his mouth and AJ gets riled. Mind you, she's a mite sensitive so she tends to over react. Be prepared for some fireworks and angst along with plenty of laughter as these two wrangle their way into a happily ever after.

Love this series -- the whole premise of Big Heart Ranch -- a home for orphaned, abused and neglected children is epic! This is the second book in the series but reads easily as a standalone. I love the way the author has created a real community on the ranch with memorable secondary characters and it was a joy to meet up with them again. Like the feisty old cowboy, Dutch, whose gruff exterior hides a marshmallow heart. And he's always ready with appropriate cowboy wisdom when the situation calls for it.

Not to mention Tripp...be still my heart, 'cause I'm tripping over Tripp! He's pretty much in the background of this story...you know, the strong silent type with a mysterious past. Oh...and he's a vegetarian! Eeeeppp!!! A vegetarian cowboy! I never thought I'd see the day. That's my dream come true right there and all I can say is Tripp better star in the next book or I'll be one very disgruntled reader.

My thanks to the author for providing me with a copy of this book.

Claiming Her Cowboy

GIVEAWAY
RADCLIFFE, TINA
CLAIMING HER COWBOY

Her temporary cowboy

Attorney Jackson Harris regularly goes toe-to-toe with the world's toughest lawyers -- but none of them compare to Lucy Maxwell. The feisty director of Oklahoma's Big Heart Ranch for orphans is as stubborn as she is pretty. But Jack must stay focused: he's only there to evaluate the ranch's funding. Falling for Lucy and the sweet children she protects is out of the question. Though Lucy is determined to keep the ranch she's not about to give control to a city slicker -- even a devastatingly good-looking one. But as they bump heads, Jack and Lucy gradually nudge open their hearts. Could a temporary cowboy become a permanent part of Lucy's life?

Big Heart Ranch: where new beginnings are found

My Review:

First off. That cover!!!!! Kind of makes a fainting couch warning redundant since you're already in full swoon mode. And yes, Jack, that 'white collar rebel' (p 61) is just as alluring as that cover art promises.

The citified Oklahoma boy is getting back to his roots and it's a baptism by fire thanks to Lucy's wicked sense of justice (aka humour.) This is romantic comedy at it's finest. One scene in particular -- involving a certain cantankerous Mrs. Carmody filled me with giddy delight. In fact, I pretty much snort/hiccuped my way through the entire read because that's what happens when I laugh and cry at the same time and Radcliffe is really good at fusing humour with heart-wrenching tenderness. I was a sniveling mess by the end.

So we start out with fireworks right from the first meet. He's determined to protect his aunt's considerable income from 'shysters' like Lucy. She's fuming over his tightfisted reins on the large donation her family counts on to keep their ranch for orphans running. These two are a riot together -- the micro manager in her doesn't want to give an inch. She's all about control and he's all about wresting it from her. Sparks fly, tempers flare and it's time to cue the wickedly clever banter. And all that charged electricity serves to heighten the romance because "He'd rather argue with Lucy than spend time with anyone else." (p.118)

And while Miss Lucy was busy claiming her cowboy, I was losing my heart to the littlest cowboy on the ranch. Gape-toothed, tousled haired five-year-old Dub might just outshine Jack as hero of the day. The little guy has a Goliath size faith and he isn't afraid to show it.

Heartwarming, toe-curling and hilarious. What's not to love? And kudos to the author for using fiduciary in a sentence more than once. It really doesn't get better than this.

My thanks to the author for gifting me with a copy of this book.

Rocky Mountain Cowboy

GIVEAWAY

RADCLIFFE, TINA
ROCKY MOUNTAIN COWBOY

A cowboy's second chance...

The last person cowboy Joe Gallagher thought he'd see on his ranch was high school sweetheart Rebecca Anshaw Simpson. Twelve years after she married another man, she's back as his physical therapist. But healing his body is nothing compared to guarding his heart from the woman he never forgot. There's much the single mom would rather forget, but Becca won't let regret and a surly rancher get in the way of her job and the chance to start over with her little girl. She has only a few weeks to make peace with her past. But Becca never expected she'd fall all over again for her first love.

My Review:

Why am I reduced to mush by a brooding cowboy nursing a broken heart? That's the perfect description of Joe Gallagher and the reason my heart is hammering a mile a minute just thinking about him. His independent-bordering-on-foolish nature gives Becca plenty of trouble and brought me hours of reading enjoyment. :-) Stubbornly clinging to past hurts, he's determined to get the pesky woman out of his sight as fast as possible. He just didn't bargain on her equally stubborn nature -- not to mention her cute-as-a-button daughter with hero worship in her eyes. There's angst and laughter, tenderness and heartache and the sweet promise of happily ever after. The kind of story guaranteed to sweep a reader away into romantical bliss.

Rocky Mountain Reunion

GIVEAWAY

RADCLIFFE, TINA
ROCKY MOUNTAIN REUNION

A Second Chance at Forever

Nurse Anne Matson's structured life derails when a familiar patient enters her ER—the ex-husband she left ten years ago. Matthew Clark is the last person she expects to see in Paradise, Colorado, especially with a nine-year-old daughter. The single dad is running the town's biggest expansion project, but one thing stands in his way—Anne's Victorian home. When his daughter falls ill, and Anne volunteers to help with her care, Matt recognizes he's never stopped loving the spirited beauty. But how can he get her back when he plans to take all she has left…or can Anne see she has everything to gain—the family she's been denied?

My Review:

A delightfully tense (and wickedly funny) second chance romance.

Anne's world turns upside down when she runs into Matt in the middle of her ER. As far as first meets between hero and heroine go -- this one is priceless. And while Anne is reeling from the shock of meeting up with her ex-husband  after a decade apart, her exuberant coworkers have a field day at her expense. "The nursing assistants did rock-paper-scissors to see who got to wheel him to X-Ray."

Snort. And, yes, he's seriously that droolworthy. Proud and hurting, he doesn't want to feel anything for the woman who broke his heart. Keeping his distance is the obvious answer -- except circumstances keep conspiring against him. Love the hesitant tenderness that slowly creeps into their standoffish relationship. But, oh my goodness, it's complicated!

Funny and heart-rending by turn, this is the kind of love story that makes you want to stand up and cheer for the blockbuster ending.

A HEART FULL OF CHRISTMAS

There's no time like the holidays to fall into romance with some of the best-known inspirational romance authors around! No matter what part of the country (or world!) you're from, these tender, holiday themed romances make you feel the joy of a faith-filled Christmas and the tender spirit of angels with every page you turn! Join these authors as they transport you to a "Joy-to-the-World" type happy-ever-after, the kind of joy every couple deserves!

A Miracle For Christmas by Debby Giusti -- Nurse Brigid O'Grady refuses to open her heart to NYPD Detective Tony Calabrese, knowing she could lose him to the gang violence that killed her dad. But, while working to save a patient on Christmas Eve night, Brigid is confronted by the very danger she most fears. Can Tony save Brigid -- or do they both need a miracle to make the darkness turn merry and bright.

Home to His Heart by Ruth Logan Herne -- Being in Ashton, Pennsylvania at Christmas time holds nothing but bad memories for Dr. Tess Cosgrove. Jake Karralis is at a tough professional crossroads. When Tess meets her high school nemesis living across the street with his twin sons, the stakes suddenly change. Can the timing of a young angel and the glory of a newborn king bring peace and happiness to two troubled souls? It can, with a little help from baklava and hand-rolled cannolis!

Under the Mistletoe by Tina Radcliffe -- Wrap your heart around a cozy little romanced that starts with a red wool scarf, an angel or two, and ends with Ben Logan and Lucy Fielding under the mistletoe.

Holiday Homecoming by Sandra Leesmith -- Debbie fell in love with surfer, David Martin. Against her parent’s wishes, she married her first love. Would the help of an angel and the influence of the Christmas season bring forgiveness and redemption?

Snowflake Kisses by Missy Tippens -- Unlucky in love, police deputy Hardy Greenway has spent his life in the friend zone. But now he’s fallen hard for the girlfriend of his nemesis. Dori Blanchette has been waiting for a proposal. But how can she say yes when she has feelings for Hardy? With Christmas tree ornaments playing spontaneously and secrets being revealed, there’s no telling who will end up together at Christmas!

My Review:

These diverse stories share an angel theme that evokes the special wonder of Christmas. It was fun becoming acquainted with angels in different guises. Uplifting tales of heart and faith.

A Miracle For Christmas by Debby Giusti -- Filled with tension, fraught with danger and cloaked in the magic of Christmas. This one gave me goosebumps. A classic Christmas tale laced with the kind of hope only an angelic messenger can bring.

Home to His Heart by Ruth Logan Herne -- The pain of emotional childhood scars play a pivotal role in this heart-tugging Christmas tale of loss and hope. Realistic in its naked honesty, this novella has the power to heal even as it entertains and includes a five star toe-curling kiss. Melted in a puddle on the floor. Tender. Passionate. Soothes away a world of hurts. Thud.

Under the Mistletoe by Tina Radcliffe -- Sharp and snappy with more than a touch of Christmas magic. Ben and Lucy have been friends since childhood and it doesn't look like anything will come of Ben's unrequited love until an angel (or two) get involved.  Heartwarming and smile-inducing.

Holiday Homecoming by Sandra Leesmith -- A beautiful story of family and forgiveness. It's told from the perspective of an older woman telling her friends about her first love. A unique angle for a romance and I loved the snippets of old friends gathered together as much as the romantic memories. Made it more poignant somehow.

Snowflake Kisses by Missy Tippens -- A touching love story that's not without its share of complications. Hardy hasn't chosen an easy path to romance. I was fuming on his behalf more than a time or two and cheering Dori on once she begins to see the light. The angelic presence is more subtle in this novella, but makes a huge impact nonetheless.

Safe in the Fireman's Arms

GIVEAWAY

RADCLIFFE, TINA
SAFE IN THE FIREMAN'S ARMS

Fireman to the Rescue

Running away from her sheltered life, Maggie Jones wants to start fresh. Instead, she finds trouble in Paradise, Colorado. Within days she's on the radar of fire chief Jake MacLaughlin. And when her family starts to play matchmaker, Maggie's plans for a quiet life are turned upside down. Though he's the small town's most eligible bachelor, Jake is far from a playboy. The widower isn't interested in dating. But when Maggie transforms from mousy to magnificent, and suitors start lining up, the fireman can't resist a rescue. Pretending to be a couple rekindles their spark for life…and for love.

My Review:

Romantic comedy at its best. I love the way Radcliffe puts a spin on scene endings that leave me chuckling out loud. But there are some lovely heart-tugging scenes as well. The perfect combination for a captivating read.

Best secondary character ever -- Bitsy Harmony. There's nothing bitsy about the impact she makes on the story...or the whole town of Paradise for that matter. According to Bitsy, "If you came here for quiet, fine. If you came here for privacy, well, good luck." And that's the problem Maggie runs into. There's plenty of folks in town who aren't shy of sticking their nose in her business and that's one of the things that makes this read so much fun.

Maggie and Jake don't stand a chance with what seems like the whole town conspiring against them (with Bitsy in the lead, of course.) And really, who can resist a fire fighting hero who rescues kittens? Not me, that's for sure! The kind of book that keeps you smiling long after the story is over.

WITH THIS KISS CONTEMPORARY COLLECTION : FIVE INSPIRATIONAL STORIES OF FAITH, HOPE AND LOVE

Five heart-stirring Christian romances of faith, hope and love! This new collection by five of the “Seekers” (the multi-published authors from www.seekerville.blogspot.com) will make you smile, sigh and remind you why we love happily ever afters! What happens when a fun mix of best-selling, multi-published, award-winning authors decide they have time on their hands? They write sweet novellas for their beloved readers! Jump into this delightful group of second-chance stories, tales of new beginnings, new starts and second chances for one incredibly low price! Because doesn’t everyone deserve a second chance?

Safe Shelter by Mary Connealy: Janna is a frightened woman hiding from a stalker. She finds a job using a disguise and a new name. Scott, her boss, has burned too many times by lying women. Feelings grow between them until the truth comes out in an explosion of violence that endangers their lives and risks their fragile, new love.

Drama and comedy collide in this captivating story. Connealy's contemporary heroine has all the grit and determination of her historical ones. Loved getting inside Janna's head, discovering the complex layers that make her so intriguing to Scott. The best kind of romance -- where a HEA seems doomed from the start and therefore so much more satisfying by the time you reach the end.

Second Chance Sheriff by Ruth Logan Herne introduces another Karralis cousin. We met Rafe in the Hope for the Holidays collection, now we meet Deputy Dimtrios (Jim) Karralis as he rescues Salena Ramos and her newborn nephew from the jaws of human traffickers who killed her sister and stole the baby. But when danger looms from inside the sheriff’s department, will Dimi and Lena get the second chance they both deserve?

Romantic suspense from Ruth Logan Herne?! What an awesome surprise. The opening scene is an attention-grabber. After that I was tripping over words in my haste to find out what was going to happen next. Herne packs a lot of action, suspense and sweet romance in this novella!

Where the Eagle Flies by Sandra Leesmith: Sid Bradshaw has loved Melissa Anderson since they were children. He stepped back for years while Melissa followed her dreams to travel. He is hoping that he will have a second chance to win her love while on an outing with their families. A summer monsoon leaves the pair stranded in an isolated cove. Will this harsh land where the eagle flies show Melissa she has loved Sid all along?

A riveting survival story. Leesmith has the uncanny ability to take a setting and turn it into a secondary character. I love the way she transports me to different places and makes me feel like I've actually visited them. In this story, Lake Powell, Arizona is the 'secondary character' acting as the catalyst that plunges Sid and Melissa into a journey of self-discovery and a second chance at love.

No Time for Love by Tina Radcliffe: Nicki Baldwin's on the career fast track, until things come to a screeching halt courtesy of the mystery man who bought the property she has slated for a coffee shop out from under her. Steven Smith has met his former lifestyle in Nicki. Can he convince the beautiful hard hat to slow down and taste the pasta?

I'm smitten! Steven is the kind of hero it's easy to fall for. Audacious, introspective, easy-going, killer charm...and most appealing of all -- he's sure of himself. He's figured life out the hard way and he's in a good headspace. Enter Nicki who hasn't and isn't. Until Steven weaves his magic. Readers will be spellbound.

His Heart to Hold By Missy Tippens: Single dad Matt Bassani doesn’t need a watch dog during his daughter’s visit. But his ex-wife’s best friend, Taryn Minton, seems to thinks so. Will she be able to keep her promise to her best friend, or could the hunky dad win her over?

Wow -- talk about emotional upheaval. I was righteously indignant for Matt a time or two...or three. And Taryn's torn loyalties had me alternately shouting at her and cheering her on. LOL. This is the kind of romance that keeps you on emotional tenterhooks until the very end.

My Review:

Please note: available in ebook format only.

A wonderful collection of Christmas novellas from a powerhouse group of writers. Each story delivers the kind of soul-satisfying read we are accustomed to getting from a full length novel.

"Hope for Christmas" by Mary Connealy :  A real treat for Connealy fans as we get to fast forward several generations in the Harden family. Love how widespread Silas and Belle's progeny is. A tongue-in-cheek read with the thrill of action, villains and lots of humour.

“Her Christmas Cowboy” by Audra Harders : Infuriatingly captivating. The first scene had me spitting nails. Talk about grabbing - and keeping - a reader's attention! Harders delivers a an emotional tale of forgiveness and new beginnings. A perfect theme for a Christmas read.

"Longing for a Miracle" by Ruth Logan Herne : Keep a box of Kleenex close to your side while read this one. Herne doesn't pull any punches -- no surprise there. Raw, gritty and sublimely hope-filled.

"A Heart Full of Hope" by Sandra Leesmith : I love how Leesmith infuses her stories with the essence of setting. Her descriptive words create pictures that carried me away to Spain. A sweet and gentle love story that explores the true meaning of commitment.

“I’ll be Home for Christmas” by Tina Radcliffe  : A quirky and upbeat love story full of complications and no shortage of angst. Impeccable pacing kept me breathlessly racing for the conclusion, but when I got there I was devastated that the story was over so soon!

"One Perfect Gift" by Missy Tippens  : A beautiful love story with a Cinderella twist. Tippens captures the hope and magic of Christmas in this touching tribute to what matters most. The kind of story that warms you from the inside out.

Stranded with the Rancher

GIVEAWAY

RADCLIFFE, TINA
STRANDED WITH THE RANCHER

The Doctor and the Cowboy

Stranded at single father Dan Gallagher's ranch during a Colorado blizzard, Dr. Beth Rogers is counting the days till the roads are clear. She can't wait to leave for her exciting new life in New York. But suddenly the big-city doctor is delivering babies in log cabins, helping to feed newborn calves and teaching Dan's little girl to play hymns on the piano. No-nonsense Beth even throws a snowball or two at the handsome, love-shy cowboy. She thought she had her heart set on leaving, so why does she dream of Dan asking her to stay forever?

My Review:

Watching this hero and heroine dance around their obvious attraction is deliciously frustrating. It's the kind of read where you want the hero to kiss the girl already, but you know if he does the story will be almost over so you persevere through the almosts in gleeful anticipation.

Beth's story tugged at my heartstrings. She comes from a past that has left glaring gaps in her psyche. When we first meet her she's living her life from a scripted five year plan. There is no room for variations. Rigid. Desperate to fill the emptiness with busyness. But God has His own plans and they veer in a whole different direction. It takes a blizzard and a series of life experiences Beth could never have imagined to turn her around.

Her abandoned wonder at the simplest things really touched a chord with me. For all her academic success, she is really a lost soul. You might say Dan is just what the doctor ordered. A full time pharmacist (and part-time rancher), he has the prescription that could save Beth's life...if she has the courage to follow through with it.

Mending the Doctor's Heart

GIVEAWAY

Radcliffe, Tina
Mending the Doctor's Heart

A new job in Paradise, Colorado, seems like the perfect fresh start for Dr. Ben Rogers. Only problem is, Dr. Sara Elliott has been counting on getting the same job. Once they negotiate a shared trial run, Ben expects working with Sara to be less than pleasant. Instead, he finds himself drawn to her. She's dedicated and compassionate, exactly the type of woman he used to want—when family was an option. Yet Ben is surprised to learn that Sara's life is just as emotionally complicated as his own. And if there isn't room for both of them at work, how can they make room for each other in their hearts?

My Review:

Tense medical scenes bring a fresh dimension to this Love Inspired novel. Radcliffe grabbed my attention with an action-packed, emotionally charged opening scene that set the stage for the rest of the book. She excels at teasing her readers with enticing bits of backstory that add dimension and power to the her characters' storylines. But the reveal is slow, leaving me chomping at the bit to know it all right away! Ben's past in particular was artfully developed to a fulfilling resolution.

I loved how the author builds the romance between Ben and Sara. From fireworks to tenderness, my emotions raged right along with theirs. The obstacles in their path are believably complicated, the message that God is the answer to simplifying those complications comes across loud and clear without being forced. That inspirational message comes alive naturally during the course of the story and that made it a powerful one for me.

A contemporary medical romance well worth delving into.

Oklahoma Reunion

GIVEAWAY!!!

RADCLIFFE, TINA
OKLAHOMA REUNION

Facing her past.

Single mother Kait Field is back home in the small Oklahoma town she left eight years ago. It's time to empty the family home, close the door on the past and introduce her daughter, Jenna, to her daddy. Ryan Jones hasn't quite forgiven his teenage sweetheart, who left him with unanswered questions and a broken heart.

But Kait was never accepted by his controlling family, and they don't seem any more welcoming this time around. Yet now Ryan and Kait are resolved that nothing will come between renewed promises of faith, forever -- and the second chances that neither expected.

My Review:

Radcliffe has written a polished, heart-warming and inspiring romance that will thrill 'classic romance' readers. I love how the characters in this book -- especially Ryan -- were able to look forward instead of wallowing in the past. This twist brought a different perspective to the plot and made for a refreshing read.

Radcliffe also excels with her secondary characters. She has a knack for creating one in each book that almost steals the show from the hero and heroine. In Oklahoma Reunion that would be Gramps. Memorable, funny -- a  Grandpa Walton kind of guy who provided a steadying influence amidst family turmoil. But this wasn't an angst-riddled romance. Rather it's a story that brings hope -- a real pleasure to read.

Giveaway Opportunity:

If you would like a chance to win your own copy of Oklahoma Reunion leave a comment below. Or you can email me at kavluvstoreadATyahooDOTca. Please add the title of the book to your subject line. Draw is open internationally and will be held and announced on Sunday October 16. Good luck!

The Rancher's Reunion

RADCLIFFE, TINA
THE RANCHER'S REUNION

Will Sullivan's reason for refusing marriage is his biggest secret. To Will, it's part of his legacy, like the family's ranch. But then the woman he has secretly loved since childhood returns home after two years. Abandoned as a child the way he was, Annie Harris understands him. But she doesn't know the real reason keeping him a bachelor. A missionary nurse, Annie is planning to leave soon. Especially when a senseless scandal involving her threatens the ranch—and Will's future. But can he trust in rekindled love to see that Annie just might be his future?

THIS STUNNING DEBUT NOVEL HAS ALL THE ELEMENTS OF A BEST SELLER -- ROMANCE, CONFLICT, HUMOUR AND A PLOT THAT KEEPS A READER ON HER TOES. RADCLIFFE'S DISTINCTIVE VOICE IS LACED WITH HUMOUR WHICH MAKES READING A PLEASURE. IN PARTICULAR, I LOVED THE SNAPPY DIALOGUE BETWEEN WILL AND ANNIE RIGHT FROM WILL'S INSPIRING WORDS IN THE FIRST SENTENCE OF THE BOOK. "YOU LOOK AWFUL."

I AM AMAZED AT THE EMOTIONAL DEPTH , THE ISSUES DEALT WITH AND THE IMMENSE FEELING OF SATISFACTION I GOT AT THE CONCLUSION. THE WRITING WAS TIGHT BUT VIVID ENOUGH TO TRANSPORT ME INTO ANNIE AND WILL'S WORLD AND ONCE I WAS THERE, I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE. RADCLIFFE HANDLED THEIR INDIVIDUAL ANGST WITH COMPASSION AND UNDERSTANDING AND THE GOSPEL MESSAGE REALLY SPOKE (NOT PREACHED) TO ME.

THINGS I LOVED ABOUT THIS BOOK:

LOVED TO HATE MARGARET

LOVED THE INTIMATE CONNECTIONS RADCLIFFE BUILT BETWEEN WILL AND ANNIE -- LIKE THIS ONE:

"ANNIE?"
WHEN SHE TURNED HER HEAD THEIR EYES MET IN THE MOONLIT TRUCK.
"I WANT YOU TO KNOW I'M PROUD OF YOU."
SHE BOWED HER HEAD, LOCKING THE WORDS AWAY TO BE SAVORED LATER.
(P.14)

LOVED THE YEARNING - ACHINGLY EVIDENT IN BOTH OF THEM AND YET DETERMINEDLY PUSHED ASIDE THROUGH MOST OF THE BOOK.

LOVED ROSE!!!!!! A PERFECT SECONDARY CHARACTER WHO KNOWS ALL AND IMPATIENTLY BIDES HER TIME AS SHE WATCHES WILL AND ANNIE DANCE AROUND ONE ANOTHER.

LOVED THAT WILL AND ANNIE WERE CONNECTED FROM THEIR PAST. GROWING UP TOGETHER PROVIDED A CLOSENESS THAT HELPED PROPEL THE ROMANCE REALISTICALLY

LOVED WHAT I THINK IS A HINT ABOUT THE NEXT IN THE SERIES WHICH WILL BE OUT LATE 2011.
