Falling for the Single Dad

GIVEAWAY

CARTER, LISA
FALLING FOR THE SINGLE DAD

Finding her way home...

After fifteen years away, Dr. Caroline Duer is nervous about returning to her hometown. The veterinarian might be able to save stranded sea turtles, but she can't convince her dad of her good intentions. And when Caroline meets darling Izzie Clark, she encounters similar suspicion from the young girl's father. Former coast guard commander Weston Clark had his life upended by Izzie's mother. He won't go through the same pain again. But Izzie isn't the only one tumbling head over heels for the enigmatic Caroline. And if she can release the pain of the past, she just might be the missing piece Weston and his daughter have been searching for.

My Review:

This is the third book in Lisa Carter's Coast Guard series. You don't need to read the first two in order to enjoy this one, but I've loved all three books and can highly recommend them. The prodigal Duer girl is home at last and her reappearance in Kiptohanock isn't all smooth sailing! I love this complicated family and that includes crusty patriarch, Seth Duer even though I wanted to smack some sense into him early on. :-)

Carter excels at delivering realistic family drama with enough gentle humour to mute some of the angst.  Izzie shines as both comic relief and the poignant reminder of how much a little girl needs a mother. But falling in love is a complicated business for Weston and Caroline. They are both overcomers with painful histories that make it difficult to be open to romance. The author left me dangling on emotional tenterhooks more than a time or two through the course of the read. And ever an animal lover, I found the sea turtle angle totally fascinating. An engrossing contemporary romance that might just require a tissue or two.

  8. After getting Coast Guard Sweetheart, I looked for additional contemporary romances penned by Lisa Carter and purchased Aloha Rose. I just read your review for that book, as well and it makes me want to keep attacking her back list. Although I don't read romantic suspense as often, I'm excited to hers. Thanks, Kav. tlhcoupon(at)hotmail(dot)com
