Love's Promises

GIVEAWAY

LEESMITH, SANDRA
LOVE'S PROMISES

For Monica Scott, building her late father’s house at Lake Tahoe isn’t an option—it’s a necessary distraction from confusing memories and an uncertain future. But a handsome planner working for the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) is keeping Monica from moving forward with the project. Never mind that he’s young and charming with a great sense of humor. No one is going to stop Monica from making her father’s dream—and her own—a reality.

All Greg Linsey wants is for his work to mean something. His job at TRPA gives him the opportunity to fight for the environment he loves and make a difference in his small corner of the world. But with the sophisticated Monica Scott’s arrival, his dedication is tested as never before, especially when Monica turns to his unscrupulous nemesis for assistance.

As Greg and Monica’s animosity turns into something far sweeter, can they learn to accept each other’s promises and avoid the growing danger to their lives and hearts?

My Review:

A gripping read that will leave you with lots to ponder. I think Monica's journey affected me the most. She had such a need to be in control and that closed her off from so much, including environmentalist hero, Greg. They're on shaky ground from day one, but Greg wins her over be degrees through the course of the book.

It's Monica's growth arc that made the book for me. She is so tight and contained and...wary when we first meet her. Harbouring a multitude of misconceptions that dictate a lot of her thoughts and actions. She thinks the only way to protect herself  is to maintain control at any cost. Learning to trust people, being able to admit she needs help from time to time was such a painful process for her. But so rewarding in the end.

I loved the environmental aspects in this book, as it's a topic I'm quite passionate about as well. Leesmith does a wonderful job of conveying reverence for God's creation. Rich descriptive text and the solid background research enhanced my read.

Combine all that with a dastardly villain and a twisty plot and you've got an amazing story you won't want to miss.

    2. Now I'm curious about the term Boos Mum. I have a feral cat we named Boo because he is black and was born around Halloween. Is Boo a pet's name for you also?

And I love a stack of books around me also. Love, love, love it.

    3. Actually it is the nickname one of my sons gave the baby son. He would always say Boo! an abbreviated peek a boo game. Someone asked him what his name was when he was about two and he said Boo! We have called him that ever since. His name is actually Noah.
