A Texas Bond

GIVEAWAY

VANNATTER, SHANNON TAYLOR
A TEXAS BOND

He came to find the children...will he stay to win her heart?

Learning he's an uncle shocks Ross Lyles - but after years of handling his brother's bombshells, at least this surprise is a blessing. A pair of five-year-old blessings Ross is determined to meet, if he can convince their aunt to give him a chance. Fiercely protective, Stacia Keyes is worried he'll try to take the children...and lassoing her trust is harder than he ever imagined.

A Hill Country Cowboys Tale

My Review:

Happy sigh. This is one emotional sucker punch of a story! Because once Ross shows up on the scene Stacia feels like her life is about to be shredded to pieces and she's already weathered enough loss and woe to last a lifetime. I was sucked into an emotional vortex that didn't spew me out until the very last page. :-) I do so love reading with my heart.

So...Ross makes a pretty dreamy hero. He's the noble, stalwart brother who only wants to do right by his hitherto unknown niece and nephew. Check that the kids are being well cared for and loved and then...well, he has every intention of being a big part of their lives so Stacia will just have to get used to him being around. Only she's gone all adrenaline-spiked mama bear and the fireworks come in epic proportions.

I devoured this book in one sitting and Vannatter delivers heart and faith and hope with page-turning perfection.

Counting on the Cowboy

GIVEAWAY
VANNATTER, SHANNON TAYLOR
COUNTING ON THE COWBOY

Ranching is his whole life...until he meets one special city girl

Texas Cowboy Brock McBride knows better than to fall for a city girl. She'll leave and break his heart -- just like his ex-fiancee did. But his job at Chasing Eden Dude Ranch requires working alongside. Dallas wedding planner Devree Malone. And despite fierce resistance, he's falling hard. Yet with Devree's business back in the city, can he convince her she's found her home...with him?

My Review:

"Help! There's a goat on the roof!" Bwahahaha! Best opening line every! And really, you know you can't go wrong when a story features a goat, right? I was definitely hooked. And I'm still grinning over all the laugh-out-loud critter moments in this romance.

Devree is definitely a girly-girl way out of her element. But she's more adaptable than she thinks and she'll do anything to make her very pregnant sister's life easier even if that includes goat wrangling and rooster deflecting -- especially when it includes the company of one very intriguing cowboy with "enigmatic green eyes, cleft chin and dimples that came out of nowhere." (p 56) Makes her forget she's sour on love.

Brock tries to rein in the instant attraction that flares when he meets Devree but fate (and possibly some matchmaking minded adults) keep throwing them together. Not to mention the number of times he ends up rescuing her from one kind of varmint or another. So much laughter -- and the growing tenderness between them is palpable. Sweet and achy and filled me with yearning. There's nothing I wanted more than for these two to find their way towards each other.

Vannatter doesn't make it easy though. Brock, in particular, has a personal struggle that tied me up in knots! And, at one point, Devree disappointed me -- deeply! Phew, I'm happy to report we all made it through to the happily ever after side of the story!

But he has a powerful secret that could keep them apart forever. Can Colson give Resa the one Christmas present that might finally bring them back together -- the truth?

Texas Cowboys: Maverick hearts find their match

My Review:

The only thing better than a reunion story is a holiday reunion story and this one is awesomesauce with a cherry on top! Lot's of heartache over past hurts dueling with the inconvenient spark of attraction that just won't die. And then there's a sweet little girl who pulls on everyone's heartstrings including this reader's. And Christmas in small town Texas is full of tradition and family and the hope of second chances. Mind you, before that can happen, Vannatter puts this hero and heroine through their paces. A delicious read full of heart and hope.

Winning Over the Cowboy

GIVEAWAY

VANNATTER, SHANNON TAYLOR
WINNING OVER THE COWBOY

The Rancher stakes his claim

When sh inherits half a dude ranch after losing her best friend, Landry Malone is determined to see Eden's legacy flourish. That is if her friend's broad-shouldered cowboy brother will give her the chance. Chase Donovan isn't happy that his sister left their family business to an outsider -- and he's determined to test Landry's mettle, hoping she'll give up her claim. Soon Chase is impressed by Landry's ability to rise to every challenge he puts in her way -- and worried that his attaraction to the perky spitfire seems to know no end. Finally working together to ensure the ranch's future, will their business partnership be the foundation for something more?

Texas Cowboys: Maverick hearts find their match

My Review:

Perfect blend of humour and angst. Chase is so grumpy when Landry first arrives at the dude ranch and his attempts to scare her off turn comedic as Landry shows him up every time. Love her confidence and determination in the face of such blatant disregard. Anger turns to grudging respect as the days go by and Chase has to admit that Landry's not only fit for the job but has a lot of innovative ideas that could help the business. He just can't figure out her angle -- sure she's a gold digger or con-artist. I loved watching Landry prove him wrong and then their hearts become entangled and the sparks start flying and Vannatter leads these two on a merry chase before their happily ever after becomes a reality. Awesomesauce from beginning to end!

Rodeo Reunion

GIVEAWAY

VANNATTER, SHANNON TAYLOR
RODEO REUNION

Raquel Marris needs a man who'll stay put...

And Slade Walker's not a likely candidate. Even if the former major league pitcher just agreed to coach her son's little league team. The single mom can't risk everything on a bronc-riding chaplain who's only passing through Raquel's small Texas town.

Slade is taking a hiatus from the rodeo circuit to meet the sister he never knew he had. But the pretty widowed nurse next door is making him think twice about hitting the road again. He can't turn his back on the cowboys who need him, but Raquel and her boy need him too. Can Slade fulfill his calling and finally find a place to hang his hat?

My Review:

I've heard the term 'cowboy church' before and really enjoyed learning more about this type of ministry through this novel. It sounds like my kind of church (and not just because cowboys attend!) Though I wouldn't complain if Slade turned out to be my pastor. :-)

Rodeo Reunion has all the makings of a classic romance. Dreamy hero with a heart of gold who is struggling to figure out his future. Hometown heroine who is determined to keep a certain cowboy at a distance. A few misconceptions that send the heroine's brother (Brant from Rodeo Family) into protective overdrive which was so fun to watch play out.

A wonderful mix of love, laughter and faith.

Rodeo Family

VANNATTER, SHANNON TAYLOR
RODEO FAMILY

Tori Eaton is ready to start over...

She's beginning a new chapter in Aubrey, Texas, away from her abusive ex-boyfriend. As she picks up the pieces of her broken life, Tori's surprised at the helping hand the church's new son director, Brant McConnell, offers her, and at the warm emotions he inspires.

While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

Brant is drawn to Tori. And as their friendship grows, so do his feelings for her. But Tori is still hounded by her past, and the walls she's built around her heart are high. Can he convince the wounded beauty that he's exactly the kind of man she needs -- and deserves?

My Review:

Starting over is never as cut and dry as we expect it to be but Tori's determined to cling to the hope of a fresh start even though her past seems to be shackled to her. A contemporary love story that celebrates the transformation that comes from living a Christ-centered life. That doesn't mean there aren't troubles aplenty and Tori struggles through so much 'stuff' that my tummy churned in sympathy throughout the whole read. Vannatter definitely engaged my emotions as I walked in Tori's shoes for a time. And I'll admit to swooning more than a bit over steadfast Brant's stalwart friendship that blossoms into a special kind of love. Blissful sigh. Reader satisfaction guaranteed.

My thanks to the author for gifting me with a copy of this book.

Reuniting with the Cowboy

GIVEAWAY

VANNATTER, SHANNON TAYLOR
REUNITING WITH THE COWBOY

The cowboy next door...

A charming cowboy moving in next door shouldn't be bad news. But veterinarian Ally Curtis knows Cody Warren -- she'd never forget the boy who left her when she needed him most. Cody is doing everything he can to show his beautiful neighbor he's not the wild bull rider he once was, from helping her find homes for her beloved strays, to protecting her when her business is threatened. But Cody has a secret that keeps him from fully reaching out. Yet as they continue to work together to promote her shelter, he can't keep himself from hoping that Ally might have a home for him...in her heart.

My Review:

Seriously -- who doesn't want a cowboy living next door? After reading this novel I want one just like Cody -- even though he can be a little close-mouthed in the sharing department. He makes up for that with good intentions and a big ol' heart for animals. What? You thought I was going to say Ally? Well, he is smitten with her, but I'm smitten over his benevolence and understanding towards Ally's strays. I cannot resist a man with a soft spot for animals.  And there are some seriously cute canine/kitty bonding moments in this story. Happy sigh. There's also a bit of suspense which was a fun surprise. And lots of banter and clashing of wills. And...oh my goodness...I laughed myself silly when chapter seventeen came around. Can't tell you why because it would be a major plot spoiler, but funny and touching all wrapped up in one. An awesome Love Inspired debut for this seasoned author.

RODEO SONG

Jenna Wentworth found the man of her dreams

But when silken-voiced Garrett Steele set out for stardom, he left Jenna—and his cowboy past—far behind. A chance encounter at one of his concerts propels him back into Jenna's life. But, once burned by love, Jenna must guard her heart against the captivating singer.

Once upon a time, Garrett vowed he'd be a success, no matter what. But that path shattered his soul. His reunion with Jenna makes him long for things he once took for granted. Now he must show her that he's found what he was looking for all along…right here in his hometown.

My Review:

Crackles with a romantic charge from beginning to end. This read is pure romance at its best. I vote Garrett and Jenna best chemistry in a contemporary romance. To say I loved this read would be a gross understatement. And the opening scene -- priceless. It made me as giddy as my school girl days. :-)  Vannatter has tapped into nearly every woman's secret fantasy and brought it to light with humour, tender passion and a great inspirational thread . If you don't melt over Garrett's earnest pursuit of a love once lost you don't have a pulse. Seriously.

Rodeo Queen

GIVEAWAY

VANNATER, SHANNON TAYLOR
RODEO QUEEN

Caitlyn Wentworth loves being a rodeo...

Until she starts receiving threatening letters from a stalker. The good news is, the Texas Ranger assigned to her case is none other than her former sweetheart Mitch Warren—the man who chose his career over love.

Mitch vows to focus on protecting the woman he's never forgotten. But Caitlyn stirs up memories best left in the past. When Mitch insists on hiding Caitlyn away on his family's San Antonio ranch, will he keep things professional or seek out a second chance?

My Review:

I love a heroine with 'tude and Vannatter knows how to write them! Caitlyn is strong-willed and stubborn and feisty and that's a volatile combination in a romance novel.  :-)  But she has a vulnerable side too, especially when it comes to her former sweetheart. Her stubbornness in that department near drove me insane before the end of the book! How she could resist Mitch for that long is beyond me! The romantic tension between the two is palpable and kept me turning pages while writhing in agony because, well, Mitch is just as stubborn as Caitlyn. A fantastic contemporary romance from a tried and true fave author.

Lane Gray is a changed man. The handsome cowboy wants Natalie's forgiveness—and more. Natalie has made plenty of mistakes in her life, but so has Lane. Could falling for each other again be the worst one yet? Or the path to redemption?

My Review:

Vannatter challenges her readers with the unlikely heroine in her latest Heartsongs Presents release. Natalie has made plenty of mistakes in her past...repeatedly...until a catalytic event causes her to rethink everything. She's determined to change for all the right reasons, but her past is proving hard to live down.  The author has skillfully given depth to this complex character. Natalie fascinated me.

And the hero, Lane -- well, who can resist a cowboy? Especially this converted bad boy seeking Natalie's forgiveness. The romance is complicated by oh so rewarding making Rode Regrets a great summer read!

Rodeo Ashes

GIVEAWAY
VANNATTER, SHANNON TAYLOR
RODEO ASHES

Lacie Gentry, a young widow and mom, is struggling with the aftermath of her husband's tragic death. When she bumps into former classmate Quinn Remington, her future is undecided. She accepts a job teaching kids to ride at Quinn's neighboring ranch, hoping to revitalize her life with an old pastime but soon sees in Quinn a chance to move forward with new love…if she's ready.

It's been years since Quinn has seen lovely Lacie Gentry—the girl he always admired in high school but never came close to dating. By the time they met, Lacie was engaged to rodeo star Mel Gentry then happily married. Now Lacie's closer than ever. The attraction is still there, but so is a secret that might end any chance of romance.

Can they rise from the rodeo ashes?

My Review:

I've never gotten inside the head of a heroine so quickly before. Within just a few pages I felt like I really knew Lacie and we bonded instantly. That's an amazing feat for an author.

Quinn is a cowboy after my own heart. Watching him wrestle with emotions from his past, which act as a stumbling block to his future is just agonizing.  Especially the way the author feeds tantalizing bits of  information that slowly build until we get the whole picture. Loved Quinn's tenderness and the gentle way he watches out for Lacie. And Lacie's stubborn attempts to resist, to be independent as she grapples with widowhood and being a single mom. So much emotion is packed into this read.

Vannatter has woven together a clever and moving story about love and forgiveness and God's ability to carry us through it all.
