Dangerous Tidings

GIVEAWAY

MENTINK, DANA
DANGEROUS TIDINGS

Searching for the truth...

Coast Guard rescue swimmer Brent Mitchell wants only one gift for Christmas: to find his sister. When he discovers that her disappearance is tangled with the death of private eye Bruce Gallagher, he joins forces with Bruce's daughter Donna to investigate. Grieving Donna is as tough as the determined military man, and both will stop at nothing to find the truth. But the duo soon discovers that a murdered father and a missing sister merely top a looming pyramid of secrets on Coronado Island. Deadly secrets. These unlikely partners have vowed to stick together until their most important case is closed, but they may pay with their lives.

My Review:

A captivating suspense that kept me guessing right to the end. Incredibly well paced, Mentink delivers tantalizing clues that don't quite come together...or do they? I was making reckless accusations by the end -- pretty sure every character mentioned and a host of others were all villains. LOL

Raw emotions sharpen the developing romance. Donna is grieving the loss of her father. Brent is worried about his sister's disappearance. Thrown together to solve the mystery, they are drawn together on an almost elemental level. There's some great faith discussions and a lot of pain-riddled angst to work through though and that, along with the aforementioned stunning suspense, made for one page-turner of a read.

  5. Recently joining her "preferred reviewer" team, I've read this one and came up with the same conclusions you did! She kept me guessing right up to the end. Layered underneath is the heartache of the first Christmas without her dad and the thought of not having his sister. More than once, my heart went out to both Donna and Brent. By the end of this book, I shed a tear or two, it was that emotional of a thrill ride. There is so much depth to this story & I love the spiritual underlying as well. I'm looking forward to her next installment of the Pacific Coast Private Eyes series! Glad we have the same taste in our suspense novels, Kav!

    1. Yes! I loved the set up she did for the series. I'm guess is that each sister is going to get her story. Really looking forward to that.

Wondering if FB has left some off cause I have been off too much. I would love to win this book. Maxie > mac262(at)me(dot)com <

  12. I have only recently discovered Dana Mentink, but have yet to read any of her books. I guess that's par for the course when I have only been reading LI books in the past year. I would have to do some serious reading. I have been so curious, Kav, about how you manage reading all the books that you do. And I read a lot! My problem is that I have such diverse and eclectic reading tastes that cross many genres. It's hard to read everything that I want to. It would be easy if I only like Christian romance. Although that takes up a majority. haha

    1. Well, I restrict myself to Christian Fiction (with very few exceptions) and I'm home on a disability leave so that does leave me a lot of time to read. Plus I live alone so I'm not taking care of a family or expected to provide intelligent conversation at the dinner table. LOL So all the free time adds up. Mind you -- there are tons of books released this year that I haven't read yet so I always feel behind. LOL Good luck, Terrill. I think you'll enjoy Dana's storytelling talent.
