His Road to Redemption

GIVEAWAY

JORDAN, LISA
HIS ROAD TO REDEMPTION

A veteran in need of a fresh start will get more than he bargained for...

Veteran Micah Holland's scars go deeper than anyone knows. An inheritance from his mentor could be a new beginning -- if he shares the inherited goat farm with fiercely independent Paige Watson. now the only way they keep the farm is to work together. But first Micah must prove he's a changed man to keep his dream and the woman he's falling for.

My Review:

What a stunning redemption story! One of my favourite tropes and I love it when I become emotionally invested in a character's struggle to seek out renewal and hope. That's Micah -- true, he's dealt with some seriously difficult circumstances in his life but he can also be his own worst enemy. Because Micah has a loving family -- his brothers have been featured in previous books -- but instead of running to them he ran away so this is a prodigal son story as well. And that adds to the emotional drama! Phew -- another page-turning frenzy of a read for me!

Love that Paige and Micah have a history that sets them up as competitors rather than allies at the start. Stubbornness and second-guessing the other's words/actions comes second nature, I guess. They kinda reminded me of an early days Anne and Gilbert (Anne of Green Gables, if you don't get that reference.) I loved the dynamics and the way they both slowly break down their defences as the story progresses.

This is only the second book I've read by Lisa Jordan and I'm putting her on my 'play author catch-up' list pronto! I've missed two Holland brother stories and a whole other series besides! This author knows how to spin a romantic tale with just the right amount of angst and a whole lot of heart. And faith! Incredibly good!

  4. Was hooked at the first words - "A veteran in need of a fresh start". As an old Army brat, I'm a sucker for anything military connected. Add in LI and you know it's on my TBR list.

Love the cover! It makes me think of what they say is headed our way this weekend. :)

"HIS ROAD TO REDEMPTION" sounds like a great read and your review cinches it as a must read.

Thank you for the chance to win a copy!

  9. I haven’t yet read a story by Lisa Jordan, but I do have a copy of one of her early LI’s. It might even be her first. This review was wonderful and I personally felt some of your reader love for the book. I’m entering, but I’ll be checking my library as well. Just in case. Thanks Kav.

    2. I'm shocked. That's a dereliction of duty by libraries in general. Lol. Although, if every library purchased each monthly release by Harlequin publishers, I can't imagine the kind of backlog they would have trying to process them along with all the other new releases. I think that's where ebooks help library systems. It's just unfortunate that they don't work for you. For me and my degrading eyesight, ebooks are becoming my preference. Unless, of course, I want a book for it's story AND gorgeous cover. ;-)
