Unsolved Abduction

GIVEAWAY

NELSON, JILL ELIZABETH
UNSOLVED ABUCTION

The answers to a cold case kidnapping lie hidden in her memory.

Widowed Carina Collins can't remember her parents' murder or her own childhood kidnapping. But when she and her eighteen-month-old son are attacked at their new home, they must turn to neighbour Ryder Jameson for protection. He's convinced Carina's mysterious past is colliding with the present. And when uncovered answers bring more questions, all roads point a little too close to home.

My Review:

Phew! It never ceases to amaze me how these Love Inspired Suspense authors find new ways to spin a common trope. That's a wealth of collective imaginations running rampant and reaping benefits to avid LIS readers like me (and hopefully you!) In this book we're looking at a cold case, suppressed memories and the relentless pursuit of uber bad guys. Edge-of-your-seat doesn't begin to describe it. And it all starts off with this chilling opening sentence:

"In the darkness of her bedroom, Carina Collins jerked awake, cold sweat coating her body."

Is that ominous or what? And you know that all is not well in Carina's world, setting the mood for the whole book. Because things are definitely not right and about to get a whole lot worse. Except for our charming hero, that is. He might be a bit rough around the edges with some unresolved issues he's grappling with but that doesn't prevent him from stepping in and becoming involved. Protector, unofficial investigator, occasional babysitter...and swoonalicious besides.

An intense, action-packed compelling mystery paired with sweet romance and the kind of happily-ever-after a girl can dream about.

Duty to Defend

GIVEAWAY
NELSON, JILL ELIZABETH
DUTY TO DEFEND

The Marshal's Mission

Working undercover at a day care, Deputy Marshal Daci Marlowe has one mission: protect a mother and her infant son from the woman's fugitive ex-boyfriend. But when someone seems more focused on killing Daci, she and her partner, child advocate attorney Jax Williams, must figure out why before it's too late. With her family's tragic past and her experience raising her siblings, Daci can't help but relate to the woman and child -- even as she's drawn to Jax. Daci knows that Jax has his own harrowing past, though, one that makes the handsome defender keep her at arm's length. But with each attempt on Daci's life, Jax comes closer to both Daci and a dangerous truth.

My Review:

Phew! Mind-blowing, heart-racing, brain-teasing good! Seriously -- the suspense is so suspensey that my brain hurt trying to keep up and figure out. I didn't do so well. Guessed something right but got it all wrong at the same time. :-) Loved Daci and her crazy siblings and even though none of the sibs are in law enforcement I can't help hoping they each have their own story too though this doesn't look like it's part of a series. But the Marlowe clan is memorable so a reading fan can hope. In any case, I'll be anxiously looking forward to Jill Elizabeth Nelson's next release because she knows how to deliver a stellar romantic suspense.

Rocky Mountain Sabotage

GIVEAWAY

NELSON, JILL ELIZABETH
ROCKY MOUNTAIN SABOTAGE

Wilderness peril...

When the plane Lauren Carter is traveling in crash-lands near an abandoned mining town, pilot Kent Garland is convinced the charter jet was sabotaged. And one of the other injured passengers may be responsible. Struggling to keep their group safe, Lauren and Kent fight the elements -- and the ill-timed feelings they are developing for each other. But as a string of "accidents" pits survivors against each other, exposing a deadly traitor means looking beyond appearances. Who can be trusted? With someone determined to kill off all the plane's passengers, they must catch the murderer in their midst if they hope to leave this town alive.

My Review:

Action, adventure, intrigue and the sizzle of romance! And there's plenty of fodder for the armchair sleuth. The reader becomes acquainted with all the characters during the intense plane crash scenes -- and pay attention -- one of them is up to no good! But which one? As the story progresses we learn more about each individual's personality as they react to the danger and uncertainty in desperate ways. My head was spinning with possibilities (or maybe it was from hyperventilating over hero Sawyer.) In any case, I definitely felt light-headed by the time I reached the resounding climatic end. Phew!

Frame-Up

GIVEAWAY
NELSON, JILL ELIZABETH
FRAME-UP

Can she trust a mystery man?

Stranded in a blinding snowstorm, Laurel Adams must pin her hope of survival on a handsome stranger. The single mother and her teen daughter take refuge in his remote Rocky Mountain cabin. But Laurel's anything but safe when she discovers a dead body in her trunk…and becomes the prime suspect in a murder investigation. Her rescuer, millionaire David Greene, knows what it's like to be accused. Three years ago he was arrested for a crime he didn't commit—an unsolved case that still haunts him. With the clock ticking, can they stop a cold-blooded killer with deadly ties to them both?

My Review:

I read this book while stranded in my house during a blinding snowstorm so the ambiance was great! :-)  Riveting suspense kept me turning pages at a furious pace. Loved how unique the characters are for a romantic suspense -- neither are in law enforcement of any kind. That made the read all the more edgier -- especially when you take David's past into consideration. I was captivated by the dynamics between hero and heroine...so complicated and that complication is enhanced by the slow reveal of both their pasts. The suspense is unique too, with lots of plot twists and surprising turns. A definite must read for romantic suspense lovers.

Calculated Revenge

NELSON, JILL ELIZABETH
CALCULATED REVENGE

It’s been eighteen years since Laney Thompson’s sister was abducted and killed, but the pain Laney feels has never faded. And now the murderer is back, taunting Laney with mementos of her sister and threatening Laney’s young daughter. School principal Noah Ryder is her best hope for protecting her daughter—if she can convince the former investigator to take the case. As the threats accelerate, a string of clues leads Laney to uncover old secrets. Unless Noah steps in with his expertise, how can she piece together the puzzle before her child—like her sister—is lost to a killer’s revenge?

NELSON'S DISTINCTIVE VOICE KEEPS THIS LOVE INSPIRED SUSPENSE BOOK FRESH. THE MYSTERY IS SOUND AND KEPT ME GUESSING RIGHT TO THE END -- I WAS HALF RIGHT LOL. THE CONNECTION BETWEEN LANEY AND NOAH IS IMMEDIATE AND THE ROMANTIC DEVELOPMENT DOESN'T TAKE A BACK SEAT TO THE SUSPENSEFUL PLOT. RATHER, THEY MIRROR EACH OTHER AND GROW TO EQUALLY PAGE-TURNING CONCLUSIONS. I THINK NELSON MANAGED TO PACK A LOT INTO THIS SHORTER WORD COUNT LINE AND CALCULATED REVENGE LEFT ME A HAPPY AND SATISFIED READER.
