PLAIN TRUTH

Amish country secrets

When widowed doctor Ella Jacobsen is attacked and left for dead in her children's clinic, the peace she's found in Geogria's Amish country is shattered. Someone is after something in her clinic and wants her out of the way...but what are they looking for? Ella knows only that her life is in the hands of army special agent Zach Swain. Zach can't resist the vulnerable but headstrong Ella, who stares down danger to care for the people she loves. With one look, the loner soldier goes from investigator to protector. To save Ella, he must uncover the secrets that swirl around the idyllic community. And he needs to do it fast, because Ella is running out of time.

Military Investigations: serving their country and solving crimes

My Review:

I do so love a suspense that starts with a crash of ominous thunder. It puts me in the shiveries and I know I can settle in for some hair-raising scenes -- like the opening one in Plain Truth. Nail-biting! And the stellar suspense kept me on my toes right to the very end. And there's as much tension in the romance as there is in the suspense. The kind that kept me glued to the page and my poor garden languishing for an entire afternoon.  The way the author weaves it all together -- including some fascinating Amish elements -- is pure reader bliss!

  2. This sounds like the perfect read for me as we are entering thunderstorm season in SC. Actually October is hurricane season, but we won't talk about them. Nothing like starting out a book with a thunderstorm while you're having one! Double shiveries. I love books about lady Drs and the Amish, too! I HAVE to read this one!!

  11. Oh, Amish mystery, suspense and a little romance too. Sounds like a perfect trifecta for a book! I might be in the minority but I actually like a good thunderstorm as long as it doesn't turn into something worse. Glad you enjoyed this nail biting book Kav!

    1. There's something thrilling about a thunderstorm, isn't there? When I was young and foolish and I used to take long walks in them. LOL Good luck, Maryann.
