Christmas Danger
Christmas Threat
Christmas Danger -- Danger can lurk in the most innocent of places...Holly Miller is seeking a fresh start, but when she narrowly escapes a vicious attack days before Christmas, she's forced to face the truth -- someone is stalking her.
Police Chief Aiden James takes pride in protecting the citizens of his hometown. The attack on Holly bothers him in more ways than one, especially since the beautiful social worker has slipped past his defences and into his heart.
Can Aiden and Holly stop her stalker before it's too late or will this Christmas be her last?
Christmas Threat -- An unexpected threat...Faith Hicks has always wanted a huge family, but when her husband died two years ago, that dream failed. When she discovers a baby in her barn, and is subsequently attacked, she's thrust into a life-and-death situation.
Chase McKenzie is determined to protect Faith at all costs. His childhood friend has no idea he's in love with her and he has no intention of telling her. It's not worth risking their relationship. Especially since she's still grieving.
Can Chase and Faith find their way to lasting love or will this Christmas threat be too much for them to survive?
My Review:
Short and sweet but oh so very satisfying! And, woohoo, two romantic suspense stories set at Christmas that actually feature Christmas activities! (Not just a title nod and an epilogue ) which so many seem to be.
While there's no mention of a series, these two books (released one year apart) feature the same small town in Texas and the hero and heroine from Christmas Danger make cameo appearances in Christmas Threat. Still, they can be read independent of each other.
Christmas Danger starts out ominously with Holly all alone at night in a parking lot...or she thinks she is. Bwahahahaha! Cue the creepy music 'cause a thrilling stalkerish vibe fuels the angst in this fast paced novella.
Love that social worker Holly and Police Chief Aiden already have a working relationship and, truth be told, both harbor secret feelings for the other. Holly's situation throws them together pretty much 24/7 which allows ample time for those hidden feelings to spill into the light. And while Holly's over-the-top festive spirit might irk Aiden's Grinchy side, it isn't long before his heart grows three sizes for both the holidays and Holly!
Christmas Threat's opening lines sets the stage...and the creep factor..."The boot prints weren't supposed to be there." Of course Faith follows them and a heart-in-throat scenes ensues. Great pacing. The suspense is intense, but the author provides breathing space which creates the perfect opportunity for romance!
Let me introduce you to Chase, "He pushed boundaries and charmed naysayers with a flick of his dimple and an easy-going smile...He carried a bad-boy edge tempered only by age and some hard-earned wisdom." (p 16) Be still my heart! This is the 'friends to more' trope at its finest and my toes stayed curled all the read long!
Two compelling Christmas novellas that share the thrills of suspense and the warmth of love in a sweet holiday setting.
