A Sensible Arrangement

GIVEAWAY

PETERSON, TRACIE
A SENSIBLE ARRANGEMENT

Marty Dandridge Olson is ready to leave behind the pain of the past.Answering an advertisement for a "Lone Star bride," she leaves her Texas ranch and heads to Denver to marry a man she doesn't know.

Jake Wythe is the man waiting for her.Burned by love, he marries now simply to satisfy the board of Morgan Bank, which believes a man of his standing in society should be wed. Together Jake and Marty agree they are done with romance and love and will make this nothing more than a marriage of convenience.

When missing money and a collapsing economy threaten his job, Jake's yearning to return to ranching grows ever stronger, much to Marty's dismay. But a fondness has grown between them, as well, further complicating matters.

What will happen when their relationship shifts in unexpected ways...
and dreams and secrets collide?

My Review:

Congratulations to the author on her 100th book!!!!! What a milestone!

A Sensible Arrangement is a mail-order bride story with a twist -- instead of the bride headed for a homestead or a ranch in a remote area, Marty arrives in Denver to wed a wealthy banker. (And my goodness, does she know how to make an entrance!) Trouble is, Marty has been raised on a ranch and is no stranger to hard work. She discovers that living in the lap of luxury is even tougher than the endless chores she left behind. I really enjoyed watching Marty trying to navigate Denver's 'elite' society. The ladies in particular put on way too many airs and I was cheering Marty on (goading her really) when she finally took a stand.

A host of secondary characters enriched the plot. Loved Alice in particular and hope that her storyline is continued in the next book. This is the first in the Lonestar Brides series and it looks to be a continuous series as there were several key plot threads left unresolved which I found a bit frustrating because I'm full of questions and suspicions and theories. Guess I'll just have to suffer through until Book Two hits the shelves in June. Thankfully that's not long to wait.
