My Review:

Wooooooheeee! This is one of my top favourite Love Inspired Suspense novels of all time! It's mind-boggling good. A complicated case, ever-present danger, tense, tense, TENSE (did I emphasize that enough?) relationship between hero and heroine...well, it all comes together in one explosively compulsive read.

And my emotions were all in a jumble. Mostly I identified with Kitty, even though I could see how Ryan could be so...condescending? patronizing?...at times. Or at least come across that way. But, grrrr, I was so seething mad at him for not believing her! Of course, I had the benefit of knowing I was reading fiction and trusted the author enough to believe in Kitty's faith in her father, despite his rough background.

Gah, I was in knots most of the read because Kitty is so alone -- ostracized by most of the town and she just needs someone to hold her and tell her it's okay and he believes her and couldn't that someone be Ryan? Uh...nope...he's supportive and protective but he draws the line at believing a convicted child killer is innocent. Talk about an insurmountable barrier to romance! He thinks she's bullheaded, she thinks he's closed-minded -- these two spar more than they spark. :-) (but that doesn't mean there isn't any toe-curling going on here!)

"I don't expect you to believe me, but I know I'm onto something, and when I finally prove that my father was wrongfully imprisoned, I'll happily accept an apology from you, Chief Deputy Lawrence."  (p 17)

Love me a fiesty heroine with sass and conviction and tenacity! And, as it turns out, so does Ryan...eventually.

Innocent Target is everything that is good and right in a romantic suspense novel x 10!!!!

My Review:

As a rule, I'm not a huge fan of secret baby stories. and that's because I feel there has to be a really good reason for a woman to keep the birth of a baby from its father. It really bothers me when the reason for keeping baby a secret is shallow or self-serving. So, frankly, I wasn't certain about this Love Inspired Suspense story.BUT I'm a big Elisabeth Rees fan so I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and I'm so glad I did!

The secret child angle is really well done, and, without giving anything away, I totally bought into the circumstances that left Josie a single mom and Blade unaware that he had fathered a son. It's a pivotal part of the story and creates some luscious tension between Josie and Blade. And Rees got all the protective mama emotions just right. My stomach churned right along with Josie's as she watched her son hero worship his new-found dad.

Blade is a phenomenal hero but I find myself weighing my words because I don't want to post any spoilers. And there are a lot of surprises when it comes to this intrepid hero. But part of the joy of the read is discovering him as the story unfolds so I'm not going to say much more other than...blissful sigh.

Intriguing suspense and heart-hammering action paired with a second second chance romance makes for a lethal combination.

My Review:

A gnarly suspense and an even gnarlier romance makes this one a nail-biter. Joanna is all grit and determination -- an over-achiever who often reacts before thinking something through. Not exactly the greatest attributes to possess when you're in law enforcement. At times I found her to be exasperating...and then Rees dishes out more of her back story and suddenly her reactions start to make sense. An unusual and unique plot point turns this gripping story into much more than a romantic suspense. Intrigued? You'll just have to read the book. :-)

My Review:

Elizabeth Rees is fast becoming one of my favourite Love Inspired Suspense authors. She delivers intrigue and romance every time and I love the way she achieves a balance between the two. And although the suspense keeps Beth and Dillon hopping, there's still some down time where conversation and confidences flow and I so appreciate the chance to watch their relationship ignite in small spurts. A scrumptious blend of action, suspense and romance (and a dog!)

My Review:

Gripping medical suspense. I always find that a hospital setting adds a bit of bonus intrigue to suspenseful read and this one certainly did. A truly creepy morgue scene followed by plenty of twists and turns kept me blissfully discombobulated.

As to the romance -- you know the old adage about a woman scorned? Well, Deborah lives up to it. She is so not happy to reconnect with Cole...even though his Navy SEAL brawn comes in mighty handy a time or two. Mind you, Deborah is no shrinking violet when it comes to fighting for her life either. Sometimes she's too brash for her own good and that comes from hurt feelings from the past compounded by an unwelcome attraction to Cole in the present. She keeps trying to ditch him, but he's committed to seeing her safely through. This is the kind of sparring romance that has a reader worried over the happily ever after. Thankfully Rees doesn't disappoint and I reached the end with a hearty sigh of satisfied relief.

My Review:

Spectacular debut novel! I am amazed that a Welsh author was able to get into the heart and mind of U.S. military personnel but Rees does an awesome job (from this Canadian amateur's perspective anyway. LOL)

Adore this fresh angle for a Love Inspired Suspense plot. Hello -- female sniper?! Cara is tough as nails, determined to prove she's just as good, if not better, than any male soldier. She's strong and stubborn, intent on correcting a perceived mistake she made in her youth. Her DNA screams protector and that's a refreshing trait switch from hero to heroine.

Problem is Dean has that same protect-at-all-cost DNA marker -- especially where women are concerned. He grapples with accepting Cara has an equal team member even as he reluctantly admires her expertise and professionalism. What a dynamic way to mess with a burgeoning romance.

Mix in plenty of taut action, some hair-raising scenes and a tense plot steeped in betrayal and loss and you get a dynamic romantic suspense.
