Duty Bound Guardian

GIVEAWAY

REED, TERRI
DUTY BOUND GUARDIAN

Framed

When a priceless artifact is stolen, museum curator Lana Gomez becomes the prime suspect. How can she hope to adopt her orphaned nephew if she's a person of interest in a crime? Cooperating with Capitol K-9 Unit officer Adam Donovan doesn't get her very far—the handsome cop thinks she's hiding something. But when the real thief returns set on silencing Lana, it is Adam and his Doberman pinscher, Ace, who become her only defense against a madman who wants nothing more than to see Lana eliminated.

Capitol K-9 Unit: These lawmen solve the toughest cases with the help of their brave canine partners.

My Review:

The second in the Captiol K-9 Unit continuity series and I loved this as much as I did the first. No worries, though, Duty Bound Guardian reads well as a standalone and the author does a fantastic job of catching new readers up on the over arcing case details. There's one part of the suspense that isn't going to be solved until Book Six.

Once again, it's the dog that stole my heart. Ace, the Doberman is not only a stellar police partner, he also oozes plenty of canine empathy. In fact, I'm not sure if the title refers to the dog or the police officer. LOL. Okay, I guess Adam has his own charm as well which includes going into hyper-sensitive protective mode on more than one occasion. Be still my heart. Definite hero material even though he harbors suspicions about Lana. That's part Lana's 'fault' in that she's learned to hide behind a mask of composure so she isn't easy to read. Thankfully, Adam is a quick study (especially with the promptings of Ace.) The simmering romance complicates a gnarly plot fraught with danger and deception. An all round 'ace' of a read. :-)

    1. My friend had a Doberman. Loyal dog -- very protective of her, but so goofy and silly as well. Good luck, Melissa.

    1. I agree, Merry. And come to think of it, I don't remember reading a book with a museum setting in a long time, if ever. Great setting for a suspense. Good luck.

  9. Hi Kav. I have always been scared of Dobermans. In WY. In Jackson, Wy. ran a service station. He had 2 or 3 Dobermans that he put in the Office at night. Had a big sign on the windows saying All sssssurvivors will be prosecuted. And, you could see the big dogs. Never had a break-in. His daughter was a friend to my little girl and I didn't like her to go ply with that girl for the dogs were chained and was afraaid they might attack my baby. And, there was one across the street from our church, and a street that I walked when going home from High School. The way he would run out and give hiis big bark, I believe people could hear my knees knocking. Would love my name in to win this book.

    1. LOL -- oh, Maxie, those are what Doberman experiences. From my understanding, they make great guard dogs but they are pussy cats with their humans. You need to meet Ace to see the softer side of the breed. :-) Good luck.
