RANGER FAITH
It's a deadly holiday season...
Last Christmas, profiler Emilia Sanchez barely escaped the clutches of a serial killer. All she wants is to forget the incident and move on with her life, especially since the murderer is dead. But when she receives a poinsettia along with a threatening message, it triggers Emilia's worse fears -- that she's not safe after all.
Texas Ranger Bennett Knox has steered clear of Emilia since the day he rescued her from a killer. The beautiful profiler is smart and brave, but Bennett knows his presence brings back painful memories. The case has always haunted him too. He had concerns with the way the investigation ended.
With a potential murderer on the loose, Bennett and Emilia team up to discover the truth. Their investigation uncovers fresh evidence and raises questions about who can be trusted. As the threats against Emilia increase, Bennett vows to protect her, but he's running out of time. Someone is determined to make this Christmas her last...
My Review:
published in 2020
Cue the creepy music and clear your calendar because you're gonna want to race right through this enthralling romantic suspense. Phew -- that opening scene screams desperate and afraid! I get chills just thinking about it! Fast paced and edgy -- but not too edgy -- Shannon takes her readers on a breathless death defying search for an -- eeeep -- serial killer.
Love the connection Bennett and Emilia have -- but, oh, the heartache it's wrapped up in. They were coworkers and friends until Emilia nearly died at the hands of a notorious killer they had been investigating. The case closed a year ago...or so they thought...but someone has Emilia in their sightlines again this Christmas and it all seems eerily familiar.
The 'kinda' reunion romance is just as gripping as the suspense and both kept me on edge until the very last page. A tremendously satisfying read for fans who enjoy Love Inspired Suspense...with a kick!
Oh, and while this is the fourth book in the Texas Ranger Heroes series, I read it out of order with no problems. I started with the first book but then skipped ahead to this one because of the Christmastime setting but you can be sure I'll backtrack to books #2 and #3 and then I'll be anxiously awaiting the fifth book which doesn't have a release date yet. :-( Love when I connect to a series that encourages me to dive right in and rabid-read my way through all the books.

That cover pulled me right in last year, but although it scared me a bit, okay a lot (lol) I really loved it, so twisty-turny. I've read book 1 and 4 and can't wait for book 5. It was scheduled to release Sept 16, I preordered an ecopy, but then it was pushed back 30 days. Lynn must have had techno difficulties, but I'm almost to Oct 16th! Can't wait to read the sheriff's story!
ReplyDeleteYes, Emilia has that look of vulnerable but determined which matches with her personality so well. So now we've read the same ones -- 1 and 4 -- we're such mavericks! Thanks for recommending this series, Tracey.
DeleteAll the little Byrdies (Byrd brothers, that is) have left the nest as of last night so to comfort myself in my grief, I'm reading this next. Hubby'll be at Bible Study...maybe I should wait till he gets home? It's supposed to rain & thunder, and what if the electricity goes out? 😲 Bwahahahaha
ReplyDeleteOoohh -- wait until the thunder and lightning starts and then read the first chapter. Bwahahahaha! I'm commiserating wiht you over the last Byrd brother leaving the next. At least we'll have an opportunity to see them a bit mid month with the third and final book....we're talking Susan Sleeman's Nighthawk Security series for those who are confused. :-)
DeleteThe 1st chapter & already creepy? My neck will be sore from looking over my shoulder. EEK!
DeleteMalone was introduced in Book 5, but not sure Byrd brothers will be in Book 6 much. They aren't mentioned in the description, only Ian Blair, a police detective.
Shhh, I'm hoping otherwise because Malone's brother married a Byrd sister and they work in the same complex -- or at last stop by often enough to meet up. Plus, why would it be part of the Nighthawk series if the Byrds didn't feature in it? Wouldn't it be a spin off for a new series like Susan Sleeman has done with the other series? They all kinda fold into one another. Sigh -- we only have to wait ten days to find out...though it's not up on audible yet. I may have to wait longer. :-(
DeleteMaybe to lead it into the Steele Guardian series? I think we'll be seeing the Byrds flit in & out in book 6 & the Steele Guardian series. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, legs crossed, eyes crossed, and arms crossed. That should do it. LOL!
DeleteAnxious to start Ranger Faith. Closing my blinds 1st. 😲
Oh wow! Sounds like a must read!
