BRIDE BY ARRANGEMENT

Mail-order matchmaking

Newly minted Cowboy Creek sheriff Noah Burgess doesn't want a wife -- despite his friends insisting that he needs one. So when they send for a big-city single mother to be his mail-order bride, he's fit to be tied. Even if vivacious Grace Longstreet might just be the only person who can see past Noah's scars...and help him heal.

Grace needs a husband to keep her and her twin daughters out of her brother-in-law's grasp. And she'll do -- including taking on her cousin's identity -- to find one. But as the attraction between Grace and the lawman sparks higher, she begins hoping for a real marriage. So she needs to tell the truth...or a mail-order match that's meant to be could crumble.

My Review:

This is the third book in the Cowboy Creek continuity series. I haven't read the first two and had no problem picking up the story in this one. Fans of the series will be happy to become reacquainted with the heroes and heroines as well as some reoccurring secondary characters from the other books. There's a host of eligible bachelors in this town so I'm hoping there are more books in the series. However, I searched high and low and couldn't find that information so if anyone knows I'd love it if you could share the information. I'm eager to keep up (as well as catch up) with these stories.

It's no secret that I adore a disgruntled hero and Noah is more disgruntled than most. Insert swoon here. I just loved the way Grace's little girls had him wrapped around their little fingers. And if he's truly honest with himself so does their mother. But he's stubborn and proud (hence disgruntled) so he puts up quite the fight. But, oh my, every time he drawled "City girl" my tummy went all a flutter. Every. Single. Time.

Grace knows that building a relationship based on deception is doomed to failure. She's wary and scared and  feeling mighty guilty as the days wear on and they all become entrenched in her lies.  Add a surprising suspense thread with action and danger to all that romantical angst and you end up with riveting read.

  2. I've read the other two books in this series, so I have this one on my TBR list and am happy for the giveaway opportunity here. You absolutely MUST at least track down Sherri Shackelford's Special Delivery Baby, 2nd in this series. It was so good and just hilarious, one of my favorite reads this year and that's saying a lot as I've read some amazing books already this year. Trust me on this one ;)

    1. I love the cover of Special Delivery Baby -- very appealing. And I kind of thought it might be funny based on the interactions and inferences in this one. Will definitely order it and the first one. Just can't figure out why more aren't listed. Continuity series are usually six...but this one looks like it might be only three. Anyway -- good luck, Tracey.

  7. The book I'm currently reading has a woman in it who has lied about her true identity and now that she has fallen in love and told the truth, things aren't going so well. I hope Grace has a better chance. Would love to win this book and find out. Thanks for the giveaway and good luck everyone.

    1. It's such a conundrum, isn't it? As the reader, we're inside the heroine's head so we understand why she's being deceptive but it always takes the hero a bit longer to clue in and accept. LOL Where would we be without that angst? Good luck, Debbie.

  11. I want to read this series for the sole reason that I loved Sherri Shackelford's Christmas LI book and can't wait to read her book within this series. I'm currently waiting for Want-Ad Wedding from the library. I have to read them in order, ya know?! :) No entry in this one, Kav.

    1. Yes -- I get the wanting to read in order. I actually picked this book without realizing it was part of a continuity series but they do a good job of creating them so you can jump in and start reading with any book. Mind you there's some suspense stuff that is carry over from the first two books. Happy reading, Terrill.
