Crime and Poetry

GIVEAWAY

FLOWER, AMANDA
CRIME AND POETRY

Rushing home to sit by her ailing grandmother's bedside, Violet Waverly is shocked to find Grandma Daisy the picture of perfect health. Violet doesn't need to read between the lines. Her grandma wants Violet  back home and working in her magical store, Charming Books. It's where the perfect book tends to fly off the and pick you...

Violet has every intention of hightailing it back to Chicago, but then a dead man is discovered clutching a volume of Emily Dickinson's poems from Grandma Daisy's shop. The victim is Benedict Raisin, who recently put Grandma Daisy in his will, making her a prime suspect. Now, with the help of a tuxedo cat named Emerson, Violet will have to find a killer to keep Grandma from getting booked for good...

My Review:

I do believe Amanda Flower could be called the queen of cozy mysteries and I am so excited about this new series!!! A bookstore with 'tude, an opinionated cat, a talking crow and a mystery to be solved! Does it get any better than that?  Love the town and its eclectic citizens and the history Violet has with them all. Not to mention the Native American police chief. His gentle concern is lost on bulldozer Violet when it comes to mystery solving. David foolishly thinks the detective work should be left to the professional. Poor guy better get used to feeling exasperated at every turn...at least for a few more books because my spidey senses are telling me romance is afoot. A tricky mystery kept me stymied for most of the read. I pretty much suspected everyone by the end! Poor Violet wouldn't have a single friend if she listened to me. I laughed and cringed and gasped out loud. Woot! An amazing debut to the Magical Bookshop Mystery series.

Please note: This isn't a Christian fiction selection. It is a clean read though and a stupendous one!

  2. Hi Kav! I've been looking for a new cozy mystery series to read. This one sounds like fun! The one I've been reading for years is Joanne Fluke's Hannah Swenson series. I think I'm on Book#19. Thank you for offering a copy of this book from Amanda Flower's new series.

    1. I've read some of those Hannah Swenson books...weren't they made into movies for TV? Wow, #19 -- wonder what they do with the romance in a series that long? I would not be a patient reader. LOL I think you'll really love this new series by Amanda Flower. Anyone who loves books and mysteries would, I think. Good luck, Kay.

    2. Yes, Hallmark has made some movies based on Hannah Swenson Murder Mysteries, but you know how that is...the movies are good, but so much of a different feel than the books. Yeah, the romance is pretty bland, but I enjoy the town and the characters.
