The Rancher's Answered Prayer

GIVEAWAY
JAMES, ARLENE
THE RANCHER'S ANSWERED PRAYER

A single mom. A bachelor cowboy...and an inheritance forcing them to share Three Brothers Ranch.

According to the will, single mom Tina Kemp's stepfather left her his house, but his nephew, Wyatt Smith, inherited the ranch -- including the land the house stands upon. With neither willing to give up their legacy, they must find a way to make it work. Can these adversaries possibly share a home without falling for each other?

My Review:

Snap. Crackle. Pop. That's the fireworks going off every time Wyatt and Tina step into a room together! At first it's open hostility and then it's something much more dangerous. Still grinning just thinking about some of their tussles.

What a great intro to a new series! James gives lots of page time to all three brothers and I love the dynamics between them. Wyatt is the sage and steady older brother who is always ready to step in and support Jake and Ryder in whatever form they need. So when they inherit a cattle ranch and both his brothers are at a crossroads in their lives, they all quit the city and head to Oklahoma.

Loco Man Ranch is the perfect place for them to start over...unfortunately it is also the perfect second chance for Tina and her son. The Smith brothers may own the land but Tina has inherited the only house on the property. Yeehaw -- let the games begin! Snappy dialogue (sometimes snappish!) and lots of spirited give and take make this an easy read to speed through...but slow down and savor the wisdom and faith (and yes, a fight or two) courtesy of some engaging characters.

I am totally invested in these brothers and I can't wait to see what the author has in store for Ryder and Jake in future books. Hopefully book two will be out soon!

  1. Snappy dialogue, sparks flying between Wyatt and Tina, and a cute kid sounds like the perfect read ;-)

New-to-me author, seems I'm finding more & more in Love Inspired! That tickles my reader fancy.

    1. This is only my second book by Arlene James and she's been writing since the 80s! I think she might have been in at the beginning of the Love Inspired line. Anyway, oodles of books. I'm happy to start in on a bookfest with this series. I really love the Smith brothers! Good luck, Trixi.

    2. Funny thing, I just looked up A Family to Share (thanks Tracey) on Amazon. It happens to be book two of three in the Wheeler family series. Well, it listed all the books and I *believe* I read A Love so Strong (book 3) eons ago!! So maybe she's not such a new-to-me author :-) That was very, very early in my discovery of Love Inspired books.

I quite tempted to buy all three books since they sound wonderful...and I love the old covers :-)

    3. Trixi, yes the Wheeler Family series of 3 were some I've read. Book one is Deck the Halls, the sisters story, then A Family to Share and A Love So Strong, the 2 brothers stories. I Enjoyed all three.

  3. This sounds so good! What an enticing review! I love some Snap. Crackle. Pop. Count me in :)

I have enjoyed a few Arlene James books in the past. A Family to Share was my fav, a marriage of convenience story for anyone who likes those (I do).

Thanks Kav! tracey14567 at gmail dot com

    1. Ohhh -- I love marriage of convenience stories (though I wouldn't want to actually live out my own marriage of convenience! Why does it sound so romantic in a book?) Eeeppp -- on a whim, I just checked my library and they actually have a copy of A Family to Share! They used to get LI paperbacks back in the day and this one is still alive and kicking...and out but I put a hold on it. Thanks, Tracey. Good luck!

    2. I love them in a book, but you are right, in real life pretty scary not knowing who you'll end up with. Next time I read a marriage of convenience story I'll think about what those characters are going through a little more.
I know Stephanie Dees has one coming out the first of the year, fourth in her series I've enjoyed a lot. And I have a Brenda Minton recommendation on my LI list that I can't remember the title of just now. I don't often find contemp ones they have even more potential complications than the historic ones, lol.

    3. Wow, I just checked and I haven't read anything by Stephanie Dees! Putting her on my list! And I've read a few by Brenda Minton but not enough. Will have to do some catching up for sure.

  6. I've become a fan of Arlene James ever since I won a copy of Yuletide Cowboys back in 2015. When Arlene sent me the book, she was so sweet and also included a copy of one of her indie published books from her Hobby Run Series. So fun! She has since re-published them, but they need some reader love since there are only 1-2 reviews each. Although, I'm sorry to say they are no longer available in paperback, Kav. 😟 I normally try to keep up on James' new releases, but I hadn't seen this upcoming release yet. Looking forward to it as always.
