All of You

GIVEAWAY
MONZON, SARAH
ALL OF YOU

Sometimes the past reaches forward to bring hope to the future

Maryland Present Day

Jacqueline Rogers can rebuild anything...except the shambles of her past. A restorer of vintage planes, she's worked hard to earn the reputation of being one of the guys. The last thing she needs is a former Navy pilot fighting his won inner demons stepping in to defend her from dangers she thought she'd outrun long ago. Some battles must be fought alone.

After a freak accident severs Lieutenant Michael "Finch" Carrington's dreams, as well as two limbs, he's left with nothing but a fragile faith and a duty-bound promise to watch out for his friend's baby sister. A promise she insists is as unnecessary as it is unappreciated. But when she turns the tables and begins to weld together the broken parts of his life, it may be his heart that is in need of protection.

England 1942

With the world at war yet again, Alice Galloway rejects her father's traditional expectations and offers her piloting expertise to the Air Transport Auxiliary. She may be a woman in a man's world, but when she overhears key intelligence, she must find the strength to transcend boundaries and her own fears. Or countless people may die.

My Review:

Dual Timeline = Double swoon worthy heroes. Prepare to lose your heart in a big way between brooding present day hero Michael and flirtatious, seize-the-moment war hero Henry. My heart palpitations are having palpitations! And the great thing about the dual timeline is that it isn't clear from the onset how the two stories relate...at least it wasn't for me. So it was really fun putting the pieces together.

Present Day -- The Carrington family!!! I love the way they relate to one another. Smart-mouthed rough-and-tumble meshed with get-to-the-heart-of-the-matter discussions provides a whole lot of laughter along with a few tears. Love this larger than life family! And Michael does too -- even though they can get on his nerves especially as he recuperates from his accident.

This tough as nails Navy pilot is used to being in charge and then the accident happens. He struggles and not just physically -- but emotionally too. What I admire about him the most is that his faith in God doesn't waver. Oh, there's anger and frustration and questions galore but he never doubts God's existence. That doesn't mean he always seeks His guidance or listens if he does which makes him all the more relatable because I'm exactly the same way.

Jack (not Jacqueline) was raised in an all male household and thrives in her male-dominated profession. She can take care of herself, thank you very much so she is some miffed when her brother drags Michael into the biggest mess of her life. She doesn't need a bodyguard or a keeper -- especially the hunky hero type with the ability to completely distract her just by walking into a room.

Prepare for lots of sparks and sizzling fireworks. In fact break out your fans and crank down your air conditioning. Sticking your head in the freezer might become a necessity as these two would-be-lovers find their way to a happily ever after. Blissful sigh.

World War II timeline -- Two adventurous souls on a mission to make a difference. Tons of fascinating historical details -- like female pilots!!!! Alice is a force to be reckoned with. Whether she's dealing with male prejudice or dodging the amorous advances of a certain British bloke, she's unrelenting in her quest to serve and serve well. Even when Henry sweeps her off her feet (quite literally!) she stays true to her dedication. And the way the two stories are knit together is brilliant. Makes for a blockbuster ending. In fact, All of You is the kind of all-consuming story that would translate really well onto the silver screen. It's that vivid and intense and heart-stopping.

My thanks to the author for providing me with a copy of this book

  1. I won this recently so I'm not entering. I haven't read too many dual timeline books (or maybe any come to think of it) so it will be a different kind of story for me. I just hope I don't get confused!

    Thanks for the review, Kav.

  4. I am SO smiling at your review! I'm glad I was a "corrupting influence" and got you to take a sneak peak at that first page, haha! I knew that would be all it took.
We are in full agreement about this book! It would make a great movie! I just love Sarah Monzon. She'll be writing the other 2 Carringinton sibs stories later, but next up she's working on The Esther Paridigm, so intriguing, she's an expert at the dual time line.
I finally got The Two of Us I've been waiting on, so that's my reading for today, after attending a funeral, I'll need to escape to my happy place.

  11. I haven't read this author yet, but I do have this book. Just finished a dual timeline that was so good I can't stop thinking about it. I'll be moving All of You to the top of TBR pile. Thanks for the review!

    1. Yes, definitely move it up! And do you mind telling us what dual timeline book you just finished reading? I've really enjoyed the ones I have read but they are not all that common so I'm anxious to see if it's one I've read or not.

    2. Kav-I don't know what book Pam just finished, but The Writing Desk by Rachel Hauck is dual timeline and one of the best books I've read this year. I read it 5 months ago and I'm still thinking about it. If it's not on your radar yet, you must move it to your tbr pile. I'm pretty sure you will love it!

    3. Yeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! It was on my radar but not on my dual timeline radar -- putting it waaaaaay up at the top of my wishlist now. I remember you saying how much you loved it. Argh -- so many books, so little time.

    4. I know, what wonderful reader problems we have, don't we? I have the hardest time picking what I'm going to read. I have a list of automatic must read authors, but I have to leave room for the unexpected new finds. I don't read as many as you do a yr, around 10 a month so I'm very selective, but a do love a surprise find, keeps reading exciting!
