Reader's Choice - Romantic Suspense / Mystery

GIVEAWAY

It's time to help me plan my New Year reading (and future giveaways) by recommending new releases (publication dates January, February or Mach 2019) and you have a chance to win one of the books you recommend! Remember to read all the details before entering!

IT'S ROMANTIC SUSPENSE/MYSTERY GIVEAWAY DAY

To be entered in the draw just leave a comment (or 3) below, including the title(s) of the book(s) in the Romantic Suspense/Mystery genre you would like to win.

Romantic Suspense/Mystery

A full-length story where a mystery is an important part of the plot. The hero or heroine (or both) are often in peril (more so in suspense.) Can be set in any time period -- historical or contemporary. May cross genres such as historical, dual timelines, Amish, YA.

How does it work?

Easy-peasy! Make recommendations in the comment section each day and if you win, you win the book you suggested.

BUT YOU GOTTA FOLLOW THE RULES!

Publication dates must be
January, February or March 2019
Each day is genre specific so
only submit books from that genre
Christian Fiction books only please!
You can offer up to 3 suggestions a day
BUT
they need to be made in
three separate comments
(makes it easier for me to tally)
No email entries this week
(too hard to keep track of due to
# of responses)
NEW - entrants must submit their own selections
(not piggyback on someone else's logon) - NEW
Open to International Readers
I'm all about spreading the good news about Christian Fiction
all over the globe!!!!

It's helpful if you include your email (using AT and DOT instead of @ and . to protect yourself from spammers) but you only need to add it to one of your comments (per day). If you choose not to include your email then it's up to you to contact me if you are a winner.

Draw will be held and winner announced on
Saturday December 22 2018

  4. Since you discovered yesterday KNOX also falls into the mystery category, I'm going with him again for my #1 :)

Thank you NPL (North Pole Librarian) for working overtime to ensure everyone has plenty to read this Christmas ;) tracey14567 at gmail dot com

  5. I am such a wimp in the suspense category. Writers have gotten so good at all those spine tingling moments I have to stick with the tamer reads so I can sleep at night and not have nightmares, lol.

I'm going with Explosive Reunion by Karen Kirst for my 2nd choice. Karen was an LI Historical author who I enjoyed reading who had to switch gears when that line closed, so it'll be interesting to see how she does with it. Amazon shows it coming on kindle Jan 1st.
Another writer I can recommend who had to do the same is Sherri Shackelford. I read an early copy of her new LIS No Safe Place and its fantastic! She had no problem coming up with a twisty-turny suspense that had me guessing all the way through. Jan 1st for this one too if anyone wants to give it a try.

    1. I know exactly what you mean, Tracey. I LOVE Jaime Jo Wright. She won a Christy at the ACFW awards and she's fabulous! But after I read her books (and some other authors) I have to sleep with the lights on holding my teddy bear. I'm such a sissy lala. Sigh...

    2. Good to know I'm not the only one! I dream about everything it seems and I do read a lot right before bed, so I really can't be reading the scary stuff. I have the same issue with movies. But, fortunately there's enough non-scary books to keep me busy :)

    3. As long as it's not TOO graphic I'm ok. I can't even watch that series The Good Doctor before I go to bed because it's so intense. So I basically read before I go to bed, too, because there's nothing much on TV I like.

  6. #3 Shattered Trust by Sara K Parker. A bride left at the altar goes on her honeymoon alone an is attacked on the beach. The bodyguard hired by her Federal judge father arrives just in time to come to her rescue. I like a good bodyguard story, I don't see as many of those as I used to. March 1st.

Thanks Kav! It's so fun hunting all the new releases, like a scavenger hunt!

    1. Ha! I have a new moniker -- NPL! I wonder if Santa will give me a pay raise now? lol

I love me some suspense but I have a vivid imagination that can lead to crazy dreams so I don't go for the deep psychological thriller kind of suspense. Like Criminal Minds. Ugh. No way. I don't do creepy well...unless it's Gothic chilling than I shiver in delight. I'm kind of strange, I guess.

I'm reading a Karen Kirst historical right now! Excited to see that she's doing a LIS and I have Sherri Shackelfords' on it's way to me now thanks to your recommendation. Hopefully my LI order will reach me before Christmas! And that Sara K. Parker one sounds awesome. I love a good bodyguard story too. Good luck, Tracey!

  7. Good morning, Kav! I've never read anything at all by this author, but I thought this sounded exceptionally good. I'm not sure if it's ROMANTIC suspense, however, so if it doesn't work I'll pick another.

    2. I wondered the same thing. There must be a silent letter in there (besides the 2nd "t") somewhere. I knew birdies chirped, but not kitties. What does kitty chirping sound like? I guess like Yttrup. ;-)

    1. Sibella Giorello is a new-to-me author. I checked my library and they have the second book in this series so now I just have to hunt down the first. Good luck, Sylvia.

    2. Revell and Thomas Nelson published Sibella's Raleigh Harmon books 1-5. Now she is sort of indie publishing the next ones 6-8. They are considered a new series (with the same female lead), but they continue right where the first series left off. You should really read them all in order. She now has 4 prequel YA (teen) books about this same character. As she continues the YA books, they will probably lead right up to the beginning of the adult series. Sibella is slowly republishing books 1-5 as she gets they go out of print and she gets the rights back. She already has republished book 1. Here you can see the series order and covers. https://www.goodreads.com/series/list?id=65104.Sibella_Giorello

  24. I'm with Tracey Hagwood! And Jamie Jo Wright, while I LOVE her as a person and think she has a fantastic newsletter, is just a little to dark and spooky for me. Especially since I read before bed! LOL! When the Bethany House Publicist is told she MUST read the book, but only in the middle of the day when she's not alone in the house.....I know it's too much for me! BAHAHAHA!

I'm not even sure if this one counts or if it's too tame, but I thought I see.

    2. Thank you SO much Tracey! I'm LONGING to read the one to! I was afraid it wouldn't fit the category though.

Kav can I change this one to When You Are Near by Tracie Peterson?

    3. I wish I'd seen it before I made my picks, it looks good, I like trying to solve a mystery with being scared myself, lol :)

    4. That's without being scared myself, haha

    5. ME TO! LOL! :) Like I said I LOVE Jamie's newsletters, and he first book was pretty good, but super scary! I'd turn the light out to go to sleep and be like a little hoot owl hiding under the covers NOT falling asleep! :D I'm also like you and sensitive to nightmares. Dana Mentink is usually my suspense author of choice since she doesn't go overboard and I saw the novella collection she's in, but I haven't talked myself into it enough to enter for it! LOL!

    6. Thanks for supplying a Tracie Peterson alternative that is suspense, Tracey! Feel free to switch one out with this title if you want to -- we're flexible like that her at the NPL. :-)

    1. Under the Midnight Sun doesn't fit with the romantic suspense category I'm afraid. It has some of the elements but doesn't seem to be the focus of the story plus it's not identified on Amazon as romantic suspense. Sorry! Your second choice works though. Good luck Amada.

    2. Oh bother. I was afraid of that, but hoping since they seem to be often in peril from the danger that follows it would fit. I didn't have a lot to go on with goodreads since they haven't listed the shelves or genres yet. :/ I'll change it. :) Thank you!
