A Christmas Bargain

GIVEAWAY

OBENHOUS, MINDY
A CHRISTMAS BARGAIN

Can a property dispute turn into a holiday blessing?

When single mom Annalise Grant inherits a fledgling Christmas tree farm in Texas, she vows to do whatever it takes to make it a success. But when neighbour Hawkins Prescott claims some of her trees are on his property, the only option is a partnership. As Christmas draws closer, Annalise and Hawkins find themselves growing closer as well. Could a family by Christmas become part of the deal?

My Review:

Christmas tree farm alert! Why aren't there more Christmas tree farm stories out in the wild? It's my dream job...what could be easier than growing fir trees? Ha! Well, you might want to ask Annalise about that. I was amazed at all the work that goes into growing the perfect Christmas tree. Loved the farming details the author included in this novel. Makes me appreciate the trees (and the cost!) so much more.

I love the inheritance trope too. There's something deliciously exciting about the notion of being able to start fresh somewhere else with all the details already sorted. Easy peasy, right? Uh, again, you'd have to ask Annalise about that because it really isn't all smooth sailing. There are so many hiccups on her road to starting over and unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your POV) Hawkins is there for all of them.

Love the push/pull in their budding relationship. She's determined to stand her ground and be Miss Independence while he's a Rescuer with a capital R. There's some great dynamics going on between these two. Not to mention Miss Adorbaleness herself, little Olivia, who seems take have inherited her mama's independent streak. :-)

Heartwarming and Christmasy in the most perfect holiday setting of all!!!!

Their Yuletide Healing

GIVEAWAY

OBENHAUS, MINDY
THEIR YULETIDE HEALING

As her plans unravel, can she give her children what they truly need?

Foster mom Rae Girard's determined to make her children's first Christmas with her the best they've ever had -- and she's shocked when the town scrooge, attorney Cole Heinsohn, offers to pitch in. Rae's young charges have melted Cole's heart and he wants them to experience the special day he never had. But when disaster strikes, an imperfect holiday might bring them something sweeter: a family.

My Review:

I do love a good Scroogish story and this one if fabulous, though Cole isn't as bah humbug as the original curmudgeon. He just keeps his heart well armoured...until Rae's foster kids get a hold of it. :-)

Max and Maggie brought so much emotion to this story. And Cole is surprisingly sensitive to their needs. He makes a special connection with little Max in particular which just melted my heart. Rae's too. But this lawyer is definitely a bit of a Scrooge when it comes to Christmas...and happily ever afters, even though Rae and her kids are so easy to love. Sigh, I do so love a conflicted hero. Watching Cole finally work past his demons made for a thrilling read.

Rae is pretty conflicted too what with running her coffee shop, mothering her emotionally needy children and...orgainzing the Mistletoe Ball! How'd that happen? Cole's Aunt Tllly, that's how. Who also conveniently provides her reluctant nephew as co-organizer. Nothing like a little bit of Christmas matchmaking in a small Texan town like Bliss!

Their Yuletide Healing has all the ingredients that make up my favourite holiday read -- romance (of course!), cute kids and plenty of festive vibes all tied up in a happily-ever-after!

A Future to Fight For

GIVEAWAY

OBENHAUS, MINDY
A FUTURE TO FIGHT FOR

All their dreams will come true...if they can work together

Widow Paisley Wainwright's so close to taking Texas event-planning business to the next level by turning Renwick Castle into a wedding venue. Only one thing stands in her way; her longtime rival Crockett Devereaux, who wants the building to become a museum. When the building's owners insist they collaborate to implement both plans, can Paisley and Crockett put their differences aside...and fight for their dreams together?

A Bliss, Texas Romance

My Review:

Mindy Obenhaus has a scheming way of creating compelling characters and throwing all kind of chaos at them from the get go. And then readers get to sit back and watch everything implode. Bwahahaha -- of course she puts the pieces back together, albeit slowly, as she expertly leads her hero and heroine towards their happily ever after. And I'm always hooked from the very first page, emotions engaged and eager to ride out the storm.

I was happily joining Paisley in her giddy enthusiasm as she's about to turn a dream into reality until Crockett comes on the scene, all prickly aloof and confrontational. She has no idea what she did to get on Crockett's bad side but they seem to be at odds more often than not and in a small town like Bliss, they cross paths way too often. And now Crockett has his own plans to fulfill a lifelong dream -- that's in direct opposition to Paisley's. Yowzah!!!

Loved the push/pull in this second chance romance that tugged at all my emotions. A solid cast of secondary characters including a pair of adorable kids made the read all the richer. I was all 'yeehaw!' over that hard-won-almost-didn't-happen happily ever after!

A Brother's Promise

GIVEAWAY

OBENHAUS, MINDY
A BROTHER'S PROMISE

He didn't realize he wanted a family...until he suddenly became a single dad.

After his sister's death, rancher Mick Ashford's determined to ensure his orphaned niece, Sadie, feels at home. And accepting guidance from Christa Slocum is his first step. But just as Christa and Sadie start to settle into Mick's heart, Sadie's paternal grandparents sue for custody. Now Mick must fight to keep them together...or risk losing the makeshift family he's come to love.

My Review:

A tender friends-to-more inspirational romance that has all the feels.

Have to say that little Sadie stole the show for me -- especially the scenes with her very smitten Uncle Mickey. There's something so toe-curling about a rough and tumble cowboy caring for a small child. And even though Mick is way out of his element, he's willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that Sadie is safe and secure and loved.

And that just happens to include accepting Christa's help. Love the way their friendship deepens as they work on easing a grieving little girl into her new country life. So many sweet, heart-tugging scenes!

But it's not all unicorns and rainbows -- not with Mick's custody battle on the horizon. Cue the angst and some emotional nose-diving before we can settle into a happily ever after. Love a romance that keeps me on the edge until the very end!

A Father's Promise

GIVEAWAY

OBENHAUS, MINDY
A FATHER'S PROMISE

He doesn't think he deserves a family...But now he has a daughter.

Stunned to discover he has a child, Wes Bishop isn't sure he's father material. But his adorable daughter needs him, and he can't help feeling drawn to her other, Laurel Donovan -- a woman he's finally getting to know. But can this sudden dad overcome a past ragedy that has him convinced he's not meant to be a husband or a father...and make a promise of forever?

A Bliss, Texas Novel

My Review:

So, um, yeah...that cover! Promises all kinds of delicious goodness because who can resist a hero snuggling a cute baby? Not me, that's for sure! I had to gobble this book up despite the fact that it's about one of my least favourite story tropes -- secret baby. But I'm a Mindy Obenhaus fan and I love the way she spins a small-town contemporary romance so I didn't think twice about diving into Wes and Laurel's story and am I ever glad I did!

First off -- the whole secret baby aspect is handled really well. There's no pettiness or spite or far-fetched reasoning. It's pretty basic really. Stark simplicity and deep regrets boosted by a chance to start over. I got it and didn't feel any resentment towards Laurel (I'm usually seething mad at the woman who has been keeping the secret.) And that paved the way towards my sublime enjoyment of their romance. Because...

Wes!!! Mercy, but that man had me in a dither! I veered between wanting to hug him and slapping him upside the head...maybe both at the same time would knock some sense into him. :-) He's so certain he doesn't deserve a family and yet there's little Sarah-Jane turning his life upside down and inside out. Not to mention her mother -- the woman he hasn't been able to forget.

Eeeppp! Cue your fainting couches...wait, we're in Texas...make that your porch swing and make sure to have a fan or two handy 'cause things heat up as Wes and Laurel discover that happily-ever-afters aren't just in their dreams.

Of course, that doesn't mean it all comes easy. There's enough angst to keep a sensitive reader on edge right to the end. Thankfully, both Laurel and Wes have landed in Bliss, Texas, where a whole community of caring folks are on their side. I love how Mindy creates that small-town vibe. Makes me homesick for something I've never even experienced!

Her Rocky Mountain Hope

GIVEAWAY
OBENHAUS, MINDY
HER ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOPE

She's always played it safe...Can he reach her guarded heart?

Ready to open his camp for young cancer patients, Daniel Stephens must impress foundation overseer Blythe McDonald to ensure she approves funding for next year. But the cautious former cancer patient was once let down by a similar program, and she'll leave no stone unturned in her evaluation. Can he convince her his camp is worthy of the money...and that he's worthy of her love?

My Review:

Definitely a case of opposites attract! Daniel's a heart-throb of a larger-than-life hero -- dashing and adventurous, a seize-the-moment kind of guy with a heart for the Lord and a desire to serve. While Blythe is...contained. Careful and wary and as opposite of adventurous as can be. But, oh, her back story!!!! And cue the fainting couch because the way Daniel approaches her with patience and compassion and a resolute determination. Be still my heart! What a stunning love story! And then there's the whole camp for cancer patients angle that brought even more emotion to the story. And I might have gone all teary-eyed over the epilogue which wraps up the series in spectacular fashion. (No worries if you haven't read the previous four Rocky Mountain Heroes books, they all read well as standalones.)

Reunited in the Rockies

GIVEAWAY
OBENHAUS, MINDY
REUNITED IN THE ROCKIES

A fresh start...and old love reignited? A Rocky Mountain Heroes romance

For widow Kayla Bradshaw, restoring a historic Colorado hotel means a better life for her and her soon-to-arrive baby. But she needs construction help from Jude Stephens, the love she lost through a misunderstanding. Working with Kayla, the police officer finds himself forgiving her -- and longing to rebuild her shattered confidence. But can they trust each other enough to forge a future together?

My Review:

I do love a great second chance romance story and Mindy Obenhaus delivers that and so much more in her fourth Rocky Mountain Heroes novel. The series is centered around a widowed father and his five cowboy sons...yes five, so that means we get one more book in this series. Woohoo! Each novel can easily be read as a standalone though, so no worries if you haven't met the Stephens clan yet. You'll do fine jumping into Jude's story.

Kayla and Jude once thought they had the forever kind of love but it all went wrong and they haven't seen each other in years. And then Kayla comes back to town. Widowed, pregnant and a shell of the woman Jude once knew. And he's dealing with some personal issues of his own.  There's a lot to work through if they want to get back on track with the way things should have been. But the spark is still there, just waiting for two broken, hurting people to stir it into a flame.

A heartwarming, feel good story centered around the hope of second chances.

HER COLORADO COWBOY

Lassoing the single mom's heart...A Rocky Mountain Heroes song.

Socialite Lily Davis agrees to take her children riding...despite her fear of horses. But now widowed cowboy Noah Stephens is determined to help her get comfortable in the saddle. And, at her children's insistense, Lily finds herself promoting his rodeo school. As Noah and Lily work together, will Noah continue to shield his heart...or can they discover a love that conquers both their fears?

My Review:

I'd never heard of Ouray, Colorado until I started reading Mindy Obenhaus and now I Internet stalk the town all the time  The pictures are breathtaking and when I combine those images with Mindy's stories I kinda bliss out in a reading nirvana stupor. :-) Especially with cowboys and horses and cute kids and...cowboys! Like a whole family of brothers who make up these Rocky Mountain Heroes. Be still my heart!

Noah and Lily have both endured some heart-breaking tragedies in their lives and romance is the last thing on their minds. But once Noah's gregarious father starts orchestrating ways to throw them together, this hero and heroine are destined to triumph over tragedy. And I loved every blissful moment of their love story!

The Deputy's Holiday Family

GIVEAWAY
OBENHAUS, MINDY
THE DEPUTY'S HOLIDAY FAMILY

A Family for Christmas

Lacie Collier is determined to give her niece, Kenzie, the best Christmas! But Lacie's got her work cut out for her when they spend the holidays at her Christmas-averse mother's home. With his focus on keeping his own mother's holiday traditions alive, sheriff's deputy Matt Stephens is surprised to see his old friend Lacie back in Ouray. He's always regretted that their friendship became strained after he started dating her sister in high school. But it's pure shock he experiences when he sees Kensie, whose uncanny resemblance to Matt is undeniable. This Christmas will bring new memories for Lacie and Matt...if they can open themselves to the possibility of love.

Rocky Mountain Heroes: Brothers raised by faith, ready for love

My Review:

Delightfully Christmasy. In fact the holiday is practically its own setting. And this is the feel-good-believe-in-Christmas-miracles kind of read that tugs at your heartstrings but ultimately leaves you basking in the glow of all the hopes of the season. Truly scrumptious.

And a certain deputy plays a huge role in readerly enjoyment. You can't go wrong with a hero grimly trying to put the past aside. Poor Matt has a difficult relationship with his father and it's colored his entire adult life. It's time for him to see beyond the hurt and appreciate the awesome guy he is and I know just the the people to help him with that.

Cue the Christmas music because Lacie is determined to make this the best Christmas ever for her grieving niece and somehow Matt ends up helping out...a lot. Blissful sigh. There are so many cute big tough deputy going all marshmallow soft over a certain little princess scenes that I'll issue this warning: be prepared to become mired in swoons.

A sublimely toe-curling, heart-warming and Christmas-celebrating romance. Hope y'all find a copy of The Deputy's Holiday Family in your stocking!

Their Ranch Reunion

GIVEAWAY
OBENHAUS, MINDY
THEIR RANCH REUNION

The rancher next door

Single mom Carly Wagner is surprised to learn she'll have to share ownership of the home she's inherited with her first love -- and first heartbreak -- Andrew Stephens. The man who fled their tiny Western town is back and standing in the way of her dreams to expand her B and B. Now a successful businessman. Andrew has eight weeks to buy Carly out. But Carly's too stubborn to persuade -- and too beautiful to ignore. When fire ravages her inn and she and her daughter move in to their shared property, Andrew's in over his head. Time is running out and Andrew must decide leave and chase another deal...or stay and chase Carly's heart.

Rocky Mountain Heroes: Brothers raised by faith, ready for love

My Review:

The best thing about Andrew is that he has four unmarried brothers who all deserve a happily ever after of their own so this is the first book in a series -- sqqqquuueeeaaaallllll!!!!

A touching reunion story that explores the complications -- and joys -- that come with second chances. Reconnecting after years, Carly and Andrew still find themselves on opposite sides of nearly everything. Still, it isn't hard to fall back into love which only leaves the same conflicts to deal with. But this time round are they mature enough to see their way through to a happily ever after?

A cast of engaging secondary characters including Carly's adorable daughter, twin foals and a cantankerous old man ordered on bed rest along with those aforementioned brothers (!) make this a captivating inspirational romance.

Falling for the Hometown Hero

GIVEAWAY

OBENHAUS, MINDY
FALLING FOR THE HOMETOWN HERO

The soldier's second chance

After returning home wounded from an IED attack, former soldier Kaleb Palmer is hailed as a hero. But survivor's guilt makes him feel like a fraud. He hopes setting up a business in Ouray, Colorado, will give him a purpose and help him forget. But his new office manager has her own plans. Grace McAllen brings light and hope wherever she goes, and she's getting Kaleb to open up. As she helps him make Mountain View Jeep Tours a success, Kaleb realizes a happy ending is in reach, if he can convince Grace to stay in town -- and his life -- forever.

My Review:

A heart-tugging tribute to hometown heroes everywhere. I was moved to tears in places as I lived Kaleb's pain -- and his triumphs -- right along with him. A truly humble hero; a man of faith with a surprisingly optimistic outlook on life...as long as he doesn't have to be confronted with his hero status and all the memories that stirs up. Kind of hard to do in a town that won't let him forget.

Grace is a feisty heroine with a chip on her shoulder and a stubborn desire to keep it there. She's prone to hoarding negative emotions until she's wallowing in them. But there's something about Kaleb's relentless, easy-going ways that have her dropping her guard. Opening up more than she wants to. He has the ability to make her look beyond herself. That's both difficult and rewarding even though she fights change with a dogged determination.

What a great set-up for their ensuing romance. Attraction versus caution keeps Kaleb and Grace dancing around the truth. A riveting read right to the very last page.

Repairing Her Heart

Businesswoman Celeste Thompson has one goal: to make her restaurant and hotel a success. She doesn’t need any distractions, even from handsome contractor Gage Purcell and his two adorable little girls. Besides, single dad Gage is just biding his time before a big job at the mines comes through. But as Celeste’s project springs to life, their arguments transform into attraction. Gage isn’t looking for romance, especially not with another career-driven woman like his ex-wife. But openhearted Celeste is more than just another work-consumed client. She might just be his happily-ever-after.

My Review:

There's something about the surly construction type, isn't there? Especially when you know why he's less than enthusiastic when it comes to a powerhouse city girl like Celeste. Of course, she thinks he's just plain rude. Let the sparks fly! Reluctant attraction on both sides creates quite a sizzle as the pair are constantly thrown together. And Gage's two little girls add a whole new level of delight to an already captivating read. High drama and hilarious comedy make this a fast-paced read that any avid romance reader will happily devour.

Rescuing the Texan's Heart

GIVEAWAY

OBENHAUS, MINDY
RESCUING THE TEXAN'S HEART

Melting His Heart

Cash Coble is desperate for a change. After working in the family business for ten years, he's stressed out and overworked. When he heads to Colorado to visit his ailing grandfather, he finds his mood lifted by the beautiful woman living next door. After a troubled past, ice climber Taryn Purcell isn't looking for love. Especially not with a charming Texan who's consumed by work. But there's something about Cash that captures her heart. Never one to back down from a challenge, Taryn promises to show Cash how to carve out a happy life—one that includes her.

My Review:

We're back in Ouray, Colorado and I'm loving it. The author has really piqued my curiosity about this mountain town with this series. I dare you to google image 'Ouray, Colorado' and not fall in love. It seems to me that Obenhaus has captured the essence of an incredible community. And ice climbers? I didn't even know they existed. But they do, and Taryn is one. What a cool hobby/occupation for a heroine to have.

Love the dynamics between workaholic Cash and free-spirited Taryn. They clash from the get go, but sparks fly anyway and smolder all the way through a complicated and heartbreaking love story. Heartbreaking because both Taryn and Cash are struggling to find their true identity as they try to put situations from the past into perspective. There's some lovely light-hearted moments and just as many heart tugging ones, but in the end, the Texan's heart is definitely worth rescuing.  If you love a timeless, classic romance that packs an emotional punch, this is the book for you.

The Doctor's Family Reunion

GIVEAWAY

OBENHAUS, MINDY
THE DOCTOR'S FAMILY REUNION

His Instant Family
Family means everything to Dr. Trent Lockridge. Growing up without a father, he always yearned for a family of his own. One long-ago  summer in Ouray, Colorado, he thought  he might build a future with beautiful  Blakely Daniels. But when he abruptly fled town, he broke her heart and left behind more than memories. Years later, Trent is shocked—and overjoyed—to learn he's a father. He'd like to earn back Blakely's love and trust— but it won't be easy. And the clock is ticking. He's got only a few weeks to prove that, this time, he's here to stay…forever.

My Review:

Stunning debut novel that is well-paced and chalk full of emotion and romance. I absolutely LOVED the 'first meet' scene. It packed a wallop and discombobulated me as much as it did poor Blakely. The author's expertly developed plot kept me riveted. Snappy dialogue, angsty musings, the crackle of attraction, an endearing boy and a couple of cute dogs -- what more can an avid reader ask for? How about an edge-of-your-seat resolution that left my heart thrumming! Can't wait to read more from this author!
