MADE OF STEELE
She keeps her feelings to herself...
When Teagan Steele faces her hardest challenge since taking over her family's security company, she has to dig deep to figure out how one of their clients smuggled antiquities into this country, and what they did with them. And she has to clear Steele Guardians of any charges of collusion and wrongdoing.
But a bold undercover agent changes everything.
When she comes face-to-face with undercover ICE agent, Drew Collier, who is deep in the smuggling ring, she has to work hard to keep her emotions in check and herself professional at all times. Despite her best efforts, Teagan and Drew grow closer, but a new threat soon puts their budding relationship to the test and their lives in grave danger.
My Review:
Honestly, I don't know how Susan Sleeman manages to apply fresh twists to each romantic suspense novel she writes. The antiquity smuggling is interesting all on its own but then she throws in another angle and I was, like, whhhaaatttt?! Gobsmacked all the way through. :-)
And her meet-cutes are some of the best. This one had me alternately wincing and laughing. Love hot-headed Teagan and the way she contrasts with easy going Drew...until she starts getting under his skin. There's some great banter as well as soul-searching dialogue about faith that made these characters vibrant and memorable. Oh...and there's a bit of a fake relationship trope in here as well which was all kinds of fun!
Of course, all the sisters and cousins provide a side of comic relief and angst, just to stir things up even more. This is the fourth book in the Steele Guardians series but reads really well as a standalone. Fans of the author will thrill at some cameos from previous series as well (Nighthawk Security and Truth Seekers) which had me in full bibliophile fan-girling mode.
I listened to the audible edition narrated by Whitney Dykhouse. I've come to associate her voice with Susan Sleeman's books so I always get a real sense of homecoming the second I start to listening.
Goal Update: #1 Read more Indie authors, #6 Stay current with a series, #8 Play author catch-up

So many books! I'm so far behind on Sleeman's stories, I'll probably never catch up 😂 I do love the camaraderie between her characters though, whether they are family members or good friends!
