The Amish Wedding Promise

GIVEAWAY
HILTON, LAURA V.
THE AMISH WEDDING PROMISE

Could this bride's wedding disaster be a blessing in disguise?

Grace Lantz always imagined her wedding day would be a blissfully, happy occasion. But after a tornado swept through town, she finds herself relieved that the ceremony is delayed. After all, her groom-to-be hasn't even bothered to check on her. Instead, it's the handsome volunteer Zeke Bontrager who selflessly offers Grace his strong shoulders to lean on.

Zeke came to Hidden Springs to assist a community in need. He didn't expect to meet his soul mate. Determined to ignore his feelings, Zeke promises to help reunite kind, beautiful Grace with her groom. But after spending time together, Grace confesses that she might not want to marry her fiance after all. Can Zeke convince her that her true love is standing right in front of her? And can she find the courage to follow her heart?

My Review:

"We can't choose whether or not storms come. But we can choose where we stare during the storm." (p 86)

An out-of-the-box Amish romance full of pathos and humour. Love the unique flare Hilton brings to this genre. Not sure quite how to describe it -- a little bit edgy and sometimes unexpected? Anyway, it's refreshing and riveting and I'm a fan. Excited to see this is the first in a new series too! Can't wait for more Hidden Springs novels!

So, before you start in on this read you need to be aware that this is definitely a love-at-first-sight, whirlwind kind of romance. I know some people are not fans of this concept and they might find The Amish Wedding Promise disappointing because of that. Not me. I'm an equal opportunities romance lover. Second Chance, Reunion, Friends to Lovers, Love at First Sight....I love 'em all. So, I was thrilled with Gracie and Zeke's story and MERRILY swooned my way to their happily ever after.

Swoon, being the optimum word. Because -- whoosh -- there are some toe-curling scenes and an air of such desperate yearning for something that seems so impossible. (Happy shivery sigh!) Both Gracie and Zeke grow a lot over the course of a few days. They are tried and tested and forced to face their weaknesses even as they discover their strengths. As they grow in their faith, they also grow closer together.

Hilton doesn't make it easy though. Lots of trouble and strife and plenty of action to keep a reader in a rapid page-turning frenzy!

    1. I do too -- that's the whole spiritual theme of the story -- look to God in the midst of the storms. Very appropriate for today's reader. Good luck, Jana!

  5. A tale of a simpler lifestyle and close community, plus love at first sight sound rather a good escape now. Thanks! By the way, I don't have a clue when our library will re-open.....are all in the same situation? For ordering, I noticed Baker Books is offering a discount and free shipping.

    1. Yes -- our library doesn't have an open date but it won't be before the beginning of May if then. I can imagine all kinds of crazy once all the bibliophiles are allowed back in their libraries!

I actually had 43 books checked out from the library before they closed! (blushing bright red!) So I'll be good for a while. Plus I have a bunch of audio books (the ones online -- our library calls it Libby) on hold and a bunch of them will becoming in within two weeks! Woot! The library seems to getting more of those and the ebooks in to compensate. I check every couple of days and find new titles -- and a nice selection of Christian fiction included which is lovely. Plus some fun new cozy mysteries.

I think the free shipping thing is just for the states. :-( But I'm adding to my audible collection at a furious rate. lol I am worried about how this all will play out for our new releases. I'm betting there will be some delay somewhere along the line. I hope this doesn't make it harder to get print books in the future.

      Good luck, CC!

    2. Our library is closed and has been for three weeks. They were supposed to open sometime this month (April) but now I'm not sure what the plan is. When they first closed, you were able to call and they would check your books out and then they would bring them to your car...kind of like curbside delivery. But they stopped doing that after the first week. While I don't mind reading ebooks, my husband refuses to so it's harder on him, I think. I definitely miss visiting my library and my favorite librians!

    3. Oh, that's interesting that they did a curbside thing for a while. That would be labor intensive though depending on how many people availed themselves of the service. I'm grateful so many of my holds came in just before they closeed -- though there are four books on the holds shelves waiting for me -- and it's killing me!!!! Thankfully they are extending the loan period and pick up dates. Phew!

  9. Not entering because I've already read this one.

Love Laura's books and can't recommend this one enough. Yeah she's a good old Arkie gal and lives about an hour an a half from me. If you could go as the crow flies it won't take but a few minutes. :) I've been blessed to meet her and she is super nice. Always waiting for her next book to come out.

    Have a wonderful Tuesday evening!
