Becoming Bea

GIVEAWAY

GOULD, LESLIE
BECOMING BEA

Can Bea and Ben Turn Rivalry Into Romance? Beatrice Zook knows God wants her to learn patience toward others. When assisting a family overwhelmed by triplets proves surprisingly successful, her confidence in dealing with others, both young and old, grows.

One person she'll never be able to find peace with though is Ben Rupp. They've known each other forever, and Ben understands precisely how to antagonize her. What neither she nor Ben will admit is that beneath all their bickering, attraction awaits. When friends decide to try and bring the couple together, will the pair be able to find true love? Or will they damage their relationship beyond repair?

My Review:

Another great story in Gould's Shakespeare inspired series. This time it's Much Ado About Nothing that gets the author's unique Amish twist and I loved it to pieces. Talk about madcap mayhem! Both comedy and drama contribute to the confusion. Just reading about the day in and day out of triplet care was enough to want me to take to my bed for some much needed rest! I have never appreciated disposable diapers and an automatic washer and dryer more.

This is Bea's coming of age story. She's led a sheltered life under the shadow of her gregarious sister, Molly. It's time for Bea to get some backbone and make her own way. She starts out all prickly and judgemental (especially where Ben is concerned) but softens and matures as the story progresses.  It's not an easy process though and I was righteously indignant for her a number of times. And then the unthinkable happened and I was heartbroken. I didn't think Gould had enough pages left in the book to straighten it all out. Talk about a page-turning conclusion! A captivating story that still has me grinning (and groaning). Love it when characters stick around for a while and continue to keep me company after the read is over.

  1. Kav, great review as usual! Not being a fan of Amish fiction, but I am a great fan of Shakespeare, so clever a man! And when combining shakespearen motif with your review, I suddenly want to read it. “Some Cupid kills with arrows, some with traps" and some with reviews :)
