Operation Mistletoe

GIVEAWAY
RANDOM RETRO READ DAY!
Maddrey, Elizabeth
Operation Mistletoe

Victoria Spencer hates Christmas

For the last ten years, disaster has struck on Christmas  Eve, leaving Tori dreading the holidays. When she's assigned to cover the light displays for her newspaper, she's determined to spend as little time on the article as possible. Especially once she realizes she's to feature frat boy Gabe "The Babe" Robertston, her former college crush.

Gabe Robertson is a different man than he was in college. Every December, he transforms his acreage into a winter wonderland designed to celebrate the birth of Christ and share God's love with the community. He also uses the lights to raise money for Operation Mistletoe, an organization that sends Christmas to troops stationed overseas.

Unable to se aside her prejudice, Tori looks for ulterior motives in Gabe's actions and dtermines to dig deeper. Will her investigations destroy any chance of a Merry Christmas?

My Review:

published in 2015

This is my first Elizabeth Maddrey book and I'm so glad I have another one waiting on my TBR pile! I don't know how I missed this author but I intend to play a serious game of catch-up now that I've 'discovered' her!

A Christmas story with a Scroogy twist. Victoria isn't a fan of Christmas. Gabe  is an over-the-top, out-of-the-box celebrator. Victoria isn't impressed. She's looking for an angle and Gabe's got one -- Jesus. Love the way the author incorporates the true meaning of Christmas into this story. Love Gabe's enthusiasm. His servant's heart. The way he lives his beliefs. But Victoria's certain there's something fishy going on and she plans to uncover the truth.

This is a shorter read, but it packs an emotional wallop along with a zing of Christmas cheer and holiday romance.

  3. I have this one already in ebook so I'm not entering. But two other "indie" authors I can recommend to you are Valerie Comer and JoAnn Durgin. Both are great writers that I think you would enjoy! Valerie is also fellow Canadian who lives on a farm, I believe. :-) Her daughter or daughter-in-law has designed some of her book covers.

You should check these ladies books out, they are wonderful fellow Christian authors who show Christ through their writing. I always enjoy the faith element in them, it's very refreshing!

    1. P.S. If you go to the Inspy Romance blog, you will find a few more names. Like Narelle Atkins an Australian author, and Ginger Solomon. Just a few other ones I've read their books. All wonderful ladies!

Here's the link to the writers of you're interested! I read the blog daily and these ladies are warm and friendly :-)

  7. I know of this author, but never had the honor of reading on of her books. "Operation Mistletoe" sounds like an amazing book to read any time of the year, but being close to Christmas a very good reminder as to the true meaning of the season. Definitely a book that I would enjoy having the opportunity to read. I'll have to move it up on my TBR list.

Thank you for your review which makes me want to read it sooner than later and for the opportunity to win a copy!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and may your week start off on the right footing. <3

    1. I have seen her name around but haven't delved in...partly because I erroneously assumed all her books would be in kindle format only. Imagine my surprise to discover a slew of them available on Book Depository and even some on audible. Woot!
