Where Hope Begins

GIVEAWAY
WEST, CATHERINE
WHERE HOPE BEGINS

Sometimes we're allowed to glimpse the beauty from within the brokenness...

Savannah Barrington has always found solace at her parent's' lake house in the Berkshires, and it's the place that she runs to when her husband of over twenty years leaves her. Though her world is shaken, and the future uncertain, she finds hope through an old woman's wisdom, a little girl's laughter, and a man who's willing to risk his own heart to prove to Savannah that she is worthy of love.

But soon Savannah is given a challenge she can't run away from: forgiving the unforgivable. Amidst the ancient gardens and musty bookstores of the small town she's sought refuge in, she must reconcile with the grief that haunts her, the God pursuing her, and the wounds of the past that might be healed after all.

Where Hope Begins is the story of grace in the midst of brokenness, pointing us to the miracles that await when we look beyond our own expectations.

My Review:

Hard hitting. Emotion stirring. Heaving sob inducing. I don't even know how to review Where Hope Begins. Tough read. I mean I really didn't want to read this book only I couldn't stop reading it either. Serious subject matters -- adultery, death, grief -- doesn't that sound like fun? But there is so much hope within the pages of this book as well! The goose-bumping, deep-rooting kind that takes your breath away.

And though that makes this book seem like a heavy read, there is an ethereal beauty in the way the story unfolds that lifts all the harsh reality into something quite magical. I sat in stunned silence when I reached the end  -- and y'all know me, when am I ever quiet when it comes to books?! So, be prepared to be amazed...and moved...and changed. Simply stunning!

  7. I agree this is a stunning book. Having also been left by a husband, there were times I could really empathize with Savannah. Catherine West writes about difficult subjects in a very sensitive, realistic way.

  8. Love a book that makes you think, makes you feel - both good and bad, and a book that has you dreading what's going to happen next but at the same time has you rushing to read the next page. "WHERE HOPE BEGINS" sounds very much like such a book. I'd love the opportunity to read it. Thanks for your review, bringing this book to my attention and the chance to win a copy.
