Miss Harriet Peabody dreams of the day she can open up a shop selling refashioned gowns to independent working women like herself. Unfortunately, when an errand for her millinery shop job goes sadly awry due to a difficult customer, she she finds herself without an income.
Mr. Oliver Addleshaw is on the verge of his biggest business deal yet when he learns his potential partner prefers to deal with men who have settled down and wed. Harriet quickly finds her love of fashion can't make her fashionable. She'll never truly fit into Oliver's world, with it's fancy dinners and elegant balls, but just as she's ready to call off the fake relationship a threat from her past forces both Oliver and Harriet to discover that love can come in the most surprising packages.
My Review:
published in 2015
My thanks to my public library for providing me with a copy of this retro read.
Chortle. Snort. Guffaw. I've been reading the A Class of Their Own series backwards and I've finally made it to book one which is just as crazy and hilarious as books 2 and 3! Jen Turano writes with such comedic flair that my cheeks hurt from grinning so much by the time I reach the last page! She excels at throwing -- no -- hurling -- her characters headlong into the most absurd chaos. I can almost hear her maniacal laughter as she plots her riotous mayhem...or maybe that's the echo of my own crazed mirth. If you're a fan of romantic comedy and you haven't given Jen Turano a try -- well, it's about time yo did! And if you are a fan of this author but you missed this book (like moi) here's your chance to make that right! :-)

Can you believe I have signed copies of this series I won and haven't gotten to them yet?!
ReplyDeleteI have them on my "I must" list now. Am I the only one with books they really want to read staring at them from the bookshelves?
I love romantic comedy and could use some
laughs with all the dreary cold weather.
Happy reading monday!
Eeeep!!!! i Kinda can't believe that, Tracey. lol But since I don't read ebooks, I miss all the kindles sales and since I don't live in the states I don't have many opportunities to get books for review so that makes my TBR pile quite manageable. Right now I have nine books on my pile -- that's two weeks worth of reading material. If I have so many books that I have more than a month's worth to read I start to get antsy. lol Ah well, at least you can be assured that you won't run out of reading material if the weather continues to be dreary!
DeleteI have the same problem, Tracey. So many wonderful books, so very little time.
DeleteYes, I have lots of books taunting me from my bookshelves, Tracey! There are so many amazing new ones coming out that I can't keep up with them all.
DeleteYes, Kav. I need to make it right and read ALL of Jen Turano’s books... and I’ll likely be going backwards too. Love how she can make me laugh!

ReplyDeleteYes -- her covers manage to convey the playfulness in her books. Good luck, Kim.
DeleteOh mercy, I will NEVER run out of reading material! I have have hundreds, (not saying how many hundreds lest you faint) unread on my kindle (in my defense I have read at least 400+ or more on there) and another 200+ paperback/hardback waiting in the wings! Please don't hyperventilate Kav 😉 or at least send me your emergency number so I can call for help 😂 when you find so many good deals on kindle, have good bookstore deals and have generous bloggers, well you can see my see my seriously good dilemma 😍 and I am still buying...because new releases don't stop and let you catch up 🏃 and as much as you tried to dissuade me from my organized reading plan on favor of ✈ by the seat of my 👖, lol, I love having marked off with my highlighter 6 books on that list, so on to book 7!
ReplyDeleteSigh, please disregard all my typos and double words. I'm on my kindle and it's autocorrect thinks it's the boss of me and knows better 😆
DeleteGasp -- reaching for my hyperventilating bag, taking deep breaths and...nope, still dizzy. Ha -- you're not officially a panster reader! Snort. I think I need to go down there where it's warmer and help you with those shelves of unread books...just sayin'!!!!!

You're welcome, Wendy. Good luck!
DeleteSounds like a wonderful read. Interesting to hear you don't read ebooks, as I only read nonfiction ebooks! All of the TBR stacks comfort and inspire me. I wish I was a faster reader. teshawATsbcglobalDOTnet

Ohhh -- that's her newest one right? And the start of a new series? It's on my list! Good luck, Winnie!
DeleteI am playing catch up and am smiling at some of the comments regarding huge stacks of books on Kindles or bookshelves. Just like being a quilter as, also, one has stacks of fabrics waiting for some future project. And I was already smiling from the description of Jen's book...love her wit and underlying spiritual themes. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOooohhh -- good comparison -- books and fabric -- two things we can never have enough of. Good luck, CC!
DeleteThanks for the giveaway!
