A Cowboy in Shepherd's Crossing

GIVEAWAY
HERNE, RUTH LOGAN
A COWBOY IN SHEPHERD'S CROSSING

From bachelor to daddy...Shepherd's Crossing is full of surprises.

Cowboy bachelor Jace Middleton was ready to leave Shepherd's Crossing for good -- until he learns his family's unspoken secrets. Now Jace finds himself not only caring for his twin baby nieces, but working with beautiful, strong-willed designer Melonie Fitzgerald to renovate his grandmother's run-down estate. Love wasn't part of the plan...but Jace soon finds himself wishing Melonie could become part of is unexpected family.

My Review:

"If we need extra lumber we could always get it from that full-size chip on your shoulder." (p 89)

And that right there is why I love Ruth Logan Herne's novels -- heroines with a healthy dose of snark the way only Ruthy can write 'em. But though Melonie can hold her own in a difference of opinion and isn't shy about calling a spade a spade, she also has a soft heart and sweet faith to buffer some of those rough edges.

Jace can't help but admire her southern belle spunk even though it comes at a time when his world is turned completely upside down. A single guy who suddenly has his concept of family challenged, he's in no position to leap into a relationship. Love the sparring and banter that flows through Jace and Melonie's story. And the matter-of-fact faith talk peppered throughout.

"My parents didn't believe in worrying. They believed God would provide. And that the rough roads of life build character." ( p 77)

This is the second book in Herne's Shepherd's Crossing series and while it can be read as a standalone, I think you'll get more out of it if you read Her Cowboy Reunion first. The author does a magnificent job of setting up the background for this series in that book plus Lizzie and Heath have lots of page time in this one which kept a perpetual grin on my face the whole read long!

A family-centric romance -- full of heart and faith and the hope of second chances.

My thanks to the author for gifting me with a copy of this book.

  4. I just finished my book "inventory". A page for new in 2019 already has 29 books on it! My books I "hope" to get to this year has 55 books on it. I read about 120 yearly, so that only leaves about 36 choices left! I am going to have to be very discriminating from here on in if my plan is going to work. But I DO love having a plan, I feel better already, less pressure, lol.

    1. Oh no --- being very discriminating about books is just not right. You need to practice reader irresponsibility, Tracey! I volunteer to be your evil influence. :-)

Anyway, Lol Kav, influence away! Usually it's me, your intrepid reporter, being the bad influence. I'm really a bad influence on myself, I've already added THREE books! Oh well, my list are fluid and subject to change ;)
