Twelve Days of Christmas

GIVEAWAY
MACOMBER, DEBBIE
TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS

Continuing a festive annual tradition, #1 New York Times bestselling author Debbie Macomber returns with a new holiday novel full of romance and cheer -- and the magical prospect of finding love in even the most guarded hearts.

Friendly and bubbly, Julia Padden likes nearly everyone, but her standoffish neighbor, Cain Maddox, presents a challenge. No matter how hard she tries to be nice, Cain rudely rebuffs her at every turn. But when Julia catches Cain stealing her newspaper, that's the last straw. She's going to break through Cain's Scrooge-like exterior the only way she knows how: by killing him with kindness.

To track her progress, Julia starts a blog called Twelve Days of Christmas. Her first attempts to humanize Cain are far from successful. Julia brings him homemade Christmas treats, and the disagreeable grinch won't even accept them. Meanwhile, Julia's blog becomes an online sensation. Julia continues to find ways to express kindness and, little by little, chips away at Cain's gruff facade to reveal the caring man underneath. Unbelievably, Julia feels herself falling for Cain -- and she suspects that he may be falling for her as well. But as the popular of her blog grows, Julia must decide if telling Cain the truth about having chronicled their relationship to the rest of the world is worth risking their chance at love.

My Review:

published in 2016

A scrumptious read that had me grinning from ear to ear for most of it. Romantic comedy at its best. Loved how Julia's bubbly Christmas spirit contrasts with Cain's natural grump. She's Cindy-Lou Who to his Grinch. Tiny Tim to his Scrooge. So funny and poignant with a lovely message about the powerful changes kindness can bring -- to the giver as well as the recipient. A feel good Christmas romance that will have you on your feet cheering by the end...and then promptly doubling over in laughter. Again.

    1. My favourite newish Christmas movie is Dashing Through the Snow and I just discovered it's based on a book by Debbie Macomber. She knows how to tell a great holiday story! I could easily see this one as a movie too. Good luck, Cindy.

  2. This book appeals to me because of the kindness angle. Kindness was my "one word" focus for the year, but I think I still have a lot to learn about putting it into practice and "killing them with kindness".
Ironically, I even bought myself The One Year Daily Acts of Kindness Devotional yesterday while out buying a few Christmas gifts at my Christian bookstore. It attracted me like a magnet! (I'm still a bit shocked Christmas is in 6 weeks, eek! must get busy!)
Please include me in the giveaway for The Twelve Days of Christmas.

    2. That's a great one-word. This story really gets the message through in a funny way because kindness starts out as something to prove for Julia but quickly transforms into something so much for. Really cute story. Good luck, Tracey.
