MURDERS AND METAPHORS
USA Today bestselling author Amanda Flower is back with the third in her more-charming-than-ever Magical Bookshop mystery series.
It's ice wine season in the Niagara Falls region and Charming Books is hosting a celebrity book signing during the grape-harvest festival...that is until the sommelier author is found in the middle of a frozen vineyard -- with a grape harvest knife protruding from her chest! Bookshop owner Violet Waverly can't help but get involved when her friend becomes the prime murder suspect. Of course, she has help from her indomitable Grandma Daisy, tuxedo cat Emerson and the shop's mascot, Faulkner the crow in the enchanting third Magical Bookshop Mystery.
My Review:
Hello! What's better than a good bookshop cozy mystery? A magical bookshop cozy mystery, that's what! Where the books choose the right readers and leave cryptic crime solving clues for Violet to find. This time the shop leads her to Louisa May Alcott's Little Women (fangirling all over the place because that is one of my all time favourite childhood novels!) But cryptic is the key word here, and it's up to Violet to figure out just what the bookshop is trying to tell her. Preferably before the murderer strikes again!
Oh -- and did I mention the majestic birch tree that grows smack dab in the middle of the bookshop? With a roosting crow atop it? And a tuxedo cat with cadaver dog skills? Does this all sound zany? Well it is -- such madcap fun! Excellent mystery with lots of potential suspects. I had a great time trying to figure this one out. (I did not!...until it was nearly too late for both Violet and me!) And the romance really takes off in this one -- blasting that onerous love triangle to smithereens!
A smart and sassy cozy that ticks all the boxes!
Please note: This isn't a Christian Fiction selection but it is a clean read.
