Reader's Choice -- Amish Fiction

GIVEAWAY

Spring has sprung! (at least in the climates south of me!) And that means publishers are getting ready to shower us with new releases! Everybody --- SQUEEEPP -- together. I am so excited!

So here's how this thing works: You recommend Christian Fiction with release dates in April, May or June 2019 (up to 3 a day) and you have a chance at winning one of your recommendations! BUT it's a little more complicated than that so be sure to read ALL the details before entering.

PLEASE NOTE: email entries are not eligible this week. :-(

IT'S AMISH FICTION GIVEAWAY DAY!

To be entered in the draw just leave a comment (or 3) below including the title(s) of the book(s) in the Amish Fiction genre you would like to win.

Amish Fiction

A full-length story or novella collection where the hero or heroine (or both) are Amish OR the story has significant Amish involvement with Amish secondary characters and Amish community. Can be historical or contemporary and cross genres such as YA, suspense, or dual timelines.

How does it work?

Easy peasy! Make recommendations in the comment section each day and if you win, you win the book you suggested.

BUT YOU GOTTA FOLLOW THE RULES!

Publication dates must be
April, May or June 2019
Each day is genre specific so
only submit books from that genre
Christian Fiction only please!
You can offer up to 3 suggestions a day
BUT
they need to be made in
three separate comments
(easier for me to tally)
No email entries this week
(too hard to keep track of
due to # of responses)
entrants must submit their own selections
(not piggyback on somebody else's logon)
Offer open to International Readers
I'm all about spreading the good news about
Christian Fiction all over the globe!!!

It's helpful if you include your email (using AT and DOT instead of @ and . to protect yourself from spammers) but you only need to add it to one comment (per day) If you choose not to include your email it is up to the winner to contact me with their mailing address.

Draw will be held and winner announced on
Saturday March 30 2019

  5. 3) On a Summer Tide by Suzanne Woods Fisher 4/30

Amazon has this on the Amish list, but I'm not sure about it, they may have put it their as that is what she usually writes. This seems to me like putting Becky Wade in the Mystery section, lol, but I'll take it if it works :)

    1. Ha -- I noticed that during the contemporary day but, alas, Suzanne Woods Fisher's book is just a contemporary -- no Amish involved -- so it doesn't count in this giveaway. At least the book blurb on Becky Wade's book does indicate a mystery so that might be right but Amazon definitely got it wrong with On a Summer Tide. So pick again. Tracey!

I'm thrilled with your first two choices -- had no idea they were on the horizon. Great authors both. Good luck!

    2. I couldn't find anything in the summary to indicate it either, typecasting I guess :)

new choice, I'm going to try-

Toxic Toffee by Amanda Flowers 6/25
I tried to read a cozy once but the one I tried didn't hold my interest. I know you love Amanda Flowers so I looked this up. I got hooked when I read the USA Today comment, "...Amanda Flowers may have just written the first Amish rom com."
I'm in for anything funny, sign me up :-)

  6. Hope it's a nice sunny morning in Canada like it is here, Kav! It's cold this morning, but the sun makes it bearable. Can't wait for April and more consistent spring-like weather! No Amish books on my wishlist ATM, but wondering if Ann's Shaker book counts here? If not, no problem.

The Refuge by Ann Gabhart (April 30)

    1. I looked up Ann's book, gorgeous cover! But in that summary I learned something, the Shakers were a celibate community, even among married members!? So I googled Shakers, as of 2017 their were only 2 left in the Maine Shaker Village, no wondering why there, lol. Still a fascinating looking book.

      Delete
    2. Tracey, I've read all of Ann's Shaker books and they're fascinating. Yes, the men and women had to live apart and if they fell in love from across the room (lol) they usually left the community. I guess they thought new ppl would come in and therefore keep their religion going, but not too many couples would choose such a strict lifestyle!

      Delete
    3. I think Shakers are a stretch from Amish so I'm going to say no on Ann's book though it would fit in the Historical or Christian Fiction days. I'm surprised there are any Shakers left! I thought they were a blip on the 19th century radar. lol

      Delete
    4. Well, if it's a man or a woman left and they aren't related (or too old), they could make a new modern rule about not being celibate and they could start a whole new Shaker community with lots of little Shakers running around. lol

      Delete
    5. Ha! But then they wouldn't be Shakers any more.

      Delete
    6. They would as long as they still shaked. Bwahahaha

      Delete
    7. I am so nosey, I have been on Shaker recon, the last 2 shakers in the world in 2017 were 60 and 78, so 62 and 80 now if they are still living, wonder what's going to happen to that property when those 2 are gone? Inquiring minds want to know, haha...

      Delete
    8. Well, there goes my idea of kids! I just googled it and it said the buildings and properties passed into private hands and took on new functions. I'm glad the Shakers still live on through the impeccable research & intriguing novels of Ann Gabhart!

  7. Interesting history of the Shakers re the various comments....

    1. CC, I just got done reading an early copy of The Tinderbox and it is so good! Read it in less than two days because it was hard to put down. The ending leads you to definitely want to read the second book to this entitled The Timepiece coming in September. Beverly Lewis is one of the best Amish fiction writers there is, in my opinion 😊

    1. Our temps have still been pretty cold which has turned into a blessing because the snow is melting slowing thanks to the warmer sun but not at such a crazy rate that it would cause flooding which was a worry a few weeks ago. So I guess Mother Nature knows what she's doing up here. Plus we're having good maple syrup weather. Yay! Good luck, Kim!
