A SUMMER AMISH COURTSHIP
A lonely schoolmaster.
A widowed mother.
Will working together be a lesson in love?
After a sudden heartbreaking loss, young widow Abigail Stolz must somehow help her troubled son adjust -- even if it means working with Jamie's stern schoolmaster, Ethan Miller. Much to her surprise, Ethan is actually a sensitive man who is also grieving -- and lonely. But will family duty and the past keep them from a chance at happiness together?
My Review:
Hand me an Emma Miller novel, plunk me down in my reading corner and all is right in my world. :-) This author knows how to spin the kind of tale that'll hold a reader's attention right to the very last word. There's so much heart to her characters that it's easy to love them even when they are frustatingly stubborn. (I'm talking to you, Abigail.) And the way Miller weaves secondary characters (some from her earlier novels) into the story just adds more depth (and a whole lot of fun.) I'm ready to move to Delaware and join the community!
Love a good second chance romance and this one is excellent. Two grieving souls warily moving out of their grief and towards each other. It's not easy. Not with Abigail's recalcitrant son and her guileless mother. It's funny and sad and so very, very hopeful.
I listened to the audible version of this book even though I also have a paperback copy. I couldn't resist sampling Stina Nielsen's narration and once I had, I was hooked. She brings such vibrancy to the characters and really enhanced my 'reading'/listening enjoyment.

There's something so hopeful about finding a second chance at love. Good luck, Jana!
DeleteI haven't read enough of Emma Miller to have your opinion, but you sure do make me want to read more. I do enjoy audiobooks, but I haven't ever listened to any in the LI line. I forget to look, since they don't produce as many in an audio. I have listened to Stina Nielson before, but in a British authored book where she had an accent. Now I'm curious if the Brit accent is real or if her American accent is her real voice?

Oh, now that's interesting. She sounded very American to me. I have an audible account and I routinely check for new releases and upcoming books and have a ridiculously long wishlist on that site. This one caught my fancy even though I had the paperback already. LIs are really expensive compared to other books -- I used one of my credits to bring down the price. This boo really made a great listen. I actually think I got more out of it listening then if I'd read it. Funny how certain stories translate better to audible than print. At least for me. Good luck, Terrill!

It was her Hannah's Daughters series 😊 I just looked it up!
DeleteAnd some of those characters are mentioned in this story. Just in chitchat and gossip. So much fun because it made me feel like I really was part of the community since I knew who they were talking about. LOL Good luck, Trixi!
