Inherited: Unexpected Family

GIVEAWAY
MEYER, GABRIELLE
INHERITED: UNEXPECTED FAMILY

An unexpected partnership

After arriving in Minnesota Territory with her sisters to claim their late father's hotel, Elizabeth Bell is shocked to learn her inheritance comes with a handsome co-owner. After too long working for a domineering boss, Elizabeth yearns to be in control -- of the hotel and her life. But Jude Allen won't sell his share, and Elizabeth refuses to leave.

Rescuing soiled doves and giving them hotel jobs is Jude's way of redeeming his past. He's counting on rough frontier life driving his new business partner away before she learns the scandalous and demands he stop his mission. But he may have underestimated Elizabeth...and the power of love to turn a complication into a bright new beginning.

Little Falls Legacy : Building a thriving community through love and faith

My Review:

I do so love a feisty heroine who is not afraid to make a stand. Love the way Elizabeth storms into Jude's life and turns it upside down. Sparks fly as these two sparring partners warily circle each other. With futures at stake neither are willing to give an inch...until they begin to work together and attraction spikes. Romance is out of the question (of course) but maybe a partnership isn't.

A bevy of captivating secondary characters make this read even more memorable. Pastor Ben is a favourite and I'm praying that Meyer has a special story in mind for him. Little Rose and fractious Grace provided plenty of angst and some sweetly tender moments as well. And hotel cook Martha, who mothers everyone and gently shares the gospel in both word and deed -- well everyone needs a Martha like that in their lives!

A multi-layered tale of faith and grace and happily ever afters.

  1. Have you read "A Family Arrangement"? It's the first in the Little Falls Legacy series by Gabrielle. And it's where I first fell in love with Ben. Be still my heart! I've been rooting for him to get his perfect lady for a long time :-) To which you'll get his story with the next one entitled "The Gift of Twins" in December. I'm on her early reader team so I have the inside scoop if you will!

This was one a delicious read, wasn't it?

  4. I've read a few Gabrielle Meyer books and she's an excellent writer. Your review talking about the feisty heroine makes me want to read it all the more.
What will LI historical readers do when the line gets shut down next year? There are so many good writers in this genre, I know some are switching to LI or LIS, but the historical line gave a good cross section for readers. But I digress..

I'd love to win this one, thanks for including me.

    1. I totally agree. I keep hoping they will reconsider their decision. Or that the authors will band together and create their own line via Amazon. Good luck, Tracey.

  8. Ooh, this book is going on my TBR list. I have to applaud the author's choice to write a feisty heroine who will give a hero a run for his money because that's what my husband loves best about me...or so he says! 😇 Thank you, Kav.

  15. This sounds wonderful. I haven't read one of Meyer's books yet, but I love that the secondary characters are somewhat prominent in the story. Author's have the chance to create a fuller story that way. It can be more challenging to do in the shorter length LI's without losing focus on the main characters. Thanks, Kav. tlhcoupon(at)hotmail(dot)com

    1. That's a great word for it -- fuller -- definitely more body to a story with intriguing secondary characters. This author does a great balancing act -- just enough to have you eagerly looking forward to more about a secondary character while delivering satisfaction over the main characters. Good luck, Terrill.

    2. This is why I enjoy many of Sherri Shackelford's books, with "The Rancher's Christmas Proposal" being my favorite of her's. I seek out books with that similar "fullness." I know you have read a few of her books, but if you have the chance to read this one at some point, I think you will love it.

    3. I know I haven't read all of Sherri's books so I'll definitely see what's still available in paperback. Thanks for the tip.
