Shattered Trust

GIVEAWAY
PARKER, SARA K.
SHATTERED TRUST

Protecting her was his job. Failure wasn't an option.

After Natalie Harper was left at the altar, enjoying her honeymoon alone is the best way to cope -- until she's attacked on the beach. Luke Everett, the bodyguard secretly hired by her federal judge father, arrives just in time to rescue her. It'll take all his professional skills to keep Natalie safe. One wrong move and they could fall prey to the enemy's deadly scheme.

My Review:

A whiplash stunner! Loved the exotic locale where the mayhem starts -- makes it all the more shivery. And that opening scene -- my goosebumps had goosebumps. Luke and Natalie make a dynamic duo as they try to stay ahead of relentless attacks.

And, being truthful, I wasn't really keen on the idea of a romance coming hard on the heels of  a broken engagement. The idea of a bride left at the altar and then meeting someone else on a solo honeymoon didn't seem plausible so, (hangs head in shame)  Shattered Trust stayed in my TBR pile way too long. But guess what, people? I WAS WRONG!!!! And I promise to follow Parker wherever her creative mind wants to take me from now on. Natalie's backstory, her relationship with her ex, her attraction to Luke (along with her determination to do nothing about it) are all completely believable...and, more importantly, kept me immersed in the story. Brilliantly done (if a whole lot angsty!)

    1. Ooohhh -- an insider scoop!!! I am totally intrigued by Triss!!!!! So this must be a series but there's no indication on the cover. That drives me crazy!

    3. Seems like Love Inspired doesn't always indicate series books. I'm very OCD when it comes to reading books in order and it drives me wacko when I find I'm reading book number two of a three book series or something. Arrggg! 😋

    4. I wonder if they are worried that people won't buy the book if they see that it's part of a series? But LI fans know that books can be read out of order (unless you're Trixi lol) because they are all written as standalones. I like to see the series title on the cover because it's acts as a prompt for me to buy it. I can't buy and read every single LI and LIS book every month so I have to pick and choose each month and, without that series title trigger, I could overlook a series book without realizing it.

    5. Well, yes, I KNOW they are perfectly stand-alone and CAN be read out of order....that's the nice thing about Love Inspired books as opposed to some other series books. Sometimes with older LI books I can't find all of them, so I don't stress too much over it. I've found that the author does a nice job on giving the reader a bit of background so you don't feel you've missed anything.
