The Veteran's Vow

GIVEAWAY

LYNN, JILL
THE VETERAN'S VOW

Could his biggest fear be what he needs to heal?

After a traumatic brain injury, military vet Behr Delgado refuses the one thing that could him -- a service dog. But Ellery Watson is sure the perfect pup will change Behr's life and offers to work with him one-on-one. As Behr sets about overcoming his fears. Ellery's surprised find herself opening about her troubled nephew. Will family obligations force them to deny what's in their hearts.

A K-9 Companions Story

My Review:

Gah! There's so much I want to say about this book but I won't because...spoilers! I was completely captivated from the very first page...from the front cover, actually! I am so loving this multi-authored series that highlights different kinds of companion working dogs and this one is fabulous!

Love the dynamics between Behr and Ellery. She's one determined firecracker which both amuses and frustrates him. 'Cause Behr isn't going to make the whole dog training thing easy on anyone and you all know I love me a grumpy hero with a crusted over heart of gold. :-) But Ellery isn't a quitter and he grudgingly respects that. Not-so-polite strangers morph into friends and then...happy sigh, you know what comes next, this is a Love Inspired novel after all. Cue the toe-curls and get ready to break out in a happy dance.

Lynn writes with emotion and humour and brings depth to all her characters, including the secondary ones. Real life issues, faith-inspired answers all woven together to make a sigh worthy escape read.

Raising Honor

GIVEAWAY

LYNN, JILL
RAISING HONOR

Could a shared love for little Honor unite their reluctant hearts?

Nothing will stop Ryker Hayes from giving his neglected five-year-old niece the stable home he never had. But to gain custody he must move to Colorado...and prove to Honor's wary foster mother. Charlie Brightwood, he's more than just responsible. As his visits with Honor and Charlie begin to feel more like family time, might Charlie become another reason to stick around for good?

A Colorado Grooms Tale

My Review:

First of all -- that cover! Sold the book to me even before I noted the author. And sweet, little Honor is the heart of this emotional story as the adults in her life grapple with working out what's best for her.

And, whooeeeee, the explosive first meeting between Ryker and Charlie raised my heart rate to dangerous levels. She's the fiercely protective foster mom and he's the uncle determined to get custody. But Ryker doesn't make a good first impression and Charlie's hackles rise and...fireworks ensue! Loved watching these two warily coming together for Honor's sake. But once their barriers are down it doesn't take long for fireworks of another type to start sparking!

A truly beautiful, honest look at the joys and struggles that come with fostering a child. I especially appreciated the positive, respectful way the author portrayed all involved. So often novels concentrate on the brokenness of the system and I have no doubt that's a grim reality. But there are heartwarming success stories as well and it's nice to see them highlighted from time to time.

Her Hidden Hope

GIVEAWAY
LYNN, JILL
HER HIDDEN HOPE

She once trusted him with her heart...but will she ever trust him with the truth?

With only two weeks to renovate her family's Colorado B and B, struggling single mom Addie Ricci can't turn away help. Especially not when it's her handsome high school sweetheart, Evan Hawke, who's offering to pitch in. As they repair the B and B, Addie and Evan also begin rebuilding their relationship...until a secret from their past threatens to bring it all crashing down.

A Colorado Grooms story

My Review:

This is another Love Inspired novel with a gorgeous cover. Really sets the tone for the story inside. And I am continuing to appreciate the diversity the Love Inspired line is bringing to readers each month.

Jill Lynn is a sublime storyteller. Love the way she digs deep into her characters and delivers a complex story full of heart and hope. And there's a dog, people! A clever, empathetic guide-dog flunkie. :-) And a rambunctious toddler with too much energy for his exhausted mama to keep up with. Addie is overwhelmed -- by life and past failures and the challenge of starting up a B and B business. She can't handle one more thing -- especially not the reappearance of her high school sweetheart.

Evan's only in town for a couple of weeks -- enough time to fix up his parents' house and put it on the market. He never stays in one place very long. Especially not in the small town he grew up in. Too many bad memories -- including the tumultuous ending of a summer romance.

Angst oozes off the page as these two circle around past hurts and insecurities. And secrets. There are sweet moments too. And funny ones. And a great cast of secondary characters (including Belay, Golden Retriever extraordinaire!) and a real slice of small town living. The kind of story that warms your heart and curls your toes.

The Bull Rider's Secret

GIVEAWAY
LYNN, JILL
THE BULL RIDER'S SECRET

Will the truth keep them from a second chance? The next Colorado Grooms romance.

Letting bull rider Jace Hawkes back into her life breaks all of Mackenzie Wilder's rules -- just like he broke her heart years ago. But he's working at her family's ranch while recovering from a rodeo injury...and chipping away at Mackenzie's tough-girl exterior with each passing day. Which is the bigger mistake: falling for Jace again...or letting him go without a fight?

My Review:

"Whoo--ee. The amount of loathing streaming from Mackenzie was enough to heat the town of Westbend in the dead of winter." (p 14) Not an auspicious start to a summer reunion romance but it sure was fun to fume and cheer and sigh over Jace and Mackenzie's mangled and miraculous second chance at love.

Jace is dream-worthy, swoon-worthy and every other kind of hero worthy you can think of. I'm still trying to get my heart rate down. He's just so gallant and stoic and kind and....gah, but he has the patience of Job when it comes to this determined-to-stay-mad-forever heroine. And I nosedived into my fainting couch every time he called her Kenzie Rae. Every. Single. Time. I don't know how Mackenzie held out as long as she did.

The dude ranch setting sparkles along with the Wilder clan. Love how the author has incorporated the siblings into this story as well. Fans of the series will be thrilled to catch up with previous heroes and heroines in spectacular ways! But don't worry if you haven't read the first two books -- The Bull Rider's Secret reads wonderfully well as a standalone!

The Rancher's Unexpected Baby

GIVEAWAY
LYNN, JILL
THE RANCHER'S UNEXPECTED BABY

From bachelor to daddy...overnight!
A Colorado Grooms novel

After his marriage ended, Gage Frasier vowed he'd never remarry or have children -- but now he's guardian of an orphaned baby boy. Thankfully, his friend's sweet sister, Emma Wilder, offers to nanny while Gage weeks a more suitable family for the child. But soon Gage finds himself bonding with his new son...and with Emma. Parenthood surprised Gage, but will love sneak up on him too?

My Review:

That cover! Blissful sigh. Between gushing over the baby and swooning over the cowboy I'm romanticaliously discombobulated. What a toe-curling extravaganza of utter delight! And I'm giving myself a time out in the corner because after reading Jill Lynn's debut novel in 2015 I somehow missed 3 other novels before I got my act together and bought this one! I'm aghast and appalled and wholeheartedly ashamed of myself!

Love, love, love this heroine. I've fallen under the spell of 'the Emma Effect' just like Gage has. It's impossible not to. She's sunshiny optimism to his cynical pessimism. Her passion for life and capacity to love knows no bounds and when she sets her sights on helping someone --- well, best to back out of the way and let her get on with it! And she's harbored a full-blown crush for her brother's best friend for a while now. I grew more and more besotted over Gage right along with her.

Because, hello, cowboy! With a past that's made him bitter. Caused him to doubt his capacity to love but noble enough to honor a friend's impossible request which makes him guardian of baby boy. And -- be still my heart -- the gift he gives Emma at the end! Thud -- that's me swooning so hard I bounced off my fainting couch!

Laughter and tears and the sweet thrill of romance make The Rancher's Unexpected Baby an astonishingly not-to-be-missed-go-out-and-buy-it-now (or win it here) kind of read! :-)

Falling for Texas

GIVEAWAY

LYNN, JILL
FALLING FOR TEXAS

Educating the Cowboy

Raising his orphaned teenage sister isn't easy for Texas rancher Cash Maddox. The girl tests his parenting—and patience—at every turn! But when he asks new teacher Olivia Grayson for help with his sister's grades and attitude, Cash realizes he's facing the toughest trial of all. He made a promise that he wouldn't date and get distracted from his mission of being a good father figure. Yet Olivia's quick wit is drawing him unexpectedly closer to the caring beauty every day. Could it be time to make a new vow…one that'll last a lifetime?

My Review:

There's something about a cowboy hero, isn't there? And Cash is the epitome of all that is good in a cowboy. He's rooted in the land and small town life and dedicated to family. He's honorable and trustworthy and honest. Pretty hard to resist even for a woman like Olivia who is determined to avoid romantic entanglements. There's a sweet push/pull to their encounters as they try to resist the 'untimeliness' of their attraction. Lynn has crafted a fresh love story with a wonderful blend of laughter and drama and a poignant inspirational thread that really touched my heart. An amazing debut novel. Definitely looking forward to more excellent reads from this author.
