January Giveaway - Week Four

Before we move on to this week's winners I just wanted to let you know I'm adding a new feature to the blog starting next week thanks to all the great book recommendations y'all gave me during Reader's Choice Week. So keep an eye out for retro Saturdays -- the day I'll be reviewing books from years past. The thing about Retro Saturdays is that it will be totally random depending on my reading time and personal whims.  :-) In other words I won't necessarily post a retro review every Saturday. And if I do, it won't necessarily also be a giveaway. Sounds confusing? LOL. Not really. Just remember to stop by on Saturdays and check it out. If the book reviewed is also being offered as a giveaway you'll see the familiar colour book graphic with the caption 'giveaway' underneath. Because of the randomness of Retro Saturdays, I won't post them in the next week giveaway preview graphic. It'll be just a random surprise...so stay tuned.

As always, I will contact the winners by email however thanks to the nefarious ways of the Internet my email might land in your spam folder so keep your eyes peeled! :-) If you haven't heard from me by Monday evening please email me your snail mail address at kavluvstoreadATyahooDOTca From time to time winners and I don't seem to connect, so I have a month time frame. If I can't reach you within four weeks your win will be forfeited.

LOOKING AHEAD TO NEXT WEEK'S GIVEAWAYS:

  1. I am so looking forward to the new feature! There are still so many great books out there that lots of us have yet to discover. :)
Congratulations to all the winners, and thank you for myself. I can't wait to read "Take a Chance on Me." Okay...I've got the band ABBA in my head now. :) Happy Sunday!

    1. Kelly, I try to focus on new releases on my blog as a way to support authors and publishers. However, I can't read fast enough to stay completely current and my backlist TBR list is only going to get longer if I don't do something about it. Out of the five giveaway books coming up, three of them are retro (though one was just published in 2014). I need to get cracking on the 2015 books so Retro Saturdays will hopefully help me find a balance.

  2. Congrats to all the winners! :) I am such a dum dum, Kav. Brentwood's Ward was on sale for Kindle and I figured if I didn't win it here I would just go back to Amazon and get if for $3 and some change. I went back to Amazon and it is back up to $9.99. (ughhhh) A totally blonde moment for me. :(

Looking forward to Retro Saturdays!. Sounds fun!

    1. Oh Noooooooooooo!!!!!!! I'm surpised it was on $3.00 when it's such a new release. What are publishers thinking?! We want authors to make money so they keep writing!!!! Hope you get it somehow. It's a great read.

    2. They sometimes even have new books for Kindle FREE! I don't get that either, but Caryl McAdoo's brand spankin' new release was recently free for a few days on Kindle, so I nabbed it. I think maybe the publishers' idea is to get some reviews right away and get the book "out" there, but I'm not really sure. I'm a member of NetGalley and I'm caught up on my reviews for them. Hmmm...wonder if BW is on NG? Running on over. lol

    3. It was there!!! Now to have them approve my request, which they may not if they have enough reviews. Wish me luck! ;)

    4. I used Net Galley last summer. I didn't know how it worked and blithely clicked a bazillion books I wanted to read thinking that some of them wouldn't be accepted. Of course most of them were and I ended up laptop reading most of the summer. Oy.

I still think it's not a marketing savvy move to offer a brand new book for free. Better to build a 'street team' before hand for advanced reviews.

    5. I send the NGs to my Kindle as I can't read books on a PC. I'll get a bad headache. But yep, you have to be careful over there bc it is tempting and one can get in over one's head. lol I learned that the hard way, and now only request what I am going to have time to read and review.

I agree with you about offering the books for free. I don't know exactly why they do that.
