Dangerous Obesession

GIVEAWAY
PATCH, JESSICA R.
DANGEROUS OBSESSION

A stalker on her tail...
The Security Specialists at her side

Security expert Wilder Flynn wastes no time putting behavioral expert Cosette LaCroix under his 24/7 protection when her stalker finds her in Atlanta. Wilder keeps Cosette close to guard her from the quickly escalating threats and attacks. But can he accomplish the mission without breaking his strict code against dating employees? Or putting his heart and life at risk?

My Review:

I love Jessica R. Patch. I see her name on a book and my reader's heart does a dizzying tap-dance that leaves me lightheaded in literary anticipation. She's a click on 'buy now' and impatiently wait for delivery and then start reading before you get it out of the box kind of author! You might say I became dangerously obsessed with Dangerous Obsession. Bwahahaha!

Because.this is Wilder's story and I've been waiting on him. All quietly directing things from the background and being mysteriously closed off and aloof in the first two books of this Security Specialists series. Not that he wasn't likeable or approachable or not a great boss. More like a man of mystery -- someone who is super focused on protecting others and not so keen on opening up about himself. A kind of Gibbs type of hero.

Which really doesn't make him a good match for Cosette -- her being a therapist and all. Only, ironically, for all her encouraging the rest of the team to open up and share their emotions willy-nilly she's not all that forthcoming about certain aspects of her past either. These two are the 'pot' and the 'kettle' when it comes to closed-mouthed and the need to be in control. Which makes for gnarly good romance.

And, oh my goodness, that Wilder! I think I swooned into a liquefied state from the very first page and stayed that way right to the end (which makes turning pages kinda hard.) Honestly, I laughed, I fumed, I shivered with delight. I don't know how Cosette resisted him for as long as she did.

But, of course, it's complicated. Not just because of angst from the past but because of the truckload of angst in their present. Serious cunning stalker suspense. It kept me in a flummoxed state for most of the read. This author has a scary aptitude for sinister and she delivers an edge-of-your-seat read. I was so engrossed I didn't even take a chocolate break! Gasp!

The only rotten thing about this novel --- it's the last one in the series! Sob! And I have to say goodbye to all these characters. Double sob!!! I might still be sulking over that fact. But no worries if you haven't read the other books (but you really should!) because Dangerous Obsession can be read as a standalone....or should I say swoonalone?

  1. I read this last Friday, because like you, the minute I see a Jessica Patch book I swoop it up, found it at the local Walmart. She tells a great story, but man did she turn up the "creep factor" with this one! But have no fear, with Wilder and CCM on the job all will go well in the end. I love that he was a musician, you don't see that with many hero types. What a pair these two are!
    Great review!

    1. I know -- a man of mystery that gives revealing delectable pieces of himself as the story progresses. Sigh. You were the one to turn me onto Jessica R. Patch, Tracey -- you and Jackie. I am eternally grateful.

    1. I've had issues with FB for a while -- it's so slow and jumpy that I've stopped hanging out there much. Must try to figure out what's wrong -- internet? Or old computer? Or both? (most likely) So I don't miss out on things like Jessica Patch live!!!! Ack!!!!

    2. Sorry for butting in, but any time they make changes on FB it acts like that. Mine's wonky, too. They're making some changes to protect our privacy, get rid of spammers, and also so that we can see more of our friends' posts in our Newsfeed. Instead of a bunch of ads. In the meantime, it's slow and crazy acting!

    3. Well, that's a relief. It's not just me. I also have lost all the groups I belonged to which used to appear in the sidebar on the left and the group comments don't seem to be coming up as posts. Grrr.

  4. It's so hard to keep up with these books! I've read all hers but Secret Service Setup (though I have it on my shelf), so you know I need this for my collection. You know, refresh my memory of who Wilder is since I've read so many other books in between! Why don't authors release all the books in a series at once then we can binge read.....HAHA!! I

    1. Have you read Deep Waters? That's the first one -- Caley and Shep's story. Then comes Secret Service Setup and finally this one. And Wilder is the founder of CCM -- Covenant Crisis Management and the big boss man. And Caley's older brother. The series tagline is Security Specialists -- their mission is protection. I love team series like this. Good luck, Trixi.
