To the Moon and Back

GIVEAWAY
KINGSBURY, KAREN
TO THE MOON AND BACK

Dear Jenna,
Like I do every year, I wrote you a letter.
In case you come to the memorial today.
In case you want to find me as much as I want to find you.

It was the beginning of a letter not meant for Ashley Baxter Blake, but somehow she finds herself drawn to it. And to the handsome stranger who left it tucked in a chain-link fence for someone named Jenna. That man is Brady Bradshaw.

Brady was a child when the Oklahoma City bombing killed his mother. More than a decade ago, Brady met Jenna Phillips, whose parents were also killed in the attack. For a handful of beautiful hours, Brady and Jenna shared a deep heart connection.

But Brady never saw Jenna again. Now, a chance encounter leads Ashley to wonder if maybe she can help Brady find the girl he can't forget.

Ashley's family is skeptical. Should she spend so much time helping a man she's never met? Will her husband, Landon, understand her intentions? And can healing and love grow from the ashes of a shattered yesterday?

Deeply emotional and beautifully romantic, To the Moon and Back is an unforgettable stand-alone love story in the Baxter family collection. A story about hope, healing and what it means to survive.

My Review:

Five Tissue Box Alert! (and then some!!)

What an exceptionally moving story! Much more than a romance, To the Moon and Back is also (and more importantly) God's love story for us. Kingsbury expertly weaves diverse lives together in powerful ways. My goosebumps had goosebumps in places. And I cried buckets as these characters learned that "God isn't the reason bad things happen. He's the rescue." The author illustrates that in numerous ways throughout the read. Nothing is random where He is concerned. I loved how the promptings of the Spirit moved different characters in different ways -- all to achieve a purpose that only a loving Father in Heaven can see clearly. Such a profoundly faith-inspiring read!

And yes, this is a short review for me but I'm so gobsmacked I'm at a loss for words. Really. You don't want to miss this story. It's a life changer.

    1. I haven't read many by Karen Kingsbury. I was a late bloomer and then the Baxter Family series kinda overwhelmed me. This one reads as a standalone though. I got an audio CD from my library and loved it. Such great readers -- I was spellbound. Listening to the story enhanced it for me.

  3. Oh, most definitely! I lived through the time of the OKC Bombing, had family in OKC and the area and the church where we were married was also destroyed by the bomb, later rebuilt. I would love to read this book!!! Thanks for the chance to win it, Kav! drumb at att dot net

  5. I am SO behind on Kingsbury books, there's just so many of them!! Oh, this one sounds like a MUST READ NOW story...I love stories with love letters in them. The old fashioned way two people fall in love, words on a page to treasure for years....blissful sigh...

    1. This is great because you don't have to have read all the other Baxter novels to enjoy this one. It's a great introduction to the clan along with an independent love story. Good luck, Trixi.

  6. I’m not sure that I’ve ever read a Karen Kingsbury novel although I know there are many of them. This one sounds like an emotional read but a good one. I like the idea of listening to it on audio. Might have to check that out. Thanks for your review, Kav.

    1. check with your library, Pam. I bet they have the CDs. She's very popular -- and the reader/actor, not sure what you call them -- the female one, January something, is out of this world amazing! She alters her voice just a smidgen and can sound like a child or an old man or a teenager or....anybody. Its amazing. Kind of like watching a play with your eyes closed. lol

  10. Ah, the Baxter clan’s story continues. I only started reading about Karen Kingsbury’s legendary family series recently with Bailey Flanagan’s series and a couple of books published after that one. So many books, so little time.

    1. I think that's what stopped me from trying -- it's an impossibly huge series when you have to play catch up. But this one reads independent of the other Baxter books, though there are Baxters in it. Good luck, Mindy.
