Molly

GIVEAWAY
MONZON, SARAH
MOLLY

If there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I absolutely refuse to tell a lie no matter the consequences. So don't ask me a direct question unless you're prepared for a direct answer -- that's something my SoCal sewing girlfriends have learned the hard way. But who would have thought my honesty policy would get me fired from my job at the preschool? Or that a desperate -- and not to mention devastatingly handsome single father of one of my (now-former) students would hire me that same day as a nanny for his daughter?

I'm an education professional. How hard can taking care of a four-year-old and her over-stressed, over-worked father be?

My Review:

Laugh-yourself-silly good. Seriously, as much fun as the cover promises. Oh -- and a word of advice from one bibliophile to another...don't read (or listen as in my case) to this book out in public because, well, unrestrained glee is hard to curtail and people will stare. And then start to avoid you. ..Wait. I just realized Molly is the perfect social distancing tool. Hearty guffaws and inelegant snorts will keep people the required six feet (and more!) away. You'll be performing your civic duty by reading this book in public. :-)

Molly and Ben's story made me swiddy -- that's when your swoon turns giddy -- which happened to me a lot during my read. Swoon because -- hello -- Ben!!! In all his earnest nerdishness. His devotion to his daughter! His heart-tugging backstory. And giddy because -- Molly! Her penchant for complete honesty puts her in the most outrageous situations. Not to mention conversations. The way the author throws out random one liners is like comedic artillery. Then, when you're doubled over with laughter, she broadsides you with a hit of truth so searing you can't catch your breath.

I'm absolutely thrilled that this is the first book in a series because Molly has friends -- the kind that always have your back and aren't afraid to speak truth into your life whether you want to hear it or not. I can't wait to read all their stories. Sarah Monzon can't release them fast enough as far as I'm concerned!

I listened to the audible edition of Molly narrated by Stevi Incremona. She did a great job of bringing these characters to life and made the read all the more enjoyable. Hoping the rest of the series comes out in audible as well!

  1. This sounds soooo good! I have the same wonderful problem with Jen Turano books, disturbing even the dog with my "inelegant snorts", as you phrased it! Thanks!

  2. Pls don't enter me as I just won a book. Just wanted to say how much I adore this cover! And your review is delightful! I need something entertaining to read after surgery this week (I don't think my throat will be feeling too great when the nurse says buy ice cream, pudding, jello, etc.) ugh So I'll cuddle up with Molly & my ice cream & hopefully the combo will help me not feel too sorry for myself! Headed to Amazonnnn....

  4. This one sounds so cute. Frankly, I can relate to Molly as well. I will not tell a lie, no matter the consequence. IT can be a good thing most times, but sometimes it goes awry. Would love to see how Molly handles the latter. Thanks for the chance!

    2. I'm the same way. If someone asks me if they look fat in that dress, instead of lying and saying "no" (if they do), I'll switch it around & say that color flatters you & hopefully it does or I'll have to think of another quick answer. hahaha
