My Review:

Phew! Talk about setting a reader up for lots of romantical angst! Married, but not really. Jack wears his heart on his sleeve when it comes to Shannon even though he tries to steel himself against further hurt. And Shannon's just plain discombobulated. She was sure the marriage was over before it had a chance to begin and she's fine with that -- except Jack's the first person she thinks to call when her life is in danger. And she's not surprised when he drops everything and comes running so what does that tell you? That you're in for a rollicking ride on this literary roller-coaster, that's what!

Not that there's tons of time to actually delve into the tumultuous romance -- not with a crew of relentlessly diabolical villains. There's something uber scary about gang alliances. These guys don't quit! And that means Jack and Shannon and their infant charge are constantly on the run. But don't despair -- the Thorn clan has their back and fans of this series will happily posse up with the brothers to keep this trio safe.

Mentink delivers another frantically breathless romantic suspense! (And there's still one brother left who hasn't met his perfect match so I'm hoping that means there's another Gold Country Cowboys book in our future.
