JUSTICE UNDERCOVER
Keeping her true identity a secret is the only way to stay alive.
Going Undercover as a nanny brings presumed-dead ex-US Marshal Kylie Stone closer to catching the man who murdered the witness in her protection -- and also killed Texas Ranger Luke Dryden's sister. When someone tries to kidnap the twins in her care, Kylie must tell their uncle the truth...and convince Luke to help her. But will revealing her identity put all their lives at stake?
My Review:
Pppphhhhheeewwwwwwww! she says, inhaling a much needed lungful of air after completing this breath-snatching suspense. I think my heart flat-lined in a couple of places. Great pacing, action-filled, creepy-sense-of-ever-present-danger kind of a read. Love Kylie's kick-butt, get-the-job-done US Marshal attitude which is kinda hard to hide beneath her nanny persona. Luke's equal parts intrigued and confused and -- gah, if these crazed bad guys ever drop their pursuit he might just figure it out. The subterfuge was fun and then it imploded and Kylie and Luke have to learn to work together -- and rebuild trust -- in order to put an end an unstoppable criminal. Fantastic debut! Looking forward to reading many more books by Connie Queen!

Happy Canada Day!
ReplyDeleteThanks, CC! Our usual celebrations have all been canceled -- well, changed to online -- due to COVID-19 but, bless his heart, a neighbour one block over has decided to serenade us all with his electric guitar and rock 'n' roll out-of tune caterwauling. For hours. Yay Canada! lol Are you in the draw? If so, good luck!
DeletePerfectly creepy & intriguing cover.

Yep, cue the creepy music and you're all set for an electrifying read. :-) Good luck, Jana!
DeleteThis is a case of "I remember when" Connie was not an author yet! I "met" her on Facebook probably through the Love Inspired group or something. So yay to her debut novel!!! Of course I want to read it :-) Thanks for the chance, Kav!

And what a debut it is!!! Good luck, Trixi!
DeleteHello Trixi.
DeleteDid we possibly meet on Seekerville? I hung out there a lot trying to soak up all the writing advice...
You know what? That's it I think! I knew I had "met" you somewhere but couldn't for the life of me remember where. Ha! Middle age is fun isn't it? 😂 Congrats on your debut book Connie, I definitely want to read it!!
DeleteThank you so much!
DeleteYippee - a new to me author with an awesome sounding debut LIS book, which - thanks to you - is now on my TBR list!
ReplyDeleteThat cover - definitely says PICK ME UP. Love houses with wrap around porches and lots of land. The view through the fence and the lightening bolt make it for me. Can't wait for the opportunity to read all about Kylie and Luke's story.
Thank you for the chance to win a copy!

ReplyDeleteI do too. So much fun to get in on an author's beginnings. Good luck, Kim!
DeleteI failed to officially say don't enter me as this appears a bit more suspense than I usually read....was just using the proper date for best wishes....although your experience was rather irritatingly amusing (not!).
ReplyDeleteOy -- he went on for hours...and then, his buddy came over and joined in -- all amplified to the nth degree. There were teems of folks staggering out in the heat going up my street to see what all the ballyhooing was about. And then we had private fireworks all through the night...last chorus at 4 a.m. Sigh. This is what comes from canceling national holiday celebrations. Thanks for letting me know -- I didn't think ti was your 'thing' but I wanted to make sure.
DeleteThank you, Kav, for the wonderful review.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you liked it! :)
