Abduction Rescue

GIVEAWAY

EAKES, LAURIE ALICE
ABDUCTION RESCUE

It starts with a kidnapping...will it end in murder?

Desperate to find his missing sister, Ethan McClure seeks out private investigator Melissa 'Mel' Carter -- only to be attacked right outside her agency's door. Though she's reluctant to help after her last case turned violent, Mel won't turn Ethan away. Following a clue left by his star is their only chance, but can they avoid becoming pawns in the abductor's dangerous game?

My Review:

I've loved reading Laurie Alice Eakes's Historical Romances so I get a thrill every time I see her name in the month's Love Inspired Suspense lineup. This is her third book for them and it's an unputdownable wonder.

Intense. Filled with action and danger. The kind of breathless cat-and-mouse game I could see playing out on the big screen. Literally read it in one sitting because there was no plausible place to stop without losing my mind!

Love Ethan and Mel and their back stories and the way they work together in the search for his missing sister. All kinds of emotions simmering beneath the surface between them and all kinds of reasons that a romance just isn't in the cards for either of them. (Ha! Luckily Eakes knows better!)

And I love that this is a big city setting -- Chicago -- and once again the author uses the public transit system to nail-biting perfection. Though she includes some incredibly vivid car chases as well. :-)

A gripping romantic suspense.

  5. I enjoyed this book, but I do wonder how much Laurie knows about knee replacements. (Not a spoiler since it's mentioned in the first few pages) It was mentioned often and referred to as his weak knee. Having had one myself I can tell you the exact opposite is true. Knee replacements make a knee much stronger! But I still enjoyed trying to solve this suspense and what a suspenseful ride it was!

    1. Oooh, interesting observation, Tracey. Maybe because Ethan had a traumatic knee injury which prompted the replacement surgery, it didn't take as well as a 'regular' surgery -- if you can use the word regular when referring to replacing body part.s :-) Like it was shattered by a bullet say (I can't remember what happened) but maybe there wasn't much left to work with so it didn't have an optimum outcome? Just guessing. Now I am going to think of you as the bionic reader, ready to leap library stacks in a single bound (as long as you land on your super knee.)

    2. Yes, that's me the bionic intrepid reporter ;) the story said his replacement was 5 yrs ago so I can't imagine it not being better than before. I can tell you when they take that old one out the knee joint you get is a whole new knee so it wouldn't be the replacement causing problems. My 2 cents and I guess I am just splitting hairs, lol. I still enjoyed it a lot.

    3. But it's neat that you have that insight. Before you said anything I just imagined a replacement knee would be weaker than a 'real' one.

  6. Love the LIS books and "ABDUCTION RESCUE" sounds like it not only fits the bill but goes above and beyond to bring the suspense and action all while telling an amazing story to boot. Love that cover too!

Can't wait to read this one. Thank you for the chance to win a copy.
